Some potentially exciting games today:
- No. 15 Michigan State at No. 8 Penn State
- No. 14 Brigham Young at No. 7 Utah
- No. 20 Pittsburgh at No. 19 Cincinnati
- No. 2 Texas Tech at No. 5 Oklahoma
Anybody want to talk College B-Ball? Or my amazing Sharks? Are we heading for another Celtics-Lakers final?
Below the fold, NBer Caringwhiteguy raises an interesting question about FSU's Myron Rolle:
Much is being made of the accomplishments of Myron Rolle, defensive back at Florida State. He is taking his final interview for a Rhodes Scholar position today in Alabama. He will then private jet to Maryland to join his team for its game against the Terps. My question concerns the arrangements, both logistical and financial to get this kid from Alabama to Maryland. In these times when a booster can't buy an athlete a pack of gum at the 7-11 how are they pulling this one off? I know that schools have paid for kids to go home on bereavement, but can't think of much else FSU could do in this instance. Rolle seems to be a young man of tremendous character, talent and intellect, but these arrangements seem just a bit odd. Any thoughts?

November 22, 2008 - 11:10 ET by LionKingPersonally, I think it is great. They are helping out a student-athlete in a tangible way. Furthermore, they are being above-board with all of it. No secrecy; no automobiles; no cush jobs; nothing that could be considered an enticement of recruitment.
The real shame would be for the NCAA to find fault with this action.
It's FSU....
November 22, 2008 - 11:16 ET by BlondeGo figure.
Seriously, though, the NCAA approved this arrangement, perhaps it is based on his status as a scholar, rather than as a student athlete.
Maybe The One can fix the NCAA while he's fixing everything else in the universe, including a college playoff system. The NCAA has been wildly uneven in applying its "rules".
Going with OK today (Bobby used to be a Gator) and Penn State, my beloved Gators are going to lunch on the Citadel today, working on Tebow's (and maybe Percy Harvin's?) Heisman stats....such a great game I've got to order it on Pay-Per-View.
Dead computer...getting in a few moments on a borrowed one...so I'll see you all next week when the new laptop shows up.
GO GATORS!!!!!

November 22, 2008 - 11:26 ET by R D HelmSorry to hear about the dead computer. Ain't technology wonnerful?
LOL-Yeah, I'm guessing your Gators will win by about 60 points today. Nothing like a rigorous practice leading up to the SEC Championship game.
My Dawgs are off today in preperation for their matchup against GT. I will have to pull for the Yellow Jackets in that game. Its a family thing.
It was fun watching them beat Miami into the dirt Thursday night.

Did this country just elect Obama/Biden, or was it Soros/Ayers?
Okay, J,
November 22, 2008 - 17:10 ET by R D HelmLOL-I missed it by nine points.
Alabama best show up with their A game, or they are going to get blown out themselves.
Can't wait for that one.

The big game is OU-Texas
November 22, 2008 - 11:34 ET by ricklailThe big game is OU-Texas Tech. I really don’t have a dog in this fight but I believe TT can do it. If they do Harrell will win the Heisman. If not Tim Tebow wins.
My Heels play NCSU. They are in fairly good shape in the Coastal Division of the ACC after GA Tech laid it on Miami. Heels have the tiebreaker over those 2. Really need VA to beat VA Tech next week.
Really Blonde, The Citadel? The Gators may well wind up as national champs. The Citadel?
For all you Vol fans out there here is a bit of worthless trivia. At the start of this season only 3 schools of the 119 playing Division 1 football had never lost 8 games in a season. Michigan’s 8 losses dropped them out. A Tennessee loss to Vandy would drop them out leaving Ohio State the only team to never have lost 8 games in a season. By the way, I wonder if the Meeeechigan fans would like to have Lloyd Carr back. This has been a record setting season for Rodriquez and not in a good way.
Washington-Washington State- what a bummer. They come in with a combined record of 1-21. Both schools rank near the bottom in offense and defense in Division 1.
Some are touting this week as rivalry week. It might be in the Big Ten and some of the Pac 10 but most of the games are next week. UNC-DOOK, GA-GA Tech, VA-VA Tech, Texas-Texas A&M, OU-OSU, Tenn-KY, Al-Auburn, FL-FSU, etc. Think about how important the OU-OSU game becomes if TT loses to OU.

You gotta love college football!
On a more serious note, I see the Gators barely pulled out a win. Geeesh, Blondie, tell your boys to quit scheduling tough non-conference games!
Que'lle Squeaker
November 22, 2008 - 22:49 ET by BlondeThat was the most beautiful half of football I've ever seen in my life. Of note, however, was the Citadel actually scored more points than the Ol' Ball Coach & his team scored last week.
I was actually cheering for those poor kids by the end of the game.
Oh, and Mr. Two Bits led his last official "cheer" in the Swamp, which he first began in 1949!
