For general discussion and debate. Possible talking point: Thus Spoke Noonan.
He has within him the possibility to change the direction and tone of American foreign policy, which need changing; his rise will serve as a practical rebuke to the past five years, which need rebuking; his victory would provide a fresh start in a nation in which a fresh start would come as a national relief. He climbed steep stairs, born off the continent with no father to guide, a dreamy, abandoning mother, mixed race, no connections. He rose with guts and gifts. He is steady, calm, and, in terms of the execution of his political ascent, still the primary and almost only area in which his executive abilities can be discerned, he shows good judgment in terms of whom to hire and consult, what steps to take and moves to make. We witnessed from him this year something unique in American politics: He took down a political machine without raising his voice.
Four days to go. What are you thinking?

October 31, 2008 - 02:17 ET by Carl KolchakWell let's hope for the best come Wednesday morning after reading Noonan. I'll be optimistic and hope for the best, but I have to admit after reading about all government involvement into the life of Joe the Plumber and the computer access into his life, that it reminds me of "1984" by Orwell. I think it's pretty obvious that Big Brother in the book is Stalin, and Goldstein is Trotsky. I have a hard time understanding why Joe the Plumber has been scrutinized so much. It makes me think the Thought Police will be investigating anyone they think is dissenting from what should be thought.

Elitists
October 31, 2008 - 10:37 ET by allanfElitists are characterized by a desire to belong to a group and an ability to put style over substance. I guess Peggy is as elitist as they come. Peggy, elitist opposition in Europe to our foreign policy is not a sign of a policy deficiency. France and Germany eschewed nominally anti-American socialists in favor of more conservative leaders. The larger question to me is why do you feel that the approbation of Europeans whose enmity led to the loss of over 100 million lives in the last century so salubrious? After the last war, America removed their ability to wage war independently. The elitists amongst them find themselves in the position of trust fund nabobs impotently pontificating on world issues well assured they have responsibility for nothing. Obama is a master Pat Paulson politics. He can eloquently say nothing about anything. As refreshing as you find this, I think it puts you in the category of callow elitists. You may be impressing some friends on the Upper West Side with your wisdom. But you won't be invited to my parties.

Noonan is proof that the infiltration of the media is almost complete. Enough to get this POS elected.
There used to be a time when the ''Free Press'' was supposed to be the defender of truth and the people of the United States of America. Exposing oppressive and evil government and officials was their part of the American society. Why have all of the Anti-Americans gone over to evil?

The End Of Truth
October 31, 2008 - 06:26 ET by casel21I've required my 17-year old to read the Road To Serfdom. I remember reading that it was the most widely circulated book in the Eastern Block countries during the Cold War. I think it is remarkable not only because of what it said but when it was written.
Whenever I read history, I always try to imagine what it would have been like to live in extraordinary times. It looks like I got my wish. But at least I got my Cliff Notes on what's going to happen in the RtS.
The RtS describes what happened so clearly and accurately that you wonder how many people could be so oblivious to what was going on. But as Hayek reminds is the Germans were not a different species of people so what happened to them, what worked on them, could work on us.
We are watching "Why The Worst Get To The Top," led by Sen Obama unfold before our eyes. And we are watching "The End Of Truth," led by the likes of Noonan, unfold as well.
Noonan reminds me of Kent Brockman in the Simpsons when he mistakenly thinks giant ants are taking over the world:
"...The Corvair spacecraft has been taken
over — ‘conquered’, if you will — by a master race of giant space ants.
It’s difficult to tell from this vantage point whether they will
consume the captive earth men or merely enslave them. One thing is for
certain, there is no stopping them; the ants will soon be here. And I,
for one, welcome our new insect overlords. I’d like to remind them that
as a trusted TV personality, I can be helpful in rounding up others
to…toil in their underground sugar caves."
Well, I gotta go. I'm off to toil in the underground sugar caves.
HAIL ANTS!

Proxy Votes for Barack Obama
October 31, 2008 - 06:45 ET by Retired GeekRationalizations for Obama
The complex process the human mind uses to arrive at decision-making has been the topic of many volumes.
One consensus that is generally held is the human mind can justify any decision and any action that it takes.
Rationalization is the mortal enemy of facts, logic and reason.
Rationalization is in ‘simple’ terms, a defense mechanism that attempts to explain bad decisions or behavior in a rational logical manner.
Rationalizing that a vote for any candidate that cannot win is not a vote for Obama gives us a prime example of rationalization.
Rationalizing that a ‘symbolic’ vote will teach the major parties a lesson contrasts the reality of their premise that the major parties ‘do not know what they are doing’ and ‘haven’t learned from the past’.
Teaching 'Politicians' a lesson is oxymoronic at best - Obama-Followers will vote for Obama regardless.
Third party votes at this time in history, is simply a 'proxy' vote for Obama that gives one a feeling of 'superior' Patriotism, I guess.
Rationalizing that ones closely held principles trump the safety and wellfare of America and its citizens is little different from those who want America destroyed.
Those who say we need to return to the Constitution that many Americans have left or attempted to destroy will be best accomplished by giving Obama and Liberals their desires and wishes to control America, is akin to giving children matches and gasoline.
The children will surely learn a lesson if survival succeeds in overcoming the odds.
Rationalizing that an Obama presidency will be good for America in the long run defies facts, logic and reason.

Sen. McCain's support for convicted swindler and thief Charles Keating is documented fact. His wife and father-in-law invested over $350,000 with Mr. Keating.
Sen. McCain calls convicted felon G. Gordon Liddy a friend. A man who did his best to corrupt the American election process and has never said he was sorry - unrepenent, if you will. A man who suggested Federal agents be shot in the head because they wear body armour.
Sen. McCain was Chairman of the Board of a organization that gave the organization founded by Mr. Khalidi at least $700,000 of US taxpayer money.

October 31, 2008 - 13:35 ET by NL207Simplistic nonsense.
You argue that the Government has the right to use force to deprive some citizens of a greater portion of their private property than it does other citizens based upon a myriad of qualifications, one of which is personal income.
In its purest sense, a progressive income tax violates the concept of equal protection under the law. Even the 16th Amemndment does not speak to that issue regarding income tax:
"The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration."
The amendment grants to Congress the authority to levy an income tax but without relieving the Congress of the obligations of the 14th Amendment to equal treatment in so doing.
Violation of equal protection is 'something wrong'. By advocating pregressive incomes taxes, YOU are advocating UNEQUAL protection under the law. Yes indeed, there IS something wrong with paying "somewhat" more.

What Noonan leaves out is
October 31, 2008 - 13:15 ET by Tim the EnchanterWhat Noonan leaves out is how he will accomplish all these things. Knowing theory is one thing, knowing how to apply it is another (the difference between the scientist and the engineer). Since The One's life has been relatively free of accomplishment, what makes her think he has the tools to get the job done, even if he knows what he wants to do?

The two quakes in question were magnitudes 4.8 and 5.0. That would correspond roughly to 200Kt strategic weapons. These would be no ordinary Nagasaki style fission bombs, but the real deal.
I am very interested to know what official sources have to say about this. The initial reports come from an Israel-only news channel.

I'm thinking about my right to vote
October 31, 2008 - 14:38 ET by Hooterville DenizenI voted my absentee ballot Wednesday. The County Clerk’s office was busy with voters. I took my ballot to the far corner of the room and nestled into my cardboard “blind.”
Once I was done, I retouched the mark beside my vote for John McCain. There, perfect. It was dark and within the circle. I sealed the envelope and held in both hands for a moment. With eyes closed, I reviewed my voting. As usual, it was not a “straight ticket” vote. I had studied the issues for months. I had studied the character of the people asking for that vote. What did I want? The same as usual: more freedom, more justice and more economic opportunity. I had done my best and prayed millions of other people will do the same.
I opened my eyes and looked around. No one was looking. I gave the ballot a quick kiss and returned it to the clerk.

Obama Treading Water
October 31, 2008 - 16:16 ET by Lame CherryI'm either going to be so wrong that the earth is flat or this is going
to be another Sarah Palin on the GOP ticket astounding all the
propagandists, but I just do not see how Barack Obama can win this
election as it trends.
In 1992, Bush 41 stated that Americans
would never vote for a draft dodger compared to a war hero. He was
absolutely correct, but it was the Peggy Noonan Rhino Republican types
who told Christians to shut up and go away along with a Lawrence Walsh
electioneering coup which absolutely sealed Bush's fate.
Those factors are not at all evident in this race.
In
92, you could feel an honest voter surge for that election stealer Ross
Perot which people fell for. You could feel the same thing for John
Anderson in 1980 when Reagan won. There were voting blocks in 2000 for
Al Gore which were solid and John Kerry had that solid feeling too, but
this with Barack Obama just feels like fairy pee.
What might you
ask is fairy pee as it does not exist? That is exactly what it is as it
is like a spectre of something you think might be there, but just
evaporates as you get close to it. That is what this Obama voter
support feels like. It is all Zogby and mirrors.
In early
election counting, blacks are voting in numbers but at the same time
the McCain voters are equalling if not surpassing Obama's numbers. In
other words, all these dead Democrats who always vote in elections
early, middle and late are just not showing up on the books.
Black votes are not enough to win anything except Mayor of DC.
The
trends are instead pointing to John McCain. New York which has a huge
Jewish vote was already going 2 to 1 for McCain in those twisted polls.
I don't quite understand how Israeli voters are allowed to vote in
American elections, but they are and those trends are going 3 to 1 for
John McCain out of the Israeli state.
That is not a good sign for
messiah Obama as Jewish votes tend to be meathead Reiner liberal, and
yet Jews want nothing to do with him and are voting strongly against.
I
have related the erosion of Obama on Democrats. The PUMA voters are
still furious over his busing in voters to Iowa to steal that state
from Hillary and the way Obama slapped her around for months still has
them fuming.
The Hillary voters were called Rednecks just like
Murtha of Pennsylvania just called Pennsylvanians and the PUMA voters
are stating the same thing I have, but to a lesser degree, "Add 5
points to McCain's numbers and then you have it pretty close to what
the real polling stats are".
That of course puts John McCain 3 PUMA points and 7 blog points in my tally ahead for the past months.
Obama
has spent 800 million dollars in fraud funds which it appears 300
million of that the Democrats are going to be mandated to have to be
repaid by the Justice Department and Obama can still not seal the deal
any more than when Hillary was throwing the race as punishment to the
Clintons from the cartels.
You can see Obama prancing about with
Bill Clinton and the very next day Bill Clinton is telling FOX News, "I
haven't cleared this but Obama was asking me about economic policy".
That
is Clinton speak for, "Obama is an idiot. He is in over his head. Joe
Biden is suppose to be the equalizer and Obama the idiot is asking me
about economic policy.
Don't vote for this idiot Hillary voters and
get what I'm telling you that the Clintons are not voting for this
idiot either as it means a 2012 Hillary run for the White House."
Biden
has been sabotaging Obama and the Clintons have been nonstop playing
cuddles to take the heat off of them when Obama looses and laying the
ground work to impeach him if he steals the election.
The white folks in the Democratic party want nothing to do with Obama.
I
have noted that in liberal Minnesovietsota in all the feeds I have
watched, Al Franken will not even mention Obama. Democrat Sen.
Klobichar refers in her support as "the new President" along with Al
Franken.
Democrats are running away from Obama and want nothing to do with him.
Honestly
Obama had this nomination handed to him and honestly in the experience
I have had with his maniacs, these Obamaniacs are the left wing kook
version of Ron Paul supporters who were never more than a deluded
handful, but yet would descend on polls to give Paul the victory time
after time. The Obama supporters are doing that in the online and phone
polls and this is one reason the polls are skewed just like the rallies.
Ask
yourself this, do you work or have something going on during the day?
That is the point in most McCain Palin voters are working or investing
their time in some type of duty, so they are not showing up in the
Obama type numbers.
Obama in his rallies is gleaning every welfare,
unemployed and wacko malcontent to his gatherings in the state's he is
visiting. That is where his numbers are coming from.
The press has not yet addressed if Obama rally supporters are being paid to show up.
I
stated before in a blog how if one looks at Obama rallies, the white
fat people get on stage behind him with a few black people thrown in,
but as you pan the audience stuck on the street you witness almost a
sea of black faces.
That is what is called loading the platform and
hiding race. Many black people are in this gathering as for Martin
King, the problem as I stated is elections are not won by black people
alone.
The white and hispanic Democratic support is not showing up in numbers for an Obama win.
If
I might address polling again with this. Most voters work during the
day. At night they are either busy doing laundry, feeding the kids or
sitting down for a few minutes of time for themselves for the first
time all day.
The phone rings. Are you going to screen the call? You bet.
Are
you going to waste your one hour of your time to talk to a Zogby
liberal starting off with a question like, "America is in dire straits
due to Republicans, do you want to be saved by Obama or doomed with
John McCain?"
Normal people don't answer the phone or hang up when the 000-000-0000 phone numbers show up on caller ID.
So
who is answering in these Obama numbers are people who sit around all
day hoping someone calls so they can just talk to anyone. They watch
Oprah so are clueless about if Sarah Palin is on Obama's ticket or not
and that is the poll sample.
The polling data can never be
correct as the sample is filled with people desperate for human
interaction and someone like me who tells the polling darling on the
other end how skewed the questions are gets allot of "Do you want to
take this poll or not?".
Sure I do, but my poll is most likely deleted from the sample.
So
where are Obama's numbers? I don't see hispanics voting for him,
because hispanics might hate white boss people but they have it in
their latino minds they aren't about to enjoy voting for the doorman as
it was bad enough to humor the rich guy who tips ok getting the vote.
Asians
are absent, Indians are absent, Russians are absent and the last time I
checked on a Muslim website there were like 7 people active on it
claiming support for Obama.
Iraqi's who can not vote for American
Presidents don't want Obama elected. That trend appears the same for
Muslim Americans, because face it, the idea of sticking it to the white
folks wears off fast when you start figuring out you are sticking it to
yourself worse with Obama.
The support among college dufus age
kids is supposed to be high as they are an emotional lot. The early
polling shows no dufus kids voting. I stated that liberal kids wouldn't
know how to get to a polling place, filling out an early ballot is a
drag and on election day sleeping in till noon sounds great, after
ordering pizza and drinking beer, smoking a joint, getting laid sounds
a whole lot more fun than going out on a cold day and after another
Obama nap, it is, "Oh crapper in the wrapper, it is 9 pm and I might as
well stay in bed playing video games".
None of that in the least
trends toward an Obama victory. I have seen liberal states like New
Jersey trending even for McCain in early voting. That is not good stats
for the messiah.
I see absolutely no passion for Barack Obama in
the majority of Americans. I see loads of passion against Obama from
PUMA Democrats and a growing voting block of Patriots, Conservatives
and Christians.
Christians are very moved by Sarah Palin as are
Conservatives. Patriots are even more so for John McCain. These people
go out and vote no matter if Jesus is coming or not that day. These
American Secularists will vote as a sacred rite.
One more point in this as I have seen around the United States a great leap of purchases in two categories. Guns and safes.
A
major retailer of firearms stated that, "We are running through guns
now, because people are afraid of Obama, you just wait after the
election and he gets in there, we are going to line our AK's on the
shelves and they are going to be bought up in days."
McCain
voters are putting huge amounts of cash already into safes and
firearms. That is a trend around the nation and they are not going to
be voting for Obama.
Lastly, I don't see God behind anyone
blaspheming His Messiah by calling himself a messiah. God takes His
Name personal and guards it. I don't see Obama coming into Washington
DC any more than Sennacherib coming into the walls to overthrow things
as America is a wretched people in sin too often, but the stations of
power are God's to deal with as He wills.
I have noted a race I
watched in South Dakota several years ago where Tim Johnson used his
wife's breast cancer to get himself "elected" after he manufactured
Sioux votes to steal an election from the gentleman who did defeat Tom
Daschle the next time around.
For those who know Tim Johnson's real
side of ire, his brain explosion seems like a balancing of the scales
as a starter. God does pay attention to every detail.
I though
wont' be speaking for God, but I will note there has been an absolutely
pile of the worst kind of omens constantly flowing from Barack Obama. I
also mark that the real data in polling which the Pentagon and National
Security do trend, had according to rumor President Bush pulling troops
out of Iraq in the National Guard to deal with black riots when Obama
looses or doesn't get the election stolen as he planned.
I see
Obama treading water for the past 10 months. Hillary did all but let
him grab onto her personal flotation devices to get him into this
drowning position. His support seems a myst upon the winds of change
with no weight.
If this trends the way it feels and the way the
numbers are relating, this should be a John McCain and Sarah Palin
victory with key Congressional Democrats going by the way.
Barack
Obama has massive voter erosion and the mass hysteria of the DailyKos
wonks over any thread out of place means liberals fully understand how
under water Obama has been all along.
