For general discussion and debate. Possible talking point: a debate moderator clearly in the tank for one candidate?
The media bias for Obama at this point has become beyond unbelievable. Now it turns out that PBS's Gwen Ifill, who's scheduled to moderate Thursday's vice presidential debate, has a book coming out on inauguration day praising the Messiah.
I mean, c'mon. Shouldn't she be immediately replaced? Would the Obama campaign permit someone to moderate this debate if it was revealed that he or she had a book coming out on inauguration day praising McCain?
Honestly, folks, what the heck is going on in our nation when one political party has so taken over the media? Doesn't this represent a threat to our very democracy?

Really amazing times, aren't they?
I'd like to be an historian 50 years from now, to write the story of the MSM skullduggery in this election. Speaking of The Chosen One? Have you ever heard of a presidential candidate as a weapon before? I'm starting to see a real patter in the email to the Boortz Show; threatening email. Generally the line goes something like ... "You people (the evil rich) just wait until Barack Obama is president .. then we'll take care of you." Well, yeah. Right now I fully expect Obama to become our next president, thanks to the immaturity of the American voter .. and I fully expect the evil, nasty, disgusting rich to come under full attack from many fronts when that happens. Let's just see how that works out for us.

Nothing New Here
October 1, 2008 - 09:27 ET by mbs6Every Presidential debate moderator and VP debate moderator in my entire lifetime has been in the tank for the Dem. At the very least, I'll bet none of them has ever voted for the Republican candidate. Yes, it's irritating that (schockingly) Ifill is in the tank for Obama, but even more annoying is that the Republicans continue to allow this coup by the left. The future of the country hangs in the balance, and they allow the left to control the whole platform. They should demand that two of the moderators be conservative. During the RNC convention I heard the phrase "the Democrats and their friends in the media" spoken several times. How about backing up the accusation by not participating in debates which are essentially traps given completely from liberal points-of-view, by liberal "journalists."

October 1, 2008 - 09:41 ET by mbs6Replying to my own message, Bob Schieffer is moderating one of the upcoming presidential debates and back in the 80s he wrote a book basically saying Reagan was the stupidest person to ever occupy the oval office. Here's the URL: http://www.amazon.co...
Also, when the moderators were announced, the people at Huffington Post were upset that a conservative like Schieffer should be allowed to moderate! I kid you not: http://www.huffingto...

October 1, 2008 - 09:36 ET by NoMoreClintonsAny decision to replace this biased and conflicted "reporter" is not up to "the media" as some here must mistakenly believe. It is up to the Commission on Presidential Debates, a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation. Tax laws say that: Organizations with this classification are prohibited from conducting political campaign activities to influence elections to public office.
It would seem that if they don't scramble to replace this ill-suited moderator that they could be jeopardizing their status as a nonprofit because one could make a case that by allowing this woman to perform as moderator, now knowing her all-too-apparent conflict of interest and favoritism towards the 0bama campaign, that they are attempting to "influence" the election. It couldn't be any plainer.

This is a portion of his note
First, it is an unprecedented government bailout that will almost certainly pave the way for even more government bailouts at the expense of the American taxpayer - maybe sooner rather than later. Second, it requires people at Treasury to make tens of thousands of judgment calls about what they buy and for how much. The people making these decisions will be people from Wall Street who want to go back, causing great concern for biases and even corruption. Third, there has been no adequate discussion of the major reforms needed. I am afraid this big government first step helps ensure that Congress will not make those strong reforms - like breaking up Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and requiring cash down for home purchases. I believe we should work to address the root cause of these problems so we can avoid future widespread economic troubles instead of simply expecting American taxpayers to pay the bill.

Surprise???
October 1, 2008 - 11:11 ET by cvgbuckeyeWhy in the world would this surprise ANYONE; let alone regulars at newsbusters?
Christmas tree getting filled...quickly
October 1, 2008 - 11:13 ET by bigtimerWell the good old bail-out bill is getting filled rather quickly in the latest report...
Yep, they have to add their earmarks...
Look at this folks...you won't believe it...
This link is from Hot Air...
This started out a 3 pg. bill, then to 110 in the House, now it is up to 450 pages in the Senate...
And they want to call this a rescue bill...
These people are insane...
I am calling Tom Coburns office today...hoping he will filibuster this bill!
Color me furious!

Wooden Arrows
October 1, 2008 - 11:56 ET by bigtimerGary, can you believe some of these earmarks....
Wooden arrows for children to play with getting taxed, you know that has to be a tree hugger...
Rum having an excise tax on it from other places...
Something about wool....
...on and on...
Believe me, this is horrendous...and people had better pay attention and call before they vote this evening.
I am waiting a few hours to call Coburns office to give it some time, to see what he thinks of all of this...I know if anybody that has the guts to filibuster this BS inserted that have nothing to do with this bail-out, he would.

Thank you for the link. OUTRAGEOUS! These idiots, our idiots, are more concerned about bribing each other than putting out a straight piece of legislation without pork.
They just can't help themselves anymore. Therefore, perp-walk the SOB's out of their offices for failure in their fiduciary duties to the public, extortion and bribery.
Also, the most recent update to your link states Coburn voted FOR this mess. That's how bad the fix is in for this "crap sandwich" (John Boehner's words).
Hi Strat... How could
October 1, 2008 - 13:35 ET by bigtimerHi Strat...
How could they say Sen. Coburn voted for this...when they haven't even voted yet in the Senate...they don't vote until tonight, unless they are talking about some congressman in the House.
I would truly be shocked if he voted yes with what is in it.
I will have to check into this, was it maybe a floor speech this morning?
I cannot imagine him doing this, at all.

October 1, 2008 - 13:52 ET by stratmanFrom your link (last paragraph):
Now I'm confused too. Does Coburn "support it" prior to a vote or did he actually vote for the bill? Or is this statement about some other bill than the current one in consideration?
Bigtimer, I will defer to your expertise in this area.

My expertise...I don't have any expertise...I learned long ago to quit being shocked by some of the critters in congress and their votes...as maddening and sad as it is at times...
I went to his site and read what was written on the 29th about this issue...but that was two days ago now, so a lot has been added and I tried his office and it is busy, I will not stop trying to get through either...along with with some other Senators who I want to talk to, well their staffers in the office.
Anyway, thanks for this info. I'll get back to this and let you know what he says now about all of this if I get through that is...

October 1, 2008 - 14:54 ET by bigtimerstrat...
I just got through...his staffer says he doesn't know now how he will vote, that his is going through all the added additions of earmarks now...
I told him how I felt, we talked for about five minutes...
I don't know, guess we shall see in about three or so hours from now I guess...
I also explained that if anyone in the Senate was going to stop this madness with all the pork it had to be him, that he would be a hero out here to us that are against this getting crammed down our throats, that I hoped he would filibuster this...
anyway...anyone else that knows the work of Dr. Coburn and feel the same the number is 202-224-5754...we need all the help we can get...
For those of you who haven't seen the outrageous pork added look here, this is from Hot Air...you cannot believe it!
...this isn't a bail-out, it's graft for votes...that we pay for.

How long before this is front-page news, with a "special report" from Chrissy and Keiffy?

IJ... I haven't had time
October 1, 2008 - 12:11 ET by bigtimerIJ...
I haven't had time to go through everything since it has been updated, I heard about this on Fox Business this morning, I was furious...
These people just do not quit, they just do business as usual and think we are all dumb out here...and they wonder why we are outraged...
the timing of this vote this evening to makes me angry...
Btw...they lose in the Supreme Ct. with the billions of dollars reduced they wanted for the so-called victims of the Valdez oil spill for Exxon to pay, if anybody realized how much they have already invested and paid out, they wouldn't believe it.
You should of seen the outright stealing, graft whatever term you want to use during the oil spill that Exxon was charged ect...I could write a book...I worked on the oil spill, Seward became the hub of the work center form Prince William Sound...
They never quit...
This whole thing with the earmarks is absolutely outrageous...let alone the Bail-Out bill to begin with...
... I listened to them all I could stand yesterday on the Senate floor saying we need to change the name to the Rescue package, saying the
