Weekend Sports Open Thread

My apologies, sports fans. Between Palin, DNC, RNC, and Gustav, I forgot this was the opening weekend of college football.

See how screwed up my priorities are right now?

Pick your sport, pick your team, and go at it.

Football is here!

The local Big XII Teams Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma get started today.

I like Missouri's chances to run the table, since most of their starters are returning including stud QB Chase Daniel. KU will have a hard time repeating their incredible season capped with an Orange Bowl victory over a good Va Tech team, but their team has some new respect. The upcoming game at Arrowhead will be another huge matchup like last year.

Speaking of Arrowhead (which has sold the naming rights), the lowly Kansas City Chiefs are going to finish at the bottom of the AFC West and contend for next year's draft pick. All parts of the field (Offense, Defense, Special Teams, Waterboy) are in horrible shape. Herm Edwards is proving to be a dissapointment of a head coach and this could be the final year for GM/President Carl Peterson if they don't finish at least better than 4-12.

My local alma mater Pittsburg State University (D-II) is starting their season today...against Central Oklahoma just a few minutes ago!

Go GORILLAS!

Drill ANWAR

Go Gorillas!

Go Gorillas!

NASCAR...

anyone but Kyle Bush...nuff said.

Oh and Corvette racing team another 1-2 finish in Detroit today (77th win!) in ALMS, but then again I expect no less from Badboyvettes.

I predict

that the whole SEC will win easily against fluff teams while my Wolverines will lose by 2 against a powerhouse like Utah.

Fluff teams? 'Bama

Fluff teams?

'Bama (No.24) beat the crap out of Clemson (No.9), is Clemson a fluff team? BTW, I like Michigan and root for them most of the time.

"Nuke 'em 'til they... oh hell, just shoot 'em!"

You're right.

Though Alabama plays Tulane and Western Kentucky over the next two weekends.  :0)

My boys at Wake Forest

My boys at Wake Forest started the season with a solid performance against lowly Baylor on Thursday and the best thing is our QB didn't get hurt and have to recuperate for two weeks or more.

Ugh.

Dave Wanstadt sucks. All that talent recruited, and Pitt chokes big time against Bowling Green.

It's Dave Wansadt

Bah

I spell it S-U-C-K

haha

Grinning Dave Wannstedt

Have you noticed that even if his team is getting whacked 100-0, with -200 rushing and -200 passing yards, that Dave Wannstedt is smiling

That was just grating to me whenever I was watching one of his teams play...
