The second Bush flood

I'm waiting for the shoe to drop! "Why is Bush trying to bolster his reputation by travelling Europe when the people in the midwest are suffering so badly with this 100 year flood?"

God bless those poor people! Did anyone happen to notice the behavior of these fine hard working people compared to Katrina?

I've experienced flooding, MY PRAYERS ARE WITH THEM

Where's FEMA with my trailer?

Really, I don't need one - I'm dry.

Iowa vs. Katrina?  It's the difference between a citizenry who still thinks they should take care of themselves first, and maybe the Gov't can help...rather than sitting on their butts waiting for FEMA come and make it all better.

President Bush

The poor man can't win. He goes to Europe to shore up alliances against terrorism and there's a flood in Iowa. But Hell, give a "liberal" 95% of what he wants and he'll just bitch about the other 5%. Ignore the creeps. Ann Coulter has it right. He's been a great president and history will prove it.

Happy Father's Day to all!

Who is Barry Sotero?

NEVER, NEVER trust a "liberal

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to all the dads here!

Just on my way to go to the cemetery to place flowers on my dad's grave.  Those of you who still have your dad, give him a big hug and tell him how much you love him!

"It isn't that liberals are ignorant, it's just that they know so much that isn't so" - Ronald Reagan

What could the President do?

I'm in the flooded area, and for the life of me, I don't know what a Presidential visit would accomplish.  I don't need the President to come and tell me he cares.  From what I know of Mr. Bush, I'm sure he does.  Back in '93 during our last 500 year flood Clinton flew out for some photo ops throughout the flooded areas.  I can't say that anyone really noticed a difference after he was here.

When you put the clowns in charge, don't be surprised when a circus breaks out.

»→ right viking

Guess the flight paths could have been shut down for several hours while the President went gawking.

BTW, that last 500 year flood.  Guess that would have been 1593, wasn't it?

McCain's perspective right-after his POW experience

Is covered today at (speak of the Devil) Reason's Hit & Run blog. I find it interesting, and mildly amusing, that it took the author making a FOIA request to get what seems like a plain-vanilla essay for a US Navy officer at the time.

The tax & spend drug war looks racist in the real world.

First Father's Day

"More than 1,000 were newly fatherless, their lives blown apart a few months earlier in nearby
Monongah by the worst coal mining disaster in American history. Of the 361 men killed in the Dec. 6,
1907, blast, some 250 were fathers.

Fathers who should be remembered and honored with their own special day, Clayton decided.

So she made it happen" (WV A&H)

"“immigrant labor as part of a strategy to provide cheap labor for the
newly opened mines, as well as to help thwart unionization efforts

From 1897 through 1902, labor unions, particularly the Knights of Labor
and then the United Mine Workers of America, undertook extensive
unionization efforts at Monongah.  Although unsuccessful, the push for
unionization encouraged the mine owners to replace the homegrown part
of the work force with immigrants.”" (review citing Davitt McAteer’s new book Monongah,)

Giles the Socialist

Thanks for continuing to reveal your Socialism.

Unions ONCE had a use. Now their only use is for running jobs off by pricing labor out of the market.

Public school teacher getting bilingual pay.

  • LYDSEXICS UNTIE

seem to have trouble spelling

Not quite sure what point you are attempting to make: A bilingual teacher would have quite a long list of skills, so trying to insinuate or use as a put-down seems to be yet another feeble attempt at diverting a conversation to a level you're comfortable with - insulting rather than substantive.

FYI: You are aware that there were many schools teaching ONLY in the
native language of the local immigrants after the turn of the 20th
century and into the Depression era, right?

Thanks for trying.

Really?

Really? My mother sure as all hell couldn't find any German language schools.

The school's response: "Too bad. You are in America now." By the way, that was also my grandmother's response.

She would turn in her grave if she knew I was working on knowing her native language.

Thanks for trying.

Missouri, Ohio, Iowa

Missouri, Ohio, Iowa. Most any thorough Am. Hist. book discussing history of schools and immigrants talks about it.

Never mistake Socialism with our founding documents

Government "of the people, by the people, for the people" already exists and has since 1776. 1787 if you go by the Constitution's existence.

I should know. I spent a good chunk of this year in direct support of fighting on its behalf.

Nowhere in those words that you quote do I see anything about stealing from others to get what you should be earning all by yourself, crippling the economy, or strangling the nation's ability to protect and defend itself. ALL things that, from the history of your posts, you ache to do.

Better insulting at fifth grade recess? Well, I don't remember hearing people called elitist snobs at fifth grade recess...as I shall now call you.

hi Jack

i'm using a favorites tab in IE that I've used for over a year.  I was able to back in from a tab i kept to follow a particular thread.  Also i tried a live-search for NB and their link brought me to the other site.  In addition i have contacted others who have the same problem so it's not in my computer.

It's a DNS Issue

Someone forgot to pay the Domain Name registration bill...and things were briefly SNAFU....the bill got paid, but there are probably some DNS servers out there that are still SNAFU.

I wondered if NewsBusters was hacked, if the web master went dark to put up the new site, or make revisions to the current site.

The Republican Revolution will not be Televised

Right on JT

The democrat controlled congress is more than willing to impoverish all of us - especially the poor who get hit hardest - in order to force us out of our cars to save us from the bogus Global Warming monster.

Not only is the left in denial (or dishonest) about warming - which has been almost non-existent for the last ten years, but one of the major so-called "future" gasoline replacements, hydrogen, is constantly misrepresented in the press as some kind of source energy - which it is not.

It takes huge amounts of electricity to extract hydrogen from water.  That means dozens (if not hundreds) of new nuclear power plants, and wind farms to supply enough electricity to convert from gasoline and diesel.  Not to mention the twenty to thirty years to allow for purchasing a whole new fleet of of truck, cars and buses, etc.

We need more oil to carry us through the transition.  And we need leftists to get honest about the necessity of nuclear for the future.

Everyone.  Email and call your representatives.  Lets put some pressure on these nitwits.

NBC Trying to buy Weather Channel

Anyone see this?  Working on all the pieces, GE, using NBC to push global warming agenda in order to make big bucks on their "green" products, now is going to buy the Weather Channel.

Of course the NYT did not include this in their report:

An obvious attempt to positively reinforce bad choices with Welfare from the pockets of Americans who have made better choices.

I thought he had a good speech going, given it was a Black Church, and many of the seats normally taken by women and small children were filled by men.

Context on an allegedly "sick liberal" (Reagan appointee!) judge

The NB editors' picks are once again reflecting a mindless antilibertarian bias similar to the news media's, and another corrective post from me is therefore needed. Let's face something, whether or not the NB masthead has yet noticed the obvious: The LA Times did their usual biased, crappy job of covering this one.

Reason said so, early, and I noted O'Reilly had whined about it on the Vibrator Factor, but NB, despite its charter, didn't bother to notice the crappy media coverage. Lessig said so but NB didn't notice the crappy media coverage again. Overlawyered said so, but NB not only didn't notice blatantly-crappy "journalism," the NB masthead mindlessly called Alex Kozinski "liberal," proving once and for all that the L-word has fully descended into NewSpeak as far as this site goes.

Let's face it, the Federal Judiciary has worse problems than a brilliant conservative (or at least let's be honest enough to call him a libertarian) Reagan appointee judge who finds a hilarious aroused donkey video (where nobody has sex) amusing instead of "bestiality," and on top of all that, it's not like AK's accuser is an unbiased fountain of "conservative" legal ethics. I hereby declare another NB dud.
