For general discussion and debate. Possible talking point: what now for Bill and Hill?
The Clintons may be so angry they aren't thinking clearly. They didn't realize they had stretched to the breaking point the patience of their followers for putting their own well-being above that of the party.
Is there an end game ahead, or are the Clintons so shocked and angry they don't know what to do next? Is it the Veep position she wants, or are they still looking to bring this fight to Denver? On the other hand, is this all about keeping the party divided long enough to assure a McCain victory that allows her a 2012 run?
Finally, what has this campaign done to how history will view this couple? Has their deplorable behavior completely stripped away the veneer that's been making Thunderbird look like Cristal for almost two decades? Can she go back to the Senate and be an effective legislator if she doesn't act like a team player soon? And, has his stock so plummeted that his days as goodwill ambassador are behind him?

June 5, 2008 - 10:18 ET by motherbeltWell, it's beginning to look like she won't get the VP nod....(sorry, the link is extremely slow to load).
I know it won't happen, but I wish Obama would just tell her to go away, and to take her husband with her!
No
June 5, 2008 - 10:29 ET by cvgbuckeyeI would not vote for a Clinton or any other dem, if they were the last people on earth BUT, if our own candidates had the committment to Conservatism as this woman has to socialism and if our candidates had the fight in them that Ms. Clinton does, we would not be in the grips of a death struggle to keep the USA a Representative Republic.
Am I Watching The Same Election?
June 5, 2008 - 11:41 ET by zeestephenOut of 35 million votes cast, the largest primary vote in history, Mrs. Clinton lost to Obama by 40,000 votes, about 0.01%.
I absolutely do not understand the tone or the substance of the news coverage on this story at NewsBusters.
Is everyone here so blinded by Clinton-hatred that they have forgotten the purpose of NewsBusters?
Mrs. Clinton lost this election because she and her husband were massacred by the MSM, something they could not have foreseen, and something they had no previous experience with.
Bill and Hillary got the same MSM treatment that all Conservatives and most Republicans get.
Clinton's opponent, Obama, was treated like a living god who was forgiven of a multitude of political sins that would have destroyed any white candidate.
The Clinton's did not "stretch" their supporters to the breaking point.
The Clinton's campaign was no more "deplorable" than any other campaign I've seen in the last 50 years.
The Clinton's were politically stunned by the MSM assault, and they acted like people who were stunned.
The same MSM that claimed Al Gore was cheated out of the White House in 2000 now DEMANDED that Hillary drop out in 2008, even though her race was five times closer than Gore's, and even though Hillary had valid arguments to continue, namely, that super delegates are not pledged and can be convinced to change their minds.
I am also politically stunned.
The Clinton campaign was destroyed by the MSM, and no one at NewsBusters even noticed.

June 5, 2008 - 12:16 ET by zeestephenNoel,
I was speaking about this specific NB post.
This specific post appears to my eye as the official NB post-mortem on Clinton's campaign.
"Stretching" her supporters to the limit, and running a "deplorable" campaign are not what I take away from Clinton's defeat.
Yes, your coverage of the MSM deification of Obama has been flawless.
However, NB coverage of the MSM's savage treatment of the Clintons always carries a satisfied tone that the Clintons are getting "what they deserve."
In my opinion, if it is wrong for the MSM to treat me and my fellow Conservatives savagely, it is wrong for the MSM to treat the Clintons savagely.
Bottom line, Clinton lost because of the MSM, Obama won because of the MSM.
If that story is being covered at NewsBusters, please give me the link, because I didn't see it.
In all fairness, the topic
June 5, 2008 - 12:54 ET by stratmanIn all fairness, the topic of Hillary getting the "republican treatment" by the MSM has been discussed by a variety of posters.
I have been disgusted with the MSM treatment of Hillary since they declared her incapable of winning about a month ago. Who the hell are the MSM to declare any candidate dead when the race is nowhere near completed. Since the MSM attacked Fred Thompson even before he declared his candidacy, and then pettily attacked his choice of shoes on his first big campaign stop, I have been disgusted by the gerrymandering of this election by the MSM.
I am not for Hillary. But I am for her being able to wage her desire to campaign to the conclusion of the primaries or whenever she decides to fold, free of MSM electioneering and manipulation.
Whether the out of control MSM is one bastard child of McCain-Feingold campaign finance reform mess, or if it is the culmination of Leftist MSM infiltration that considers itself free to perform activist journalism, the subversion of the election process of the MSM is an abomination in this Republic.

This whole cycle has been jury rigging by teh MSM, a practice declared illegal by election laws. The press is supposed to be impartial and why they get the leeway in election laws, but when they are not then what they do is illegal.

June 5, 2008 - 12:10 ET by Ten7sGood questions all, ... In fairness, the point that the MSM has sandbagged Hillary as though she were a Republican has been covered quite a lot here at NB. But it seems that one of the pitfalls of feverishly correcting the mendatious MSM is moving so fast that the MSM gets to frame the issues/debates. So with the apparent assension of Sen. Barack Hussein Obama to the Dem nomination, some may have lost focus on the bigger (and often raised by NB) issue, namely the MSM is completely in the tank for BHO.
And didn't Sen. Hillary actually win the pop. vote in the Dem primary? Where's the outrage from all of the Dems who for nearly eight years have been carping, "We wuz' robbed!"?
And with the Dem system that includes Superdelegates that can switch at any time until the nominee is officially choosen in November, there's really no reason for Hillary to conceed, esp. if she won the popular vote.
From my personal perspective, the most interesting thing about this primary is how thoroughly and evenly divided the Dem Party seems to be.

Someone said it -- there are no recession conditions; there was no recession; the sky didn't fall.
Once again, President Bush has continued the free market conditions necessary to keep the economy moving. Will the press ever report this? Will the Dims ever recognize this? Or will the next MSM headline be: "We're in a recession now; headed for a Depression"? Or will Pelosi and Reed continue to say: "but, but, but, but,...."?

June 5, 2008 - 12:27 ET by motherbeltYou have that right, ckc. But McCain doesn't seem to care. When I think of reading that at one time he thought of quitting the Republican party, was going to caucus with the Dems as an independent, it just makes me want to scream.

Then he goes out and bashes Bush on Katrina, AGW, "mismanagement" (!) of the war and whatever else he can think of. Bush raised millions of dollars for him and he didn't even want his company! What was it Bob Dole called McClellan? A "total ingrate." Appropriate to McCain too.

I be they would've loved to have used "grim milestone" but that phrase has already been trademarked for exclusive use with regard to Iraq casualties.

Something tells me if the flag had been red with a star and crescent, it would not have been considered a "problem."

Good news, huh?
Not so fast!
Obviously, the numbers were down because the unemployment offices were closed for the Memorial Day holiday!

Truth is neither you nor
June 5, 2008 - 14:07 ET by NL207Truth is neither you nor anyone else in the general public knows the true basis of these accuasation. Not even blogger Johnson knows the truth. Nobody willing to attach their name to the statement has publicly stated such video footage exists. Until someone is willing to show the video, everyone ought to be silent on this.
In the meantime, all those who discuss it have the same credibility as Dan Rather.
Of course I don't "know"

A question
June 5, 2008 - 13:20 ET by ricklailWhy do all the pundits predict a big loss in Congress by the Republicans? I know they are lame but so are the Dems. Why don't they point out how gas and food prices have risen since the Dems took over in 2007? Are they all a bunch of nimrods? They are having some of the best issues hand to them by the Dimwits and they are doing nothing with it. I've complained to my congrecriter, Walter B. Jones, but he has his head so far up some Dem's hiney he is not listening.
With Obamanation running for the Dems why would people want to take a chance of the Dems running Congress and the White House?

I agree!
June 5, 2008 - 13:50 ET by billbAre we to believe that Republicans can't beat a democrat controlled congress with a 22% approval rating?????
Considering spending levels when they WERE in control...
June 5, 2008 - 13:52 ET by sarcasmoI'd say the answer is: "yep."
