Here in Northern California, it's 35 degrees this morning. On April 16! My pool is currently 55 degrees. Normally at this time of the year, it would be at least 70.
In fact, this will be the latest in the year we'll be able to go into our pool since we moved into this home in 1999. This normally occurs in March, but now seems possible to not happen until May.
How are things warming up where you live?

April 16, 2008 - 10:34 ET by TruthMongerRemember the election in 2006? Thought you might like to read the following:
A little over one year ago:
1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high;
2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon;
3) The unemployment rate was 4.5%.
Since voting in a Democratic Congress in 2006 we have seen:
1) Consumer confidence plummet;
2) The cost of regular gasoline soar to over $3.50 a gallon;
3) Unemployment is up to 5% (a 10% increase);
4) American households have seen $2.3 trillion in equity value evaporate (stock and mutual fund losses);
5) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $1.2 trillion dollars;
6) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure.
America voted for change in 2006, and we got it!
Remember it's Congress that makes law not the President. He has to work with what's handed to him.

Recently, on MEMRI, a dignified Saudi reformer expressed his pessimism
about Muslims. He said they were mired in myth, and were "regressing."
He did not have much hope left. Clearly, he understood that the minds
of men on Islam are not like the minds of men who were adherents of
other religions, but were much more akin to the minds of those men who
had been raised up in societies suffused with the ideology of such
political Total-Belief systems as Nazism and Communism.

Go down to the beach. Stick your feet in the creek. Don't drive to the beach, walk. Can't walk? Take public transportation. Don't have public transportation? Average April low for my area is 46 degrees. That means this morning's temperature was 11 degrees below average. And, that was at about 7AM. I bet it was colder at 4AM.
Yes, the pool is a bit shocking to me. We have a tradition of always being in the pool on St. Patrick's Day. Some day over a beer I'll tell you why. ;-)
Anyway, not a chance this year. In fact, our weather has been so cold that I haven't even engaged the solar panels because I'm afraid of an evening freeze.
Yes, we had a very warm day on Sunday. However, typically by this time in April, we've already had a mini-heatwave that got us into the 90s. We're not even close to that, and the forward forecasts suggest the rest of April to be quite mild.
If this is global warming, who needs air conditioning? ns
