For general discussion and debate. Possible talking point: Team Hillary is falling apart, and Obama seems to be pulling away from the once inevitable candidate. This raises some interesting questions.
First, is this horserace still too soon to call? Should we never count out the Clintons?
Second, despite Obama potentially have more votes and chosen delegates at the time of the convention, will the Clintons try to steal the nomination from him?
Third, assuming Obama wins, what will a Hillary loss do to the Clinton mystique and legacy? In particular, how would this effect the media myth that Team Clinton are the greatest politicians ever?
Finally, there's been a lot of blogosphere and talk radio discussion about how it would be easier for McCain to beat Hillary than Obama. Do you believe this to be the case, or think that once Barack actually becomes the nominee, a whole new horserace begins that will be determined by who campaigns best?

Still a lot of maybe's
February 14, 2008 - 11:15 ET by FastEd1) - tis only February, we need to wait and see if there are any early "november" surprises.
2) - theft is a strong word, finess and borrow might be a better way - clinton inc. has ways, and money stashed, so using the hypocritical view that is part of ci, there will probably be defections and monies exchanging hands, and then nothing happening vs. what was promised.
3) - ci will always be a media darling, unless the unleash on the msm(lsm) minions if they lose. Tops won't be able to keep up with the spinning that would occur. Remember, bill didn't lose the first time out, it was just a practice run, get the lay of the land (no pun) and see where the weak spots were.
4) - most interesting point - the hc (hillary camp) will NEED to have debates, in order to show what obama doesn't know (which is hugh), that he doesn't have any experience (vs the non-experience of the hill). If he debates, his non-knowledge should become apparent, unless the media spin machine takes the lead, making the hill into an attack dog. This will then apply to the mc attack, if the obama man gets the nod. Everything will become as-is vs change, old vs young, etc.

February 14, 2008 - 14:33 ET by motherbeltHe Speaks of no accomplishments, he has less accomplishments than Hillary,
Besides all that, Jay Tee, everyone is so infatuated with his race, that no one is looking at any of his policy proposals (yes, he actually does have some, in spite of the fact that he never talks about them in his speeches). When you seee some of them, you will see why he talks so little about them. Ken Blackwell has a townhall column "The Real Obama." Very interesting reading.
He says at the beginning (emphais mine):
Never in my life have I seen a
presidential frontrunner whose rhetoric is so far removed from his
record. Walter Mondale promised to raise our taxes, and he lost. George
McGovern promised military weakness, and he lost. Michael Dukakis
promised a liberal domestic agenda, and he lost.
Yet Mr. Obama is promising all those things, and he’s not
behind in the polls. Why? Because the press has dealt with him as if he
were in a beauty pageant.
He then catalogues Obama's shortcomings on foreign policy (wanting to invade a nuclear Pakistan, and to meet with Ahmedinejad), the economy and social issues, every solution to which is "raise taxes." None of which have been either examined or discussed.
If people would just stop looking at the color of his skin, and start looking at his positions, maybe some of the balloon would be deflated.
I would suggest that everyone here send this column to every person they know that right now wants to vote for Obama.

3) Abortion is irrelevant to this topic. Furthermore, how many women that get abortions identify themselves as Christian? I'd be willing to bet in a country where 60% of all people are Christian, the number is going to be pretty high.
4) A crime of passion again is not relevant to a methodical, religious practice
5) Allowing someone to die based on a religious belief is the same level of insanity as killing someone in an execution or killing someone for being a witch. I'll give you that one. Again, it shares the common religious nutjob theme
6) If the rubber hit the road would you die for your religion? Yes you would. What does that mean? You're all exactly as insane as the Muslims you so regularly rail against when it comes down to it. Christians and Muslims are willing to die for their religion. Wacky and scary.

February 14, 2008 - 12:07 ET by Dee BunkJust because there are a few nut jobs that call themselves a particular religion doesn't mean that you condemn a whole religion for it. That's why it's just as incredulous to blame all atheists because a few of them are killers.
How completely absurd to say that just because a country is our ally that we condone their backward practices. Their backward practices come from their religious leaders and would only intensify if the religious leaders ruled rather than the Saudi Family. I suppose you would rather have Saudi Arabia be like pre Sept 11th Afghanistan with the added power and money so that they could impose their beliefs on people outside of Saudi Arabia.
Of course women who call themselves Christian have abortions - many many many more Christians kill that way then do in so called exorcisms.
The Left are the ones complacent with the practices of killing people for practicing witchcraft, adultery, religion and many other things that the terrorists are fighting for. They are also the ones complacent in abortion killing and killing for religion (Muslim).
The right is not fighting in the name of a religion or condoning anyone who does. The right is fighting for the right for everyone to have their own religious beliefs as long as they don't involve murdering innocent people or forcing them to ascribe to a different religion.

February 14, 2008 - 12:39 ET by DCC1Obama is going to be literally 2 blocks from my house on Friday. So here is the big question, should I go as Che Guevera, and wave a big commie red flag, (don't have one so I'd have to improvise) or be a Huckahead?
Terrorists want change too
Clintons
February 14, 2008 - 13:14 ET by misterbill"First, is this horserace still to soon to call? Should we never count out the Clintons?"
I suggest that if you look at the recent resurgence of TB in America, it shows that bad diseases can rise from the dead. Never forget the two egoists until they have left this sphere. (Ref. Look at all the harm Jimmuh Carter has done in his dotage.)
"...will the Clintons try to steal the nomination from him?"
Does Pinnochio have a wooden nose??? Is there furniture missing from the White House??
"In particular, how would this effect the media myth that Team Clinton are the greatest politicians ever?"
Thay are legends in their own minds. With the wealth of the Soros crowd behind them they will attempt to keep themselves in the forefront of American thoughts for their next run at the White House.
"about how it would be easier for McCain to beat Hillary than Obama."
Challenge my thought processes all you want--but --here it is. I believe Obama to be extremely dangerous to America---BUT--not because he is an evil person. I believe he is naive and socialistic. I believe the Hillary (her and Bill) ,is the epitome of evil. So too, do I believe, after reviewing for the umpteenth time, McCains actions as a public official that he is a great threat to America. He is CFR, Open Borders, Amnesty--and more. He is all these things, not because he is naive and socialistic, but because he has an evil agenda.
I have been a Republican for over 40 years. I cannot, will not, vote for McCain--do not jump on me with the Supreme Court appointees issue. Tough darts to that. I spent a life time as an America first person. I love this country. I am at war with most of my fellow citizens who would pick this spitball, McCain, as their hero. He is JFK the second. I won't be around to suffer the effects of these SCOTUS choices. You who chose McCain--you brought this about. Live with it. As for me, I will vote a write-in. I will most probably write-in a candidate that you all basically ignored. A good businessman, Representative and patriot---Duncan Hunter. And if Hillary or Obama gets the nod--too bad!!!
Illegal Immigration is the key issue.
Iraq---We can affect strongly what we do in Iraq and the Middle East quickly and easily. (I am not discussing right or wrong here, just our ability to control things.)
Economy-- there are many things that can be done to impact, to our benefit , our economy. The economy has fluctuated ever since I paid any attention to it some 45 years ago. (I do not think the stimulus package wil have more than a fleeting attempt. My analogy is that I transferred my savings account into my checking account and now I am solvent???) Nonetheless, there are many controls.
That leaves immigration--
Finally, America cannot see the severe, dire effects of having a huge voting bloc in our midst, which has dual citizenship and, so far, every day displays loyalty to their mother country and not to America. Our country will disappear fast under McCain, Hello to Mexamerica. Hello to corruption. How are we going to control that??? This voting bloc will now have the power to sit back and decide how and what America is---who can come here and if we will be a North American Union. And of course we will be. why would an Hispanic voting bloc not open the borders?? Look at all the elected officials today who commit acts of treason every day to provide America's largesse to their ethnic compadres rather than for the good of America.
A bas John McCain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PS I don't contribute here very much anymore but I am happy to see the virulent attacks on Ron Paul have lessened. He never had a real chance, but he is a true patriot and did not deserve your virulent. caustic attacks. Unfortunately. we Americans like to make a goat of some people.
PPS Again, at my age, it is likely that I will not see the worst of these changes. A great number of you will--but--it is what you voted for.
I am going back into my cave for a few more weeks. I will stop bty to see if Unsane and his ilk rise from the dead to attack me.
Shakespeare had it worng--it should be,"First kill all the economists!"
HELLO TO MEXAMERICA
February 14, 2008 - 13:22 ET by sentforth5misterbill, I saw a bumper sticker just the other day here in Georgia that said "welcome to AMEXICA"
Remember, everyone...we can write in a candidate!

February 14, 2008 - 16:06 ET by misterbillWe are fortunate to be here in Georgia. We have a large number of politicians in local, county and state gov't. who are trying to compensate for the Bush admin's failure to uphold our laws by passing laws here. Also we have a good supply of Federal reps, (Gingrey and Price to name a couple) who are strong anti-illegal proponents and vote wisely for us as well as create bills to protect us. As for Chambliss, he will get my disapproval in November. I am over Isakson too. Bootlickers--Tyson?? Cridley?? Perdue?? Shaw?? Mohawk?? I am not sure which of these industries that capitalize on illegal labor supply the most cash to them. Hopefully Herman Cain will run again.
With no political experience I am so fed up with both of them that I would like to run against Isakson when he is up for reelection.
I am going on a rant here--I hope you know Sent, that none of it is directed at you--
I am draconian. One needs to be to fix the mess these fools have gotten us into. I say --enforce the law. If it is a Fed issue--enforce the law-- bill the feds and sue their asses off if they don't pay. Perhaps even arrest them and make them post bail in the sum of the cost of doing their work for them. Drop Chertoff, pardon the border agents--but fine them $100 dollars each for poor markmanship. Finish the fence. File a lawsuit against Calderon for his campaigning in America--totally illegal. Fix the asinine application of the 14th amendment--it is for the children of legal residents not any woman that sneaks in to get citizenship as described by the fools who have ruined America.
Next b****slap any fool who argues about in-state versus out of state rates in college--they should not be allowed in at all without permission to be in America.
Punish any minister, priest, or other religious group that urges us to break the law and support illegal immigration. Their congregations are falling away as the pedophiles , lesbians, homosexuals attempt to define their lifestyle as alternate and advocate that our children should join them. I support their choice for themselves--let my children and grandchildren decide for themselves--they do not need you to guide them there. Stop pushing your agenda on them. I do not sit here and say "Oh heterosexual is the only way to go, Oh please try it--let's teach it in our schools, etc." Y'all make me sick.Let the children alone . Let them find their way and their choice on their own.
One warning and one warning only to any employer hiring illegals. Give them a fair shot at proving they did not know. One week--then seize the businerss and auction it off just as we do with drug dealers property. If you want to get rich by screwing Americans, you will not last long under my adminstration.
The first SOB that accuses anyone of being a "racist" while dealing with white people--five days in jail painting walls white so they know the difference.
All Caucuses such as the "Kiss My Latino a** state Representatives" and Black caucuses will be illegal for elected officials to join. They are elected to represent America and their communities, not their race, creed, ethnicity or culture.
Gangs- create a pool of law enforcement officers from different communities--stop gang members on the street--(Puhleeze do not give me any crap about the police "profiling", even a blind man know 'em when he hears 'em), and send them to holding stations for deportation.
Prevent Corporate executives from moving large amounts of personal monies offshore. They are getting rich from the use of illegal labor then retiring to places where they are relatively untouchable after they destroyed the middle class.
Unions--get your Freakin act together. No company can afford to pay $50-75K a year to some dickweed on the line who mounts tires on new cars. Learn that proetecting jobs does not mean screwing the employer until he cannot compete.
(PS I totally support the buyout plan at American car mfrs so that they can substitute $28 an hour for $14 an hour.) The union should help to define the jobs that may be worth more. People in the plants should aspire to and work for promotions to make more money. The union should ensure that fairness in opportunity is applied in the plants and also explore the old profit sharing concept--if the company does well , the workers do well. For God's sake are they all so freakin stupid????
And you Mister and Missus America-- you a**h***s, don't go running to Walmart and butying the cheap shit that imperils your childrens' health. Look for an American label--I did-- I spent a lot of time at Christmas doing it--I was not toally successful, but I did get alot of American goods. You have the wpower to shut the door on inequality and unfairness, but you don't. Also you are so freakin stupid about your mortgages--what?? You never liked math??? and now I am supposed to pay for you??
F*** off!
Also you A**h***s in the banks and mortgage compamies--you better have a consumer rep on staff to give counseling and advice to consumers.
Thsi country has too long been chasing maximum profits as the American dream. I am not asking--I am telling you--that is not and never was the American dream. America and its opportunity to live free and raise a family in the relijgion or no religion of your choice. To walk doewn the street with no fear. To go to bed at night with litle fear that you will be vilated in any sense. To know aht is oyurs as an American, what it is worth and how it is worth fighting for. That's part of the American dream.
I am tired of all that I see and hear.; Wake the f*** up!!!!
Stand behind the truckers on the Mexican truck issue. Don;t let your Rep/Senator increase H1Bs etc to bring cheap labor in to eliminate American workers' jobs.
I will not apologize for this rant--I do not come here often anymore because of people like Unsane who say that if a person can only get $6 an hor for a job because of illegal labor then that is all that person is worth. And then at the same time say that he is opposed to illegal immigration. Sew your tongue back together. I think he posed for the heads of Janus.
Finally, I have a special place in my head for School boards and liberal judges. You freakin idiots have decided that our elementary school children need to know about anal and oral sex?? You should be removed from office or disbarred. You clown Wolf in MA--parents have NO right to determine any thing their children are taught?? I hope your children/grandchildren are taught that their Gparents are idiotice , immoral fools--like you!
Enough--it is so bad that anyone could jump in here and keep this going for another day.
misterb... I for one am
