For general discussion and debate. Possible talking point: Here we go again...Bill Clinton does another "I didn't have sex with that woman":
Clinton also said that everything he said in South Carolina about Illinois Sen. Barack Obama was "factually accurate," but a lot that has been said about what he said is "factually inaccurate." [...]
"A lot of the things that were said were factually inaccurate," Clinton said. "I did not ever criticize Senator Obama personally in South Carolina. ... But I think whenever I defend her, I, A, risk being misquoted, and, B, risk being the story. I don't want to be the story."
What color is the sky in Clinton's world? Do you think he was wagging his finger at the AP reporter when he said this?

February 9, 2008 - 15:32 ET by motherbeltRight, dervish. In the end, Bill Clinton's biggest problem is that, in his mind, it's always about him.
Even now, it's going to be about how "he doesn't want to be the story." However, since you asked.......blah blah, yada yada yada.

February 9, 2008 - 11:29 ET by Ruths husband BenI wish I could parse President Clinton's statement the way he does. In his mind, did he say, "I wasn't in South Carolina when I criticized Senator Obama personally" or perhaps, "I was being unpersonal when I said those things." or even, "It all depends on what the definition of 'ever' is." Gag! This man wouldn't know truth from fiction if he tripped over it. Finally, I would note that although he claims to not want to be the story, this statement is ALL ABOUT HIM.
And to think that about half the Democrats want him back in the White House! Says a lot about that party.

The Bigger Lie
February 9, 2008 - 11:44 ET by BayshoremanNB Staff, you missed the bigger lie. Here's what the Schlickmeister said just before what you quoted:
"Well, everything I have said has been factually accurate," Clinton said. "But I think the mistake that I made is to think that I was a spouse like any other spouse who could defend his candidate." http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2008/02/bill-i-never-at.html
Everything he said was FACTUALLY ACCURATE? Oh? What about the "Fairy Tale" that Obama was always against the war? Wouldn't it be nice to see a reporter confront him with a balant contradiction rather than just let him get away with such pronouncements? Not going to happen with the MSM as long as the Clintonistas have the key to the MSM (as Rush would say) Testicile Lock Box.

Will the pointless speculation end??
February 9, 2008 - 12:15 ET by sarcasmoIt looks like I was absolutely-wrong about us heading for a brokered Republican convention now that Romney'$ out, and I'll be the first to admit it. At the same time, I'll also admit (since nobody-else is likely to!) that I was 100%-right about Ron Paul not-running third party this time. I'll quote directly from last-night's email:
Will this direct statement finally end all the pointless speculation? I doubt it. Such speculation is far-easier mentally than actually discussing ideas, so I expect it to continue. But in my over-2-decades of experience with him, Dr. Paul says what he means & means what he says -- which may explain some of the intense hate I've experienced here, come to think of it. People simply aren't used to seeing politicians doing what they say they'll do...

Hi Sarc - Paul does seem like a man of principle to me
February 9, 2008 - 12:36 ET by Dee BunkI'd vote for him in congress or Senate if he was in my district. I'd even vote for him as Governor but I could only vote for him for Pres if it was against Obama. Obama is equally naive on Foreign policy but the exact opposite on everything else.
I'm really shocked that a lot of Paul supporters say they'll support Obama in the General. It makes no sense.
I'm not one of 'em, but I'll speculate as to why...
February 9, 2008 - 12:50 ET by sarcasmoIf you repeatedly & stupidly call intelligent, young, NON-racist small-government types "racist," despite scant-at-best evidence, you give them something to prove. If you then tell them "go vote for our RINO despite the fact that he happens to call Asians by an offensive racist term at times," you're about to get conclusive proof that youth rebels against hypocrite-stupidity, in the form of "President Obama." And no, I'm not going to argue the McCain case for the dimwitted-name-callers, either. You know me, I'm MUCH more likely to call 'em "dimwitted name callers" & tell the young Paul supporters who might listen to me to go vote their consciences, instead.
One story that hasn't been well covered here is the media-blackout against Paul, but it's been WELL covered elsewhere -- and this time "elsewhere" includes the Jay Leno show when Fox showed their obvious antilibertarian bias. NB has shown it's far from the end-all and be-all when it comes to media bias, especially antilibertarian media bias. Other competition has emerged & done an excellent job, and please note the youth-stats (right before Haley Barbour's warning...) in Mr. Kincaid's excellent article.

Sarc - at least Paul was allowed at the debates
February 9, 2008 - 13:44 ET by Dee BunkIf he had run on the Dem side instead he would have been mercilessly booed out or uninvited and Hillary and Obama sure wouldn't have stood up for him.
At least Paul was allowed at the debates and the Romney and McCain campaigns didn't organize people to show up and boo him off the stage. Yes he was booed at times as were all the others but it wasn't the same kind of crap that happened to Lieberman.
You say there was a media Black-out on Paul as if he were singled out. There was a media black out on everyone except the front runners and even front runners in the Rep party didn't get that much coverage.
I don't understand how voting their conscious is Obama unless the only thing they care about is getting out of Iraq. If that is the only thing they care about then yes, I would tell them to vote for him. Then their precious collective conscious won't have to be bothered with as many things. Obama will make many more of their important decisions for them on everything from how to raise their children to gun ownership to how to best use their property and spend their money for the government good. He'll also help keep Republican hate speech off the air so they don't have to think. Obama can do a lot for the people.
Not conscious, conscience.
February 9, 2008 - 15:49 ET by sarcasmoAnd if you read Mr. Kincaid's excellent article (again proving NB ain't anything-like the end-all and be-all of bustin' media bias) you'll notice that -- like me with NB's lame-ass polls -- Mr. Kincaid busts anti-Huckabee bias, too. But that doesn't mean the Ron Paul media blackout didn't happen, or that NB did anything like a good job covering the bias absent posts from yours-truly.
That's the nature of bias-bustin'! I call 'em like I see 'em. I may not agree very much (if at-all) with TaxHikeMike, but if NewsBusters tries to be biased against him OR Dr. Paul, I'll bust NB, just as I did & just as Cliff Kincaid of AIM did.

Sarc - is that all you care about what I said? That I spelled
February 9, 2008 - 16:04 ET by Dee Bunksomething incorrectly. Very disappointing. Oh well. I guess it's easier to focus in on that type of thing when you don't want to look at the substance of what someone said. I didn't think you would do that with me because I've always been respectful to you. I'm wrong again.
I don't deny that the media is biased. Newsbusters isn't biased they are openly partisan. There is a big difference. All this has nothing to do with the fact that Obama is the opposite of Ron Paul.
No, that's not all I care about.
February 9, 2008 - 16:26 ET by sarcasmoAs you saw, I clearly said I'll bust NB just like I bust old media. I don't disrespect you, but if you think NB wasn't biased against Paul, you haven't read the same blog I've been reading/busting... NB's been biased against Paul, like it or not, and it has nothing to do with respect or disrespect of you, it has to do with reality...
JMR
If this is winning, I think I'd rather lose...
Sar - you have completely ignored my point and mischaracterized
February 9, 2008 - 17:13 ET by Dee Bunkwhat I've said. I call that, on top of being petty and pointing out a spelling error, disrespectful. Sorry.
Newsbusters doesn't like Paul - that is no secret and you are not busting anyone. Everyone knows it so who are you exposing? You are just stating the obvious. Newsbusters does not claim to be an unbiased blog. It's like telling me I'm biased against McCain - duh! I say I don't like him all the time. I don't hide it.
You have yet to say anything about my point that is Obama is the complete opposite of Ron Paul on everything except cutting out of Iraq. Even with Iraq he wants out for different reasons.
NO, NB hasn't admitted it, like you just honestly-did.
February 9, 2008 - 17:37 ET by sarcasmoAnti-libertarian bias is a media bias problem that (in theory, and depending on what "liberal" means today) is ostensibly under NB's mission-statement. The fact that I had to repeatedly bust NB-bias is AT LEAST as disrespectful of me as pointing out a minor spelling-error is of you.
And I don't want to get into the foreign policy debate because you and I know we disagree on whether or not going after BinLaden singlemindedly (as Paul voted-for, whether or not anyone-here wants to admit it...) isn't the same as "nation building" in both Iraq and Afghanistan, which IMO hurts our national security. Hell, I'm old fashioned enough to think American border security is more important than Iran/Iraq border security for America. Weird, I know, and that's only one among my many minority views.
But let's focus on where we agree. I think the media's bias against Paul wasn't adequately-busted here because of NB's own agenda and bias, which YOU may have just-admitted, but THEY never-have. Indeed, Matthew feebly tried to deny it when I busted his last lame-assed poll, and in that instance I (like AIM's Cliff Kincaid) was busting anti-HUCKABEE, not anti-Paul, bias. I bust old media bias & new media bias without prejudice. I call 'em like I see 'em, and while I do respect you, we obviously disagree here. Busting NB's own bias/agenda isn't the most popular thing I do around here, but it might very well be the most needed...

February 9, 2008 - 17:39 ET by TinianTax and spend?
Texas congressman and Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul — who is campaigning as a critic of
congressional overspending — has revealed that he is requesting $400
million worth of earmarks this year.
The Wall
Street Journal reports Paul's office says those requests include $8
million for the marketing of wild American shrimp and $2.3 million to
pay for research into shrimp fishing.
A
spokesman says, "Reducing earmarks does not reduce government spending,
and it does not prohibit spending upon those things that are earmarked.
What people who push earmark reform are doing is they are particularly
misleading the public — and I have to presume it's not by accident."

And BTW -- I'm no McCain fan, but at at least he fought for his country. Unlike Ron Paul, who happily collected a government paycheck for a cushy REMF job while supporting the same far flung military apparatus he now despises -- a flip-flop worthy of John Kerry.
Ron Paul was a Vietnam-era flight surgeon. My Dad and John McCain were pilots in Vietnam. They have the ultimate moral authority in this realm.

February 10, 2008 - 05:13 ET by sarcasmoI denigrated racist statements made by that man, and I stand fully by my words. Your dad and "Soros" McCain have 0 (zero) moral authority over me. None whatsoever. This nation wouldn't have an Air Force WITHOUT flight surgeons, anyway. You're trying (see my comments about your stupidity above) to have it both ways on racism, and I'm gonna stick to you like white on rice WRT this one, so give it up. You lost the argument because you're clearly a hypocrite with an obviously-skewed double-standard both on racism and on service to this country. February 9, 2008 - 13:03 ET by ricklailLast night I saw an interview with a House member from PA who was a super delegate. (I can’t recall his name.) He stated that he didn’t care how his state voted nor did he care how his district went he was casting his vote as a super delegate to the Hildabeast. This made me think. It seems that these so called super delegates hold the power. It is not going to matter if Obamination wins the most delegates, the super delegates will put Broom Hilda in. The Dems are closet racists. They don’t want to see a black guy do well. What will this do to the black voters? Will they feel disenfranchised? I know they are not going to vote for a Republican so where do they turn? Does Hillary Rotten then ask Baruch Hussien O’bama to be her running mate?

Bill Clinton, I stopped beating my wife but I still beat on....
February 9, 2008 - 13:35 ET by Lame CherryThis is the staged problem in Bill Clinton's dive for Hillary in it is like the guy who reminds everyone he stopped beating his wife, but now only beats on n*ggers. (I do not use that word myself, but use it as Bill Clinton sees blacks. He is the one who made the just like Jesse Jackson comment not me.)
His dredging this up again only causes blacks to be MORE ticked off again.........gee and just when does he do it, on the day blacks will be voting again.
A black voter is very sensitive in hearing things differently than other voting blocks. They honestly hear this in what Bill Clinton said:
"I called Barak Obama a n*gger which was accurate, but the stories reporting what I said about Barak Obama being a n*gger is inaccurate".
Writing that turns my stomach, but that is what Bill Clinton was saying and that is exactly what black voters are hearing today and getting furious over all again.
Unless one grows up with the subtle, "Hey boy what you doin lookin over here", looks and comments from the elite racists of Kennedy's and Clintons, one can never understand the clever way that these powerful racists "southern sweet say things" to whip blacks into line without ever coming out and saying them.
Blacks though here it by instinct as they have heard this garbage all their lives.
Bill deliberately did this again to force blacks to vote against Hillary and I believe it proves he is not trying to win the KKK vote as while they know the code, this kind of stuff does not fire them up enough to push them to the polls.
The closest this comes to in recent times was when old Howard Metzenbaum of Ohio was doing his high tech lynching of a black man in Clarence Thomas.
Clinton was using the n word today deliberately. He does it in Dave Letterman code like all the elitists to, but blacks hear what is being said.
I understand why Bill is tossing the election, but this is one of thee most disgraceful and distasteful moments in political history in this nation. It is akin to the Bill Belichik and Randy Moss saga of bad manners.
I had expected Bill to launch into homosexuals or Christians, but apparently the polls state bashing blacks is all they have to do to loose.
Once again for the liberals, the n word usage is not my words, but Bill Clinton's code. I was only relating what black people heard today and are furious over.

"I'm mad as Hell in KS and I'm not going to take this anymore!"
February 9, 2008 - 21:15 ET by w0tmI can't find anywhere else to post this so I hope SOMEONE reads this! It is IMPORTANT!
Prelude to my tirade: my thanks and credit to Peter Finch playing the part of Howard Beale in the movie "Network" for the above #19 of all-time most famous movie quotes (and often my #1 most favorite). Edited quote appears below.
"I'm as mad as Hell (in Kansas) and I'm not going to take this anymore!"
As I watch television, I see various headlines to the effect of "Huckabee sweeps Kansas". As much as I can stand it before I have to change channels, left leaning news channels (all but Fox) then add snide smirks repeating Reagan's famous quote of "there he goes again" except, in this case, it's "Bible Belt idiot Kansans give us pause for yet another laugh that in the heart of fly-over country they still somehow manage to tie their shoes - oh, I forgot, they seldom wear shoes".
I have nothing against Huckabee and there were even a few people voting for him. There may have been voters for McCain but I didn't notice any at my caucus location (one of the largest ones). Paul's boisterous supporters made them appear as ten for every one that was there. The national networks are reporting a total vote count of about 15,000 with Huckabee garnering 60% of them. Heck, there were probably 15,000 voters at my ONE caucus location (four locations in the highest population county in Kansas).
What happened!! The "caucus workers" had time to reprint the voting instructions to remove Mitt Romney. But they did NOT have time to remove him from the ballot. Either that or they feared a riot if Romney was not on the ballot. As peaceful as we shoe wearing, educated, polite and civil Kansans are, A FEW MINOR RIOTS JUST MIGHT HAVE BROKEN OUT! EVERYONE was talking about voting for Romney. Those exiting were assuring those just arriving that "ROMNEY IS ON THE BALLOT!"
I've since learned at more than a few caucus locations Romney signs were first taken down then ripped apart when Romney supporters persisted in putting them back up. Romney campaign literature being passed out was confiscated by "caucus workers". WHO were these "caucus workers?" I asked one. "We're non-political volunteers appointed by the governor". Yes, the same governor who is an amazing socialist aberration in a Red state. She is to the left of Lenin but still the governor thanks to a news blackout on her political beliefs. MANY Kansans believe she is a Republican (recent poll taken by the RNC)! She gives NO interviews and her campaign ads are all apron on, smiling and baking cookies while children laugh and play in the background.
I'm only guessing here but it would be a safe guess that these "volunteer caucus workers" are right now logged onto MoveOn.Org having a great time cheering each other on over how much fun it was today to figuratively push the faces of Republicans into the mud over all the state of Kansas! I read on one blog a bit ago the police were called in Wichita after torn up but taped up Romney signs were restored so many times that fists began to fly. The media showed up and the "caucus workers" DISAPPEARED. What Romney signs remained were taped together one last time to loud cheers (per the blog).
Civil order was maintained because ROMNEY WAS ON THE BALLOT! I just read these "governor appointed caucus workers" were all instructed to immediately destroy Romney ballots. This managed to be kept a secret because the caucus rules were such that voting occurred in a short one hour period. Romney ballots were imediately run through paper shredders as they were dropped into ballot boxes.
IF his ballots had been counted, Romney would have won by a landslide! I repeat, WE PROBABLY HAD THE TOTAL REPORTED VOTE COUNT OF ABOUT 15,000 PRESENT AT OUR ONE SINGLE CAUCUS LOCATION! The (two) speakers for McCain were (politely) booed or given "golf claps" at best as was the speaker for Huckabee. McCain was given TWO speaking slots taking the one that was to have gone to the Romney supporter.
The Romney speaker tried to speak but was escorted from the stage with few people noticing as he did not protest. But people soon began to sense "this is rigged!" BUT we all had ballots firmly in our hands and Romney was on it so ALL WAS WELL! HOORAY! We were conned every bit as much as voters for Castro! Are we seeing the future? I fear we are!
Why were the RINO voters of two states (New York and California) that will go (D) in the general election allowed to select our candidate!
I hope there is enough left of our country in 2013 to put us back together again and restart our democracy but I fear there will not be. What you see on your TV screens tonight about "Huckabee sweeps Kansas!" (and assume it is the truth) is just a hint of the giant charade coming our way called the election of 2008.
All I just wrote I don't even see on Fox News. I saw no media present and I was probably at the #1 caucus location in the state.
Kansas? Who cares! Beware! Kansas today was the canary in the coal mine for the entire country.
I was there and saw the canary die today.
w0tm... If all of this is

If all of this is true I will be as mad as you. I do not like Romney as a candidate, but I believe that every damn vote for every damn candidate should be counted and made public.
I may not like candidates that people choose, but I will defend everyone's right to vote as they see fit, and to have their vote tally made part of the official election results. I still believe in our system!
The Conservative movement is about to be reborn.

Joke of the Day
February 10, 2008 - 01:32 ET by botgHillary Clinton, the lead Presidential Democrat Party candidate is for banning all guns in America. She is considered by those who have dealt with her as more than just a little self-righteous.
At a recent rural elementary school meeting in North Florida, she asked the kids and the audience for total quiet. Then, in the silence, she started to slowly clap her hands, once every few seconds. Holding the audience in total silence, she said into the microphone, "Every time I clap my hands, a child in America dies from gun violence."
A young voice with a proud southern accent (probably little Johnny) from the front of the crowd pierced the quiet: "Well stop clapping, ya stupid bitch!"
