For general discussion and debate. Possible talking point: Hillary wants to garnish wages of those that don't have health care insurance:

Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton said Sunday she might be willing to garnish the wages of workers who refuse to buy health insurance to achieve coverage for all Americans...Clinton said such measures would apply only to workers who can afford health coverage but refuse to buy it, which puts undue pressure on hospitals and emergency rooms. With her proposals for subsidies, she said, "it will be affordable for everyone."

So, government will now dictate what people HAVE to buy? Where does this end? Will Americans really get on this socialism express train, or fight against this obvious loss of freedom?

Talking point two: feel free to discuss yesterday's shocking win by the Giants!

Boston Globe's Jumps the Gun

Gotta love the crow The Boston Globe must be eating today for marketing this book on Amazon.com last week:

A classic "Dewey Defeats Truman" moment, if there ever was one.

Congratulations to the Giants. I still despise you, but that was one heck of a game!

A Modest Proposal

Why not just garnish the wages of uninsured people who use the Emergency Room?

Because...

that would make people responsible for themselves, and we can't be having any of that.

Forsyth County here in NC

Forsyth County here in NC is doing something similiar to that. If you owe the county money for EMS services, it is going to be taken out of your state tax refund if you get one.

"All generalizations are false, including this one.” Mark Twain

Not to nitpick too much,

Not to nitpick too much, but that wasn't the NFL, it was the AAFC. Should we start placing USFL, CFL, AFL, XFL records on the same level as the NFL?
I looked up the AAFC to make sure I had my facts straight, and also saw this little snippet of socialism:

Although 1947 had been a successful season for the AAFC in many respects, the league still lost money. In 1948, attendance in both leagues declined, and negotiations to end the war became serious. One factor affecting AAFC attendance was the gap between the league’s best and worst teams. To counter this, Commissioner Ingram attempted to get the strongest teams to distribute some players to the weakest. He was modestly successful: the Browns sent rookie quarterback Y. A. Tittle to the Colts, who enjoyed their first good season, and the Yankees were generous enough to fall into mediocrity. However, 1948 featured extremes despite Ingram’s efforts.

The AAFC would merge with the NFL in 1949. Interesting reading, actually, if you area football-o-phile like me.

Sounds like a Pittsburgh point of view

The USFL, CFL, AFL (Arena Football, I presume) and XFL (shakes head and remembers "He Hate Me" - Rod Smart) weren't absorbed by the NFL. The AAFC was.

Also, looking at the NFL Pro Football HOF website, there are 7 Browns players listed with the AAFC inception year of 1946 in their years of service. So, the HOF is recognizing those "pre NFL" years but not the undefeated season? A bit of a double standard.

Funny to see that there were New York Yankees and Brooklyn Dodgers Football teams.

"All generalizations are false, including this one.” Mark Twain

If you look at Y.A. Tittle,

If you look at Y.A. Tittle, the HOF lists his years of service in the AAFC, but not the statistics for his AAFC years. If you look at Steve Young's statistics, or Warren Moon's, their stats from the USFL and CFL are not listed. Speaking of the Browns, if you look at Lou Groza's career stats, his AAFC days are not included.

On the other hand, a player like Lance Alworth, who played int he American Football League for the Chargers, DOES have his AFL stats included. Same with Namath.

To me, I take it that, to the NFL, the AFL counts, and the AAFC does not.
And yes, I am a biased heathen scumbag Steelers fan :p

They will propose all this crap and enforce it with the law and federal law at that! America, get ready for a real screwing here. The 1st 2 years of a Hill or O presidency will be the worst because we will lose some of the Repubs to the Dems (RINOS trying to "get along"). After that we stand a better chance of stopping the left-wing plans but someone else who is not on the scene yet, or not recognized as such, will have to emerge. This is only the tip of the iceberg. She wants to control EVERYTHING. She reminds me of the old king sitting in his castle, playing with his gold saying "More...more...give me more!"

Maybe 'wicked witch of the west' might me more accurate.

She said herself that she had so many ideas that she didn't think we, the people, could afford it. Her solution? Taxes, more and more taxes.

Heaven help us!

She has been very clear:

Ernie Pyle Photo

Today Foxnews has a coverstory on their webpage regarding the recent discovery of the death photo of outstanding WWII journlist Ernie Pyle.

Today Ernie would be considered an Enbedded journalist due to his policy of finding an infantry company on the line to live with for extended periods of time, taking on all of the hardships the doggies of those units.

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,327974,00.html

This Leads me to ask, who in the MSM is following in the footsteps of Ernie Pyle?  I cannot think of anyone who even comes close.

Micheal Yon fits the bill in nearly all regards but one, he does his work on his own dime and publishes what he can as a freelance.

Shouldn't the MSM feel shame for their failure to find a modern Day Ernie Pyle?

Thanks for posting this,

Thanks for posting this, first for the obvious reason, because journalists like Ernie Pyle should be remembered and emulated; but second, because it inspired me to take a look for something else.

My grandfather was a WWII photographer in the China, Burma, India theater. This past weekend I was visiting my Grandmother, and she shared a scrapbook of some of his photos with me... nearly all of which were taken while he was stateside. Unfortunately, most of his work was destroyed in the Agnes flood of '72 (when I was 3), so I wasn't able to see most of his wartime photos; only heard about them.

So I did a search on Google this morning, and found one of his photos from Burma. Wish there were more, but this one was pretty cool. May have to order and frame it as a gift for Grandma (although her 90th birthday was two weeks ago).

So... thanks BD!

Hillary Stealing My Wages

Can someone tell me what the difference is between Hillary's plan to steal my wages for healthcare and what Mitt did in MA?

If his name hadn't been on the article below, I'd think Hillary wrote it.

http://www.opinionjournal.com/editorial/feature.html?id=110008213

"Every uninsured citizen in

"Every uninsured citizen in Massachusetts will soon have affordable health insurance and the costs of health care will be reduced. And we will need no new taxes, no employer mandate and no government takeover to make this happen."

Here is why. No added taxes. Hillary's plan is very similar to Ohio's proposed plan which will add over $3000 ($50B/year) to each person's tax burden. In other words, a family of four would cost an additional $12,000. Of course, Hillary is saying hers will only cost $110B/year or $366 per person. Romney's plan did not add any cost to the taxpayer and did not allow for additional government control.

Hermano... From what I

Hermano... From what I understand the first year it was in put in place no taxes had to be raised, but that's not the case any longer.

The Conservative movement is about to be reborn.

Wasn't the MA healthcare program changed after Mitt left?

...unless I'm mistaken, after Romney left office, MA changed the program, adding benefits...and costs.

Any MA residents out there who can confirm this?

Where's

Where's MassLiberal/Socialist when you need him?

Check out my exclusive edit of BBC News America's interview with Mrs Clinton: It's news to me!

CT, do you know the nature

CT, do you know the nature of this program? i.e. how is it structured? What does the government administer and what are the yearly costs? For my own part, if a health care program is going to be mandated (an option I would generally be against) it would be far preferable that it was run on a state level instead of a federal level.

But Mitt's plan still

But Mitt's plan still forced people to buy insurance didn't it?

A plan that garnishes wages doesn't necessarily reduce healthcare costs.  What about people that are paid under the table or Mexicans that cross the border just to deliver their babies?

I wonder when people will

I wonder when people will catch on to this little trick. You know, "we can get away with this because a Republican did".

The Conservative movement is about to be reborn.

Don't worry about your wages being garnished

By the time Hillary (or Barack for that matter) get through raising your taxes and giving it away to their special interests, there won't be any wage left to garnish. Then you can become one of their constituency and get your piece of a rapidly diminishing pie.

Going to be very

The rest of the clips sound like the libs are all glad that those who THINK they run the Republican party (Limabaugh et al) are going to be forced to eat crow and support McCain.

They seem certain that Republicans will hold their nose in the GE...they need to remember they have lost elections in the past by staying home. What makes them think Republicans will change now?

I know I said it would be necessary, to avoid the "unthinkable"....but now I'm not so sure. I don't know how much better a McCain presidency would be.

Hillary McLenin

Let's get this straight, Clinton will garnish the wages of Joe American, to "Provide" him with "Affordable" health care.  It is very Clintonian, certainly not Jeffersonian.

'Let's get this straight, Clinton will garnish the wages of Joe American, to "Provide" him with "Affordable" health care. It is very Clintonian, certainly not Jeffersonian.'

I don't know about you guys but I can't afford to have my wages garnished; so how is this affordable again?

Were was the MSM?

Last week I wrote several things about the New Baptist Covenant meeting in Atlanta on how it had very little to do with Christianity and a lot to with the promotion of liberal ideas. To prove the point even further I offer this article. There was hardly any coverage of this event by the MSM as far as I saw. I take it they were covering up for what was going on.

I did learn that John Grisham was a liberal who doesn't believe the Bible. I'll not read anymore of his stuff. If this is being intolerant then so be it.

Criminal Health Care

What people do not point out that Hillary Clinton in mandating the confiscation of people's wages MEANS THEY ARE CRIMINALS IF THEY AVOID IT.

That means JAIL FOR HEALTH CARE. That means making CRIMINALS OF US CITIZENS.

as far as the Giants winning.............

It is bogus or uniformed of people to be shocked that the Giants won. I posted on Newsbusters from at least the 10th week on how to beat New England. Apparently the NFL reads Newsbusters as the next week New Englad was shut down on offense. Each team though let New England win.

New England is not that good of team. Any quarterback when ALLOWED to stand in the pocket can be a great quarterback. When the Jags blitzed Brady in the 4th quarter when it was too late, Brady threw dropped passes.

Tom Coughlin last night repeated the very advice I posted here on how to defeat New England.

As a post script: Whether one cares to believe it or not, God has his eyes on allot of people in this world and He saw how unfairly Eli Manning was treated, Tom Coughlin and saw Plexico Burris praying.
Now behold Tom Brady, fornicating and fathering a bastard, the Pats cheating and the con game of Randy Moss who just got in legal trouble again for assaulting a woman in Florida like his past history of abusing women.
Moss stated years ago HE WAS AND CULPEPPER WERE TOO TALENTED NOT TO WIN A SUPER BOWL..........no God ever mentioned in it as God wins all battles and chooses victors.

Eli had angels helping him escape "The Sack" to make "The Throw". agtG

What is more fitting than God promoting the ideals of sportsmanship and prayer, than Randy Moss looking like in blasphemy that he was parting the waters and "had won it".
What is a bigger recompense.........going 18 wins and loosing the big one......or simply fading away at Oakland for Moss.

I know God worked it out right and at least half the teams in the NFL can beat the Pats weekly if they simply would make a game plan like the Giants ran it.

Oh and I predicted the Giants winning by 24...........they would have if the Giants had scored in the first half as they should of. I can not help it if stupid play calls lock a team out at the 20.

Wait 'til Hollywood finds

Hello Hollywood. Come on down!

Who decides if someone can

Who decides if someone can afford insurance or not? No one knows what anyone else's real expenses are. A person may make a salary within whatever range her highness decides makes insurance affordable and be paying the bills for an elderly parent. Then there are people who are wealthy enough to pay their bills without insurance, why should they be forced to support the insurance industry?

It would be better all around if the federal government would stop taking money from our paychecks, except for those expenses for which the Constitution says the feds are responsible. And allow doctors, not insurance companies or HMOs, decide what the patient needs.

Lots of Romney ads here in CT outlining McCain's true record

They quote what major publications,  leading politicos and conservative commentators have been saying about McCain's liberal record on immigration, taxes, etc.

Even though they're direct quotes, it's a guarantee that McCain will whine that they're "attack ads" and that Romney is playing dirty.
