For general discussion and debate. Possible talking point: Harry Reid takes credit for the surge working:
The people of this country recognize that the war in Iraq was the worst foreign policy blunder in the history of this country. And we've done everything we can to support the troops. It was us, the Democrats, who realized that parents shouldn't be buying armor and sending it to Iraq for their sons and daughters, so we pushed, and we got body armor. We're the ones that pushed for up-armoring the Humvees and other vehicles.
Rush predicted last week the Dems would eventually try to take credit for the war once we do indeed prevail. Any thoughts?

Genius
December 22, 2007 - 12:07 ET by iveseenitallBill Clinton is out on the stump calling Hillary a "genius". And many in the MSM have gushed over the years about how intelligent he is. Honestly, I've known very few certifiable geniuses in my life. And during his presidency, I never heard him utter anything which would put him in the catagory of intelligence the MSM does. Hillary's a "genius", Bill?; I doubt that.
BTW, what are the I.Q.'s of these two?
NEVER,NEVER trust a "liberal"
Hillary's I.Q.
December 22, 2007 - 12:32 ET by RJI'm guessing that Bill remains impressed, after all these years, with what he saw, or imagines he saw, in Hillary back in school.
Let's not forget she failed the bar in her first attempt.
But even if she is good at book larnin' (not proven), her Emotional I.Q. is down in the single digits.

iveseenitall...I'm not sure
December 22, 2007 - 12:36 ET by Jeriveseenitall...I'm not sure of Bill's exact quote, but it was something on the order of saying Hillary was a "genius" at understanding people's needs. In any event, it was not an assessment of her intellect.
She's probably as smart as any of the other candidates of either party. Obviously, that doesn't mean she would make a good president.
We certainly want our presidents to be bright, but, beyond that, I think actual I. Q. is fairly irrelevant, or at least ranks behind other qualities such as leadership abilities, judgment, common sense, trustworthiness, etc.

December 22, 2007 - 12:42 ET by iveseenitallMy point is that the word "genius" is thrown around today without any proof of same. A "genius" is a "genius". Hillary is not a "genius". Einstein was. We've dumbed down everything.

December 22, 2007 - 13:01 ET by JerWell, I'll try to make my point with this example: I don't think anyone would claim Grant possessed a prodigious intellect--and to say he was not a particularly good president is an understatement--but his abilities as a Union General in the Civil War could appropriately be said to reach the level of "genius".

December 22, 2007 - 13:40 ET by doug1950One might extrapolate from Bill's statement regarding Hillary's "genius" at recognizing other peoples needs as simply; She is real good at picking up on what people want to hear and adjusts her "program" on a case by case basis to accommodate those people with no intention of ever fulfilling any of them. Paraphrased: Wet your finger and stick it in the air and adjust your presentation to the crowd you are standing in front of today. That is why the Clintons have always used focus groups, polls every day or even by the hour. I do not think MENSA will be calling either of them any time soon.

Far Far Left Radio
December 22, 2007 - 16:06 ET by ricklailI made it to my folks here in western NC. The weather is pleasant. I was playing with my shortwave radio last night and run across Radio Havana. Talk about bias, this thing is far worse than the MSM. Here is a sample of the news headline: Police in New Orleans Brutally Repress Protesters Of Home Demolition. If you want to see more, go here. I assume that this is controlled by Fidel himself. I don't think that the ABC networks or PBS ever slanted news this far left.

Harry Reid is playing
December 22, 2007 - 16:38 ET by stratmanHarry Reid is playing opportunist. His accolade stealing statement is timed to coincide with the offensive "Charlie Wilson's War" which the Left are already touting as the real destroyer of the USSR (not Ronald Reagan's policies and the economic collapse and disaffection of the people of the USSR).
This is all revisionist history in prelude to the 2008 election. A decisive and vigorous response is required for each propagandandistic utterance by the Left. Failure to respond correctively will result in further Conservative losses next year.
BTW, has Larry O'Donnell, the ass who railed against the Mormon religion and Romney on the McGlaughlin Report, ever directed any comments towards the Morman Reid? Where is his moral indignation for Harry? A convenient ommission perhaps?

December 22, 2007 - 20:20 ET by ThisnThatBT, Saturday and Thursday late-season NFL games used to be a treat shown on regular TV. The money-hungry powers that be now want to get some extra cash, ro putting the games on premium channels is the chosen way. But I refuse to follow the money trail just to see a game. Ain't going to happen. But, I guess if enough people do follow the money trail, then the powers that be are encouraged to continue their restructuring, to get that extra buck.
