December 1, 2007 - 11:44 ET by PShannonIt has long been said that liberalism is a mental disease -- this survey just validates the anecdotal evidence.

Couldn't get this out of my mind
December 1, 2007 - 11:26 ET by ricklailYesterday there was some lively discussion about Hillary going to Rick Warren’s “church.” Couldn't get this out of my mind last night. Sometimes when things don’t make sense God will show you. Well this passage from II Timothy 4 kept running through my head so I read and reread and reread it.
3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4 and they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
Paul was writing to Timothy, a young minister. He warns Timothy as well as us about this time that will come “when they will not endure sound doctrine.” What is the doctrine of many so called preachers today? Health and wealth or the prosperity doctrine. This is dangerous. It plays out in many of these mega emerging churches. The Bible is no longer used. It comes down to you doing what you “feel” is right. Faith in what Jesus did at Calvary or His propitiation is no longer the only way to salvation. They have turned way from the truth and are following fables-false accounts.
The Church, the Spirit filled body of believers, will withstand the gates of hell. The church , those groups meeting socially, will fail.

December 1, 2007 - 11:44 ET by Jack BauerAs well as being mentally stable, conservatives are also more generous than liberals.

CRUISE BOAT SPILL PUTS PENGUINS AT RISK
December 1, 2007 - 11:49 ET by RJTurns out that the "environmental" cruise boat MS Explorer spill may be more devastating to marine life than the Exxon Valdez....but don't look to the MSM to publicize that fact.
Apparently, the spill is surrounded by "important breeding grounds for Antartic and Adelia penguins, and the largest mating colony for Papua penguins" (which are migrating through the area at this time).
The spill will likely also affect "sea lions, seals, sea birds, fish, krill algae and plankton colonies - key elements of the Antartic food chain."
The spill has not dissapated because it's surrounding by ice packs, and bad weather keeps crews from beginning a cleanup.
Anyone think we'll hear about the scope of the disaster created by the pleasure cruise of a few feel-good environmentalists?

Killing Off Conservatives
December 1, 2007 - 18:38 ET by Clear thinkerI normally get excited by the exercises carried out by those that enjoy the game of politics, and I would normally comment on the open thread starter question, but I have reached a point where I am losing interest in the day to day battles. Over the last couple of years I (and most of you) have seen small cracks in Conservatism that I thought I would never see. These cracks over time have turned into huge gaping holes and the only ones I blame at the moment are RINOS.
So to all RINOS and RINO supporters, I say... shame on you!
We have one more chance in the upcoming election. If you still consider your self a true Conservative do not help the other side by putting a knife through the heart of what Ronald Reagan started.
Even Rush understands who the real Conservative is in the present crop of contenders. If you can't trust Rush's judgement, who can you trust..... a RINO?

I'm really a fiscal libertarian and social conservative.......AMERICAN......not Republican, not Democrat, not "of a political party."
I would like to be even happier than I am. One way would be to take me off the Social Security payroll deduction and let me keep that percentage, give me back all I've paid in (MY OH MY how much that money could have made me over the years if I had been able to invest it myself instead of having it seized against my will), and raise my salary by the percentage that my employer pays into it. Much more could be, but that's a good start!

December 1, 2007 - 12:28 ET by iveseenitallRight on, Charlie. It never even occurred to "liberals" that they could get back what they've dished out for the last four decades in America. They're shocked that our country has become so divided simply because people aren't going to take their garbage any longer. The "sensitive", "tolerant" hypocrites found out that it was the conservatives who were simply being tolerant of their ignorance and stupidity. No more!

School Newsletter Omits Christmas from December 'Important Dates

Chavez
December 2, 2007 - 03:22 ET by UnsaneIf Chavez wants to cut off oil exports to the United States....
...LET HIM!
Because the oil coming from Venezuela is not the easiest in the world to refine. For Venezuela to get it refined, it has two options:
1) Send it to nearby Caribbean islands so equipped to refine it, and 2) send it to the United States where it is so equipped to refine it.
Some time back, Chavez wanted to send his oil to China. Problem was (still is), according to The Economist, China is not equipped to refine the oil from Venezuela. It CAN get there, but it won't get there overnight.
Also, Chavez is further screwing himself (and Venezuelans) by using a once-competent, efficient, and most important, knowledgeable PDVSA and turning it into his own patronage machine. In so becoming, its best experts and field managers were forced out in favor of political hacks, with possibly irreversable consequences to Venezuela's oil fields...which require tons of TLC to be productive.
What an idiot.

I work with an oilfield supply company here in San Antonio, and we have a terrible time getting paid for supplies we send to Venezuela. Back when a coup was "feared" a few months back, we thought a couple of high dollar shipments would never be paid for.
As for their oil, if we would drill here, we would probably be able to tell him to go F@#k himself. Besides, it is my understanding that Mexico has more oil than Venezuela anyway, and they aren't about to try any funny business when it comes to supplying us, lest the border be shut down for good.

Seriously good facts in the article. He's Reagan's best appointment, I'm even-more convinced than before. The proof is in both his good humor and the number of his clerks who go-on to clerk for the Supremes (it's almost a flappin' minor-league in there, and I never knew it!). And for those who'd object to the idea of him corresponding with a death row inmate, I can tell you from personal experience that this Judge is willing to correspond with all sorts of people on all kinds of topics. Some of it will no doubt come up if/when he's nominated to the Supremes, and I'll be furious. He's a very good man, and a great libertarian legal intellect.

I was originally only going to do just T-shirts, but you can blame my super-liberal/leftist brother for partially influencing me on doing thong panties. His company did up custom-made boxer briefs to celebrate their 5th Anniversary, with their logo on the front and the tagline "5 years ain't brief" on the back. They handed these out in a box of other trinkets at their hob-nobbing company party.
So, I then found this same manufacturer did all sorts of under-garments... and I could not resist the temptation.

Fred warns of Welfare State...
December 2, 2007 - 00:42 ET by Clear thinkerRepublican presidential candidate Fred Thompson said Saturday that election of a Democrat to the White House in 2008 would open the way for a welfare state where bigger government, higher taxes and defense cutbacks sap the country's economic and military strength.
"Our country is at a crossroads," Thompson told several hundred people at a rally at a community clubhouse.
Florida Mayor Rick Baker (L) appears on stage before the CNN/YouTube/Republican Party of Florida presidential debate, as he stands with former U.S. Senator Fred Thompson (R-TN), in St. Petersburg, Florida, November 28, 2007. REUTERS/Scott Audette (UNITED STATES)
"We know that the most liberal element of the Democratic Party has taken control of the Democratic Party, and if they win this next election we're going to go down the road of a welfare state," he said.
After warning of a government that gets "bigger and bigger," he said "I don't think the American people are going to turn the keys to this country over to the most left-wing part of a left-wing party next year."
"We've got to make sure that doesn't happen," he said.
Thompson's speech came on a day when most of his time was devoted to a string of fundraisers.
He never mentioned his Republican rivals in his remarks, but in a GOP race where some candidates have been criticized for shifting positions on conservative touchstone issues, Thompson asserted he is squarely in the Reagan tradition. "Principles don't change, circumstances change," he said.
In an interview published on the Orange County Register Web site, Thompson said he was "pretty much where I thought we'd be" in the polls but stressed that races in early voting states remain volatile.
He hinted he'd have to win South Carolina, or come close to it, to remain competitive.
"I must do pretty well in Iowa. I must do very well in South Carolina. And then once you come South, anybody who's keeping up with any of that knows that I'm ahead most places," Thompson said.
Rush Limbaugh stated that of the top 5 Republicans running for the presidency, only one was a true conservative. http://www.fred08.com/ Rush then stated that the conservative was Fred Thompson.

I've already got a set of brain-timers embedded: one to wake up in the morning, one to check the daily NB posts, one to make sure I go to work, and for God's sake, another to make sure I leave work on time.
Over the past few months I've also installed some brain-alert systems. One to catch the slightest nano-degree increase in temperature so's I can e-mail my "hurrahs -- and thanks" to Al Gore; another one to pinch me when it's time to tune into Chris and Oberman; and a third that reminds me to take my "calm-down" medicine whenever I hear that "Cackle" from "You know, the smartest and most experienced woman alive, or who has ever been".
