October 14, 2007 - 11:40 ET by RJAnybody see Pelosi duck a direct question from Steffy this AM about the Armenian genocide resolution?
He asked her how she reconciled the resolution with the real possibility that it would affect our troops....and she went off on a rambling non-answer.
She and the Democrats know perfectly well this could create havoc with our troops AND CONCEIVABLY BE THE CAUSE OF ADDITIONAL DEATH AND INJURY TO THEM.
But this traitor and the traitorous Democrat Congress "support the troops." Yeah, right.

Not just Pelosi today but Steny Hoyer did the same thing, plus they had an hour or better on this subject this morning on the Washington Journal with phone callers too...
Talk about the leftists that intentionally doing this at this time to just find another path to hurt our military progress and Victory in Iraq...because they cannot get the votes in Congress to stop the war and it would hurt some of them politically use this route for their agenda is past treasonous...the critters all had the same talking points too on this subject this morning...
Every single time they were asked numerous times, plus every way but Sunday, WHY NOW...they all avoided the direct question, they danced, avoided or attempted to change the subject bringing up genocide and anything else ..that happened in 1915.
Yeah they think we are really stupid out here..that we can't figure this out.

October 14, 2007 - 14:41 ET by motherbeltI simply had to drag this over from Neal Boortz's blog:
HALAL FOOD ISN'T GOOD ENOUGH
Here we go with another
"offending Muslims" story. Muslim students at the University of Toronto
demanded halal food on their campus. Fine. The school gave in and gave them a
long-awaited halal option at an on-campus restaurant. The new menu started May
29th and made all chicken and beef certifiably halal.
Despite these accommodations, Muslim students are still upset and refuse to
eat at the restaurant. They are upset because the establishment also serves
alcohol and plays dance music. This is, according to the Muslim Students
Association, an unsuitable environment for their dietary needs.
In fact, some Muslims are saying that they would have preferred that they not
given the option at all, because it is seen as a negative gesture.
Ahmad Jaballah, a former executive of the Muslim Student Association says,
"It's kind of offensive in giving us the food in a manner unsuitable to us." Do
you hear that folks? Offensive!
Two words. Screw them.
Yep, it's ridiculous and
October 14, 2007 - 14:50 ET by JasonCYep, it's ridiculous and annoying and disingenuous.
But if I may indulge in a bit of reductio ad absurdum argument now, let's face it: if an on-campus dining facility didn't offer some sort of Christmas or Easter-appropriate meal for its practicing Christian students or did so but in an environment that was outwardly offensive to some aspect of Christian sensibilities, a lot of you (and Bill O'Reilly) would lose your minds over the sheer anti-Christian affrontery of it all.

What am I missing here Jason?
October 14, 2007 - 15:13 ET by acumenNot trying to be snide Jason but what exactly is a Christmas or Easter appropriate meal? I'm a practising Catholic (all the guilt no glory) and I do not know of any requirement by the Church regarding what is "appropriate" to eat at either one of these celebrations.
Perhaps your faith is different. As a curious person I was wondering what food your faith considers appropriate or for that matter, inappropriate during the above mentioned Christian festivities.
I think goose or turkey,
October 14, 2007 - 15:20 ET by JasonCI think goose or turkey, with some sort of berry-based garnish is considered proper at Christmas, and lamb at Easter. If you don't care for my food-based analogies, my point remains that many Christians expect such institutions to cater to Christian "needs" and become indignant when these requirements are ignored or only met halfway.

We just straight up
October 14, 2007 - 16:35 ET by JasonCWe just straight up disagree here Blonde. first of all, I find it reductive to refer to them as a "bunch of immigrants". Second, I fully agree that the incident that the original poster was referring to demonstrates a wilfull obstinance on the part of the students. What I'm unwilling to do is let that sort of anecdotal incident of childishness shape my view of anybody else. My counterexample of Christian "demands", and I do think it dovetails with O'Reilly's annual squawking about the "War on Christmas", even if the food analogy was weak, was to demonstrate the problem of ascribing that behavior to Muslims in general.

Not following your thought Jason
October 14, 2007 - 17:35 ET by acumenMy counterexample of Christian "demands"...
Still trying to understand Jason; Specifically, what are these "Christian demands" or "Christian needs" at American colleges you keep referring to? It would help in understanding your position.
Perhaps we could grasp the Bill O'Reilly analogy better if you could provide just one example of these mysterious Christian demands, needs, dietary requirements, etc. at learning institutions.
If not, then perhaps you would want to focus your anger on Bill O'Reilly rather than mistakenly directing your anger at college Christians who to my knowledge have no special needs or demands. If you want to go down that Bill O'Reilly war on the war on Christmas road then I don't understand why you brought up the Christian needs straw man position. Do you also have a dislike for Christians? It would appear so. Once again just curious...
And my point, Jason
October 14, 2007 - 17:57 ET by BlondeIs that if someone chooses to come to the United States, to live and pursue life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness....they have no right to demand that we accomodate their particular social nor religious customs.
So, when they are offended at my ankles, or my blonde hair, or whatever...they can STFU! And if they don't like the food in the cafeteria...they can go elsewhere.
You're "childlishness" viewpoint is sadly, and sorrily liberal.
This is OUR home. If you care to enter, be forewarned. It's our house. Our rules.
As far as BOR...yes...I absolutely agree with him that the secular socialists have destroyed what is good and right about this country. We were borne in a Christian ethos...it is who we are. And if others are offended by our National Holidays...too bad, so sad...go back to whatever miserable hellhole you crawled out of.
It's not up to us, to accomodate every whim of the immigrants who come here. It wasn't that way for my family.
So...to all of the illegals, and the offended legal immigrants...go away!

Moving along Jason
October 14, 2007 - 15:42 ET by acumenOK - So now that we have established that there are no food requirements for college Christians and have moved on to the more general "Christian needs" at college, what might those be? Of couse the question pertains to strictly "Christian needs", not something that other faiths might additionally enjoy. Once again just being curious...
Jason, at any rate, you
October 14, 2007 - 15:56 ET by motherbeltJason, at any rate, you were talking about a once-a-year meal. This halal meal thing is day-in and day-out. Not quite the same.
You know as well as I do that this is a "camel's nose in the tent" kind
of thing. And you know darn well that Christians have never pushed to
have their religion catered to like this.
So now they want separate eating facilities. What's next? Separate halls for socializing without alcohol? Foot baths in all the dorm bathrooms? Or maybe in their rooms? Dining halls open all night during Ramadan because they can't eat until after sunset?
Jason C: You're confusing
October 14, 2007 - 17:51 ET by QueenMumJason C: You're confusing "traditional" with "required". And I don't know of any Christian faith which teaches that it's necessary to eat goose or turkey at Christmas and lamb at Easter. The only dietary requirement I'm aware of among Christians is the abstaining from meat during Lent by Catholics. Only the Muslims and the Jews have dietary restrictions related to certain foods and the preparation of food.
Please provide an example of an institution "catering" to the "needs" of Christians. Catholics abstain from meat on certain days. That means they choose not to eat it. It's not a matter of insisting that a food service provider omit meat completely from the menu.
If one is to offer an argument based on like treatment for other faiths, then the comparison should be made between the Muslims and the Jews.

Did you follow the problems at MSP airport? Muslim taxi drivers refused to pick up people who were carrying duty-free liquor. This, in spite of the fact that Islam does not forbid being in the presence of liquor, only the imbibing of it. Which is pretty much the line these Muslim students took: although they are forbidden to drink it, it would not be against their religion to eat in a place where alcohol is served and music is played. Here's a news flash for all you libs out there: once upon a time school kids brought their own lunches to school. We ate breakfast at home, we brownbagged it for lunch, and we had supper at home.
In the Las Cruces schools, the school cafeterias always had fish on Fridays in deference to the Catholic majority population. Kids that didn't like fish brought a sandwich or something. The Muslim kids can bloody well do the same thing. If they don't like, or have qualms about eating with the majority, they can bloody well bring their own d*mn food, or go hungry.

Rush's last laugh
October 14, 2007 - 15:09 ET by JDWFOX- A letter sent to Rush Limbaugh's boss demanding he be chastised for comments he made on the air about "phony soldiers" is now on the auction block, and the latest bid is a cool $41,400.
One hundred percent of the money raised from the eBay auction will go to educate the children of
Marines and law enforcement officers who died while on duty...
...Bids will continue until Friday for the letter signed by 41 Democratic senators and sent on Oct. 2 to Mark P. Mays, president of Clear Channel, the parent company of the conservative talk show host's radio broadcast. The winning bidder will get the letter, the "Halliburton briefcase in which this letter is secured 24 hours a day;" a letter of thanks from Limbaugh and a picture of the talkmeister announcing theauction at a speech in Philadelphia delivered last Thursday...
What will this letter be worth in 5 years?
How genius. How many more people are being exposed not only to the libs but to EIB?

Gotta love it!
October 14, 2007 - 15:50 ET by motherbeltYou gotta love it. Reid must have had a cow when he found out that the head of Clear Channel gave the letter to Rush!
You couldn't make up a better story if you tried.
Oh, and go to Rush Limbaugh.com and see the video of him making the announcement the night before, while giving a speech!
Delicious Motherbelt
October 14, 2007 - 15:54 ET by acumenI particularly enjoyed Rush's challenge to those that signed the letter to match the winning bid amount. In honor of Natalie's birthday I find the Rush challenge.....delicious.

Happy B'Day & Unhappy Apology
October 14, 2007 - 15:35 ET by scamoramaHappy Birthday, Natalie! I hope by the time you reach your majority, this world has made itself worthy of you.
Apologies to anyone who feels misled by my comments last week regarding OSU-Cal.
An OSU win?
Who'd a thunk it?
I hope OSU enjoys the win -- it may be the last one they get this year.
I know hindsight is 20/20, but I wonder if Tedford wishes he'd gone for the field goal on 1st-and-10 at the 12, instead of running the play that killed them.

October 15, 2007 - 00:43 ET by maggieqpublicAha, there you are… at least it was a beautiful day, and the Bears still have (Rose Bowl) destiny in their own hands... I did not witness this, but the word spread that the tree-squatter freaks in front of Memorial Stadium were cheering the Golden Bear loss (probably the same group of losers who “salted” the volleyball court --sand-- with hypodermics when the university dared add the court to People’s Park). Taken in conjunction with the religious dietary demands discussed in this thread above, you have to wonder why our public institutions are so accommodating. Oh well, Go Bears.
Happy Birthday!

Sounds like she's picking up where Daschle left off, being "saddened" and "concerned." I'll bet on TV she tried to look sad, but it's tough when your eyes won't scrunch up LOL.

What's up with Fred?
October 15, 2007 - 08:31 ET by TheGingermanTo Preface this post, I am a Giuliani man, but I'm still intrigued by Fred. I think he's a smart, no-nonsense kind of guy, which I can appreciate.
However, I can't for the life of me figure out his campaign strategy. First a late entry and now he just seems to be extremely lazy. He should be out pounding the pavement, not canceling campaign stops. Skipping New Hampshire is a bad strategy.
Makes me question the veracity of his Presidential interest. Does this guy even want to be president?
