October 11, 2007 - 10:42 ET by acumenWill he run?
Nah. Why go through the hassle when you have already weazled yourself to something much more prestigious - goracle status.
Not to mention all of those nasty questions the goracle turned presidential hopeful would have to answer concerning those wascally inconvenient truths recently alluded to by a British court. Since the ruling the goracle has not-so-mysteriously decided to escape to a more contemplative life....at least until his Noble coronation. Then I imagine the goracle will be jet-setting off to enlist more converts.
He should keep running......

The word "racism" means nothing.
October 11, 2007 - 10:01 ET by PeskyDaneDue to their obsessive over-use of the term, the Left has slurred the meaning out of the word "racism." It used to mean a sincere belief of one's superiority owing to genetics or heritage. Then the Left tired to change the lexicon to get the word to mean "anyone who disagrees with us." Now it’s just a phonetic arrangement of letters. It means nothing.

NASCAR Purist
October 12, 2007 - 07:28 ET by ricklailI think that I told before that I parked cars as a teen to get into the races at Hickory Motor Speedway for free and to get a free burger and drink. I am a purist when it comes to NASCAR. I am begining to think that the problem comes from them bringing in the foreign drivers. They are bringing in the diseases. HA.
The late Tim Richmond died from AIDS but that has been the extent of it.
I think that I am just about as redneck as they come with the exception that I don't hunt. I don't smoke anymore or dip either. I loved NASCAR at one time.
I am sick of what NASCAR has become. It is not PC to fly the stars and bars. The tracks like N. Wiklesboro and the Rock that help make the sport have been shut down. Most of the drivers don't smoke or spit bacca. At one time there was a host of drivers that were native North Carolinians. Now there are 4 regulars-Dale Jarrett, JUNIOR, Kyle Petty and Scott Riggs.
I just wish that the Congresscriters would stay in Washingtom. We all know it is not a fact finding trip but a junket to try and win the hearts of the NASCAR crowd. If Hillary showed up at Charlotte this weekend she would be booed in the way only NASCAR fans can do it. I don't think for one minute that Humpy Wheeler would invite her.

October 11, 2007 - 10:18 ET by JayTeeI'm not buying the Hillary popularity contest results.......Even Bill Clinton wasn't 50% popular with the voters on either of his elections, and we're supposed to believe Hillary is MORE popular than Bill ?
The facts are being inflated by the MSM...I'm sure that withinn the MSM the popularity of Hillary is somewhere around 90%, and being surrounded by themselves all the time, they don't see/feel/smell anything in the wind to tell them there is a Dead Cow on the road to the White house.
MSM is selling the "vote for the Popular Candidate" everyone else is....Elect Hillary Class president, she's the most popular.
Is Hillary more popular than 47% Bill ? I don't think so....I'm not buying it. Not based upon her Senate performance, after all, she's a member of the 11% Congress Approval ratings, and I don't see a turnaround in the near Future.
I see an Iraq War turnaround, and a good 'ole American congressional Backlash......A Pelosi/Reid wiener Roast with Senator Hillary getting lots of Collateral smoke Damage.

October 11, 2007 - 10:22 ET by Roger the ShrubberFormer president Jimmy Carter, the worst president ever, desperately wants to lose that title and tries his damnest to make George Bush out to be worse than him. The tactic? Why, the classic tactic of Liberalism: accuse the Right of doing exactly what the Left is doing: By creating his own definition of human right and his own definition of what is torture, Mr. Carter is claiming President Bush is creating HIS own definition of human rights and HIS own definition of what is torture. Therefore, using Mr. Carter's personal definitions of both, that would mean President Bush is torturing and violating human rights. Imagine the horror and uproar from the Left if a former president would dare besmirch the reputation of a sitting Democrat(ic) president….

Hi BT - The thing I don't like about Hunter
October 11, 2007 - 11:27 ET by Dee BunkIs that he seems to be too much of a protectionist. I'd hate to see our party go in that direction. He seems strong on other issues, but Free trade is a big one to me.
Thompson, Romney and Guliani are all people I wouldn't mind. I had been pretty down on Guliani because of his pro-choice stance, but I think even though he is pro-choice he would still be more likely to nominate conservative judges who wouldn't think the Supreme court should be dictating the issue. The thing I like most about Romney and Guliani is that they ooze optimism like Reagan did and I think both of them would be able to counter the Press when they demonize. I think that Thompson could be weak in that area and it's very important. I haven't seen enough of him to know for sure yet.
BERGER: IMAGINE HIM A REPUBLICAN
October 12, 2007 - 07:22 ET by reelman46BERGER: IMAGINE HIM A REPUBLICAN
Okay,
just fantasize a bit here… Sandy Berger is a 2005 Repub who steals
classified documents, hides them, destroys originals or adds whatever.
Imagine what the libmedia response would (still) be. Imagine how many
months the libmedia would investigate. Imagine how the libmedia would
seek to link as many admin Repubs to the act. Just imagine.
Now wake up. Berger is a democrat with the Klintons. He all but gets a
libmedia pass. Its 2 years later and no media are demanding he take the
polygraph he consented to way back. A few Repubs woke up from their
political deep sleep recently just enough to request Berger take the
polygraph. Now imagine what questions he will be asked (if he does not
snooker them on this also)… imagine just for a few seconds the special
investigation any democrat would have ongoing about this brazen theft
if it was a Repub.
This single issue is the perfect example of the aggressive attitude of
one “no moral boundaries” Party versus the attitude of the “pantywaist
get-a-long” Party. Two years. They waited two years. Some leadership.
What is that old saying? “An army of sheep led by a lion will defeat
and army of lions led by a sheep.” Baaaaahh.

ISLAM: SPEAK PEACE, ACT AND TEACH OTHERWISE
October 11, 2007 - 19:14 ET by reelman46.....Prominent Muslim scholars are warning that the “survival of the world” is at stake if Muslims and Christians do not make peace with each other.
In an unprecedented open letter signed by 138 leading Muslim scholars from every sect of Islam, the Muslims plead with Christian leaders “to come together with us on the common essentials of our two religions.”
The Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams, and Pope Benedict are believed to have been sent copies of the document which calls for greater understanding between the two faiths.
The letter also spells out the similarities between passages of the Bible and the Koran.
The Muslim scholars state: “As Muslims, we say to Christians that we are not against them and that Islam is not against them - so long as they do not wage war against Muslims on account of their religion, oppress them and drive them out of their homes.”.......
CRAWFISH NOTE: The solid evidence is… far too many moslems are making all kinds of cultural wars against christians globally. Also, many refuse to assimilate and attend hateful lectures in hateful buildings while pretending otherwise.
To issue some kind of warning that puts the burden on others is just too typical of why they are viewed with mistrust. Until all moslems thru word and deed publically reject “conversion by the sword” which was taught-practiced by Mo, who can trust them? Dancing in the streets after 9-11 is but one indication of their hate for people they never met. Hateful tirades pushing violence versus the “prince of peace”, some comparison. Sorry, I am not convinced the leopard has changed it spots… but keep trying… by deeds, not words.

Look what I found
October 11, 2007 - 10:50 ET by JDWExaminer: Google bans anti-MoveOn.org ads
...The ads banned by Google were placed by a firm working for Republican
Sen. Susan Collins’ re-election campaign. Collins is seeking her third
term.
Earlier this week, Google told Lance Dutson, president of Maine Coast
Designs, that the ads he placed for Collins had been removed and would
not be allowed to resume because they violated Google’s trademark
policy.
Google’s Web site states, “Google takes allegations of trademark
infringement very seriously and, as a courtesy, we’re happy to
investigate matters raised by trademark owners.” That suggests Google
acted in response to a complaint by MoveOn.org. ...
...The banned advertisements said, “Susan Collins is MoveOn’s primary
target. Learn how you can help” and “Help Susan Collins stand up to the
MoveOn.org money machine.” The ads linked to Collins’ campaign Web site
with a headline reading “MoveOn.org has made Susan Collins their #1
target.” The Collins Web site claims that MoveOn has contributed
$250,000 to her likely Democratic opponent and has run nine ads against
her costing nearly $1 million. The Web site also displays MoveOn.org’s
controversial “General Betray Us” ad. ...
Trade mark policies?
This is the company which owns YouTube, a publicly shared opportunity to upload whatever, yet last week Rush mentioned all of the corners he was forced to cut in order to use it.
Just like the Betray Us half price deal, media bias is being shoved into our faces on a more consistent basis. Maybe people will warm up to sen Clinton or learn to enjoy the new Google features.

Pope Attacks Iran
October 11, 2007 - 11:09 ET by acumenTimesOnLine - Pope attacks Iran at Jewish Congress
"Pope Benedict XVI told leaders of the World Jewish Congress that Iran was “an issue of big concern” to him."
"At a meeting at the Vatican, the Pope spoke of his concern about rising anti-Semitism and described how he wanted to use educational tools to counter the hatred of the Iranian leadership towards the Jewish people and Israel."
"Speaking to journalists in Rome, he (Maram Stern, Secretary of the World Jewish Congress) said the Pope had “recognised the question of Iran as an issue of big concern for him.”"
And that's all there is in the article pointing to comments on Iran by the Pope. Either the "Iranian leadership" has suddenly ended their "hatred towards the Jewish people and Israel" or the Times using the word "attack" in the headline is misleading at best.
My latest letter/rant to the RNC
October 11, 2007 - 12:42 ET by USA4freedomMy latest letter to the GOP
I believe that the GOP has taken the wrong road for a while. As much as it pains
me to do so a large part of the blame has to laid at the feet of George W.
Bush.
Your base, people like me who donate and work for the election of Republicans have
been “COMPLETELY” ignored.
Two things we think are important:
Less spending.
What did we get? Up until just the other day, he did not
veto a single spending bill. He is the first president to serve a full term
without vetoing anything since John Quincy Adams. But pork-barrel projects, via
earmarks — even tens of billions of dollars worth — are not what has dug us
into a fiscal hole. It is the rapidly escalating cost of entitlement programs.
(Remember that line: It’s “our” money???) Well I do.. even if they don’t!
Republican score: F-
Stop illegal Immigration.
What did we get?
I don’t even know where to start this. No fence. (The same people that
put a man on the moon in eight years can not build a dam fence.) Almost, to put
salt in the wound, the Bush administration goes before the U.S. Supreme Court
seeking to overturn the death penalty, at the behest of the International Court
of Justice, a division of the United Nations. The murder’s (because he was born
in Mexico) conviction could be over turned. This man with his friends raped two
young girls (age 14 and 16) for over an hour, before they strangled them with
their shoelaces. BUSH SIDES WITH THE UN AND THIS MURDER AGAINST THE STATE OF
TEXAS AND THE FAMILIES OF THE LITTLE GIRLS? HAVE YOU COMPLETELY LOST YOUR MINDS???????
I guess if it’s someone else’s daughters it’s no big deal.
The Republican score: F- (only because there is nothing
lower!!)
I told the last person that called from the RNC that they
will get no money until they set serious about the fence. My Mom, who gave
enough money to be invited to an Inaugural ball, tells me she is finished
with giving.
I have gone from puzzled, to irritated, to mad, to despising!

Totally with you on this
October 11, 2007 - 13:47 ET by MightyMouthTotally with you on this one.
The straw that broke the camels back (this time) was Bush letting the "International Court" override States rights. And in no small part the fact that He could possibly let a sub-human killer go free even though He promised the girl's father that would not happen.
I now know and appreciate what BDS is and have sadly become afflicted. How much more can we expect to be slapped by the fools we have put in power?

I don’t know what we can do. I have sent letter after letter
to the White House, the RNC. Its like they are on auto pilot and headed

How many of us have called their reps. over the immigration
bill? How many bricks were mailed to congress? How many letters? How often do
we now hang up on the RNC when they call for money? How does the RNC look at the lack of funds and think..(everything is ok??) How often did we tell them to cut back spending?
Cut the ear marks! Its like we are trying to out Democrat the Democrats! Spend,
Spend, Spend.
To back: the UN, and murders against Texas, the United
States, and the family of the dead girls?? What on earth are they thinking??
I look at the faces of these little girls and just boil.
I just don’t have the words to explain just how mad/ piss

After listening to Vincente Fox on various shows, throwing in the piece of shite that murdered those two girls and the WH going to the SC to fight for this creep, while we have border agents in jail for doing their jobs...blah blah blah...
I have stayed on the side-lines when it comes to the international highway ect....No More! I believe this is the plan and we have to really fight this too.
The President should of shut the borders completely after 9/11, nobody would of went against him, started from scratch, built our fence, got our system in our, as much as we could of, deported any illegals in jail that could be and anybody else that we caught or businesses did ect. just let in a certain number of people ect....until this was all done.
I am sick and tired of this all, the majority of people are mad and we had better have a real conservative that is running and means it about illegal immigration the border and the so called Super-Highway being stopped...

Video ABC News Was afraid to Air on Hannity and Colmes
October 11, 2007 - 12:51 ET by Henry GomezAs you may know, on Wednesday October 10th Hannity and Colmes aired a segment about the real Cuban healthcare system. In the segment they showed exclusive video taken inside Cuba's hospitals by dissident doctor Darsi Ferrer Ramirez.
Video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=25_RgM1jHeo&eurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Ebabalublog%2Ecom%2F
The video was originally intended to be aired on ABCs 20/20 and that program did air a short segment taking Michael Moore's movie "Sicko" to task for it's portrayal of Cuban healthcare (as a teaser for a one-hour special on American healthcare). But ABC folded under pressure from the Cuban government and according to John Stossel members of ABCs Havana bureau were called in by the Castro regime in answer for the coverage (NB covered this at the time) Which is what really makes this a journalism story.
Since the footage was obtained at great personal risk to Dr. Ferrer Ramirez who lives in Cuba, the person in America that coordinated its filming and shipping off the island shared a copy with Hannity and Colmes who did in fact air it. While they focused on the issue of socialized medicine, the real story in my opinion lies in the media's willingness to "play ball" with the Castro regime in a way it never would with our own government or other governments around the world.
For too long, too many media outlets have been taking the Castro regime's propaganda at face value. The problem is that many of the big news gathering organizations have Cuba bureaus which they are afraid to lose if they report too critically. Recently Stephen Gibbs of the BBC was expelled because his coverage was a little too realistic for the liking of the regime. But the event, which happened at the same time that the Chicago Tribune's reporter, Gary Marx, was also expelled, raised nary a blip on the media radar. And the reason the Tribune and BBC and ABC continue to put up with the censorship is that they want to have a Cuba bureau to report the "big story" of Castro's death. In the meantime they have made a Faustian bargain. One has to ask oneself what good is a Cuba bureau if you can't use it to report the news, the real news?
I would love to see NB discuss this great achievement by Hannity and Colmes of broadcasting to the American people something they rarely get to see, real life inside one of the world's few remaining communist countries and take ABC to task for caving in to the pressure of a totalitarian dictatorship.
What is the current status
October 11, 2007 - 12:58 ET by rimskyWhat is the current status of Dr. Ramirez? Great personal risk, indeed. God knows what's happened to him.

Your quiz, misterbill,
October 12, 2007 - 04:34 ET by JerYour quiz, misterbill, though well-crafted and entertaining, is plagued by that same "context thing" which has elicited howls of protest from the right in the recent Limbaugh and O'Reilly flaps.
[By the way, in case you missed my previously stated views on Hillary, I do not support her candidacy, and if she is the nominee, will probably not vote for her.]
So let's take a deeper look at the quiz:
1. Your link is incorrect
2. You omitted the key intervening clause "time to reject the idea of an 'on your own' society...." That is what she wants to replace--not the government, which you have implied. As such she advocates expanded pre-K and college access, and disincentives for corporate outsourcing of jobs overseas.
3.-5. These all arose from a discussion with the top three Democratic candidates on the role of faith and values in politics. Hillary was speaking about the need to find common ground in a number of traditionally contentious areas and the desirability of reaching out to the other side for solutions. She lamented the influence of the media culture and celebrity culture on the decisions made by young people, noting the failures of adults, the schools, the churches,. the government, the free market [my emphasis]...they "have all failed". She talks further about reaching a political consensus on health care, but it "requires people giving up a little bit of their own turf [my emphasis, your omission] to create the common ground." On these and other issues she reflects on the need to "chart a new course" rather than relying on "business as usual".
6. This concerns a specific reference to oil companies and the colossal profits they have amassed in the recent past which bears watching. This particular statement was no more radical, and probably less so than O'Reilly's have been on the subject. (Her tax proposal on excess oil profits is a different story.}
In conclusion, if you're attempting to prove a Hillary presidency would mean the second coming of Karl Marx on stilts, you need to revise the quiz. This one falls short.

I often wonder what the
October 11, 2007 - 21:19 ET by GregEI often wonder what the ratio of liberals would be in political office if the mainstream media was completely objective.
I think if this were the case and they didn't have the 365 day a year free advertising for them and against their foes, their chances of winning political office would only be decent in extremely liberal places, which wouldn't matter anyway.
Congress would be an 80-20 split Reps-Dems, at best. Republicans would nominate more conservative people instead of having to so often elect the ones who move to the center and compromise their principals. Libertarians would have a shot as well. Constitution party would have a shot too.
The media is a very powerful tool for the liberals, though none seem to understand that's the case. (or don't want to admit it since we call them on it)
