reverse racism

Enough with this reverse racism crap.If Donavan wants respect he should win some games

It's a good thing Rex

It's a good thing Rex Grossman is white, otherwise he might have to put up with some real nasty criticisms and incessant calls from the media and fans for his benching despite leading his team to the Super Bowl in his first full season. Yep, good thing, that.

While pushing a cart the man notices that one of the wheels is always making noise. The man, noticing that it was the weakest of all the wheels asked the wheel, "what gives you the right to take such a liberty?"

The wheel replied, "creaking has always been the privilege of the weak."

Amen Brother

When I first heard this BS yesterday it made me sick. I do not have a problem with any black QB. As a matter of fact I hope forgood things for David Garraud. I watched him play in college at ECU. There was also Jeff Blake from ECU but I never saw him play in college. I cheer for Anthony Wright (NYG). He is a graduate of West Craven High School in Vanceboro, NC which is right next door to my house.

McNabb needs to learns to play with the rest of the team around him. Does he not know that the fans in Atlanta don't like Harrington?

Blacks in the NFL

With the majority of NFL players being black, I don't think anyone looks at 'color' anymore when talking about players (excpet the super racists like Jesse and Al, and apparently Donovan). If you are a good player, the fans support you; if you are a bad player, they tear you down. Especially in Philly. Black or white - doesn't figure in at all.

Donovan is just trying to give himself an excuse for his poor performance so far this year so that when Andy Reid benches him he can cry 'rasism.'

No RINOs in '08

Who is his replacement

Who are you going to replace McNabb with? They let Garcia go. You know that Jesse and Al will make a big deal out of it. I caught just a bit of David Stein's show on Sporting News Radio this morning. From what I could tell he was taking McNabb's side.

Anthony Wright. Ugh.

Anthony Wright. Ugh. Steelers tried to make him "Kordell Jr" when they brought him into camp waaaay back in the late 90's. I am impressed he is still in the league.

Anthony Wright

I see his mom around town (Pop. 850) but haven't talked to her lately. I think he is running the scout team. Or he was 3rd behind what's his name-Jarred Lorenzen. I am surprised he is still around too.

He's made the rounds around the league. I think he stayed with the Ravens the longest. I really believe that he is as good as a washed up McNair.

Don't be hard on him. I told you I like your boy Willie because he is from around this area. I will always pull for the local boys.

QB's

There are a few that have come out of this state that were fairly good. Sonny Jerguson, Roman Gabriel. Others not so hall of fame material. Brad Johnson, Heath Shuler, Anthony Wright. I don't know what happened to Chris Leak.

Last night, while in the

Last night, while in the throngs of sneezing, sniffling, and coughing, I was looking for a movie to entertain me, and to fall off to sleep with.  HBO is playing, this month, PAN'S LABYRINTH.  So, I caught it on HBO's Video On Demand ...

WARNING: This movie IS NOT for children!

While I am obviously late on the uptake on this movie and its reviews, I went into it thinking it a "Little Princess ... Secret Garden ... Narnia" type storyline and setting. So I chose it out of the idea it wouldn't be too taxing for my mind that late at night ... and in wonder if my 7 yr. old daughter might find it to her liking if I chose it for her viewing later.

Quite the contrary.  The story takes place in 1944 post Spanish Fascist Revolution, within the timeline of our D-Day invasion.  The fascist captain is stationed at an old mill in the forest, warding off what I concluded were Communist Spanish rebels (who are depicted as the heroes and good guys ... go figure).  The film is a foreign production/cast ... and is in subtitles.

The story involves a young girl whose mother has remarried, the fascist captain, and is due to give birth to his first son.  He is a cold, heartless, brutal man which the movie depicts "quite colorfully" ... The girl becomes involved in a fantasy world within the forest inside a ancient stone labyrinth on the mill grounds apparently occupied by fairies and fauns, and other such creatures (some who seem as sinister and even blood thirsty as the girl's new stepfather).  Anyhow, the fantasy world the girl becomes involved in seems almost as dark and suspect as the real world she lives in.  I am not giving much away when I inform you the girl is murdered by her stepfather in the end ... not giving it away because the movie opens with her lying bloody and dying.

The extreme violence and politics in this movie are NOT for young children.

I am commenting on it because I was drawn in by the main character being a young girl and the fantasy world.  It's not that kind of movie, really.  So those with young kids and HBO be warned.

Thanks for the rant, but maybe this would've helped....

Rated R for graphic violence and some language.

Sorry -

I did neglect to mention that when the premovie la-di-da started rolling I was befuddled to see the [R], and couldn't figure how they would craft a story/movie clearly aimed at kids so that it would earn an [R] rating ... Guess I found out. Thanks for reminding me. I DID intend to include that in my post, but lost it along the way.

Well, at least Rocky Top and

Well, at least Rocky Top and Auburn lost to real teams.
I mean, Tenn lost to 2 ranked teams on the road, and Auburn lost to now-ranked South Florida (the Bulls are the sleeper team of the Big East) and an SEC rival, Miss. State.
At least Michigan has won a game (I would have them lurking right outside that bottom ten, though!)
Sure, all three teams suck this year, but I think they would beat up most all the bottom ten, wouldn't you think? I think Temple would be orgasmic to even score a touchdown against those 3 teams, haha.

This is supposed to be funny

I always thought that the bottom 10 was a parody. It was supposed to contain teams like Tenn, Auburn,  and Mich that were not playing up to their potential. Everybody knows that teams like Temple, Dook, FIU, and Rice don't really have any chance of playing in a BCS Bowl. It is those teams that are BCS teams that I want to make fun of. Granted my Tarheels right now would fall into the same category with DOOK in football. Just wait, my time is coming when the round ball hits the court.

I look for the Vols to lose to SC, GA, and KY. Goodbye Phil Fulmer.

AP implies Bush ignoring Kyoto treaty "obligations"

In a story on a push by UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon to get member countries to take action on global warming, AP writer Charles J. Hanley implies that the US is ignoring its "obligations" under the Kyoto protocol.  In the 4th paragraph, Hanley writes:

The U.S. administration rejects treaty obligations, such as the Kyoto Protocol, to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases blamed for global warming. Bush favors voluntary reductions instead.

The Senate voted the Kyoto treaty down by a lopsided margin when it was presented to them for ratification a few years ago.  As a result, we are not obligated to the Kyoto Protocol.

Later in the story, Bush gets the blame for rejecting Kyoto:

The Kyoto Protocol, a 1997 annex to a 1992 U.N. climate treaty, requires 35 industrialized nations to reduce greenhouse-gas emissions by, on average, 5 percent below 1990 levels by 2012. Talks at Bali are intended to launch negotiations on a similar regime of mandatory cutbacks for the post-2012 period.

Bush has rejected Kyoto and signals no new readiness to accept such mandates. He complains that the 1997 agreement, under which European and other nations are reducing power plant and industrial emissions, would damage the U.S. economy and should have been imposed on China and other poorer nations that are exempt.

The wording is ambiguous enough that a casual reader would think that we are reniging on a treaty we agreed to, and that Bush is the culprit.

When you put the clowns in charge, don't be surprised when a circus breaks out.

"...under which European

"...under which European and other nations are reducing power plant and industrial emmissions..."  That's strange.  The articles I've read recently state that the Europeans are not meeting their emissions goals and have, in fact, increased carbon output.  Anybody else remember those articles?

"A communist is someone who reads Marx.  An anti-communist is someone who understands Marx."  Ronald Reagan

That's some seriously flawed 'reporting'

Not a single item is presented in an accurate context.

1. The Senate rejected even opening this particular piece of... ahem... legislation to debate on a vote of 98-0.

2. This was not a rejection by an American administration but one of an American legislature.

3. Since the US is not a signator of the treaty, we have no obligations under that treaty to reject.

4. Last I heard, the major European signators have not reduced  output but have experienced increases in CO2 output.

So, basically, we have a lazy, agenda-driven 'reporter' (and I use the term loosely) noting a failure of the POTUS to abide by a treaty that our nation did not agree to, while ignoring the fact that European nations who did sign the worthless piece of parchment are breaking the treaty outright.

Funny stuff...

I live in the 'burbs of Memphis, TN.  Recently, the local Air America 'affiliate' (if the lefty's 24-hour, pay-as-you-go infomercial can be called that) was replaced on the dial by  sports talk. Irony of ironies, it was replaced by FOX Sports Radio.

So, lefty Air America couldn't stay afloat in the only true blue area of Tennessee...and it's replaced by the 'evil empire' FOX.

Tell me God doesn't have a sense of humor...and this time, I'm not talking about the platypus.

Why is it that lefties believe that 'the people' noted in the 2nd are different than the 'the people' mentioned elsewhere in the Bill of Rights?

The Left

If you really miss Air America buy you a Sirius Radio so you can listen to the The Left. It is worse that AA. HA HA

Sirius carries Fox Talk (O'Reilly, John Gibson)  Fox News, ABC talk (Sean, Larry Elder, Mark Levin) The Patriot (Mike Reagan, Andrew Wilkow, Mike Church, Cam and Company.) It is well the worth cost.

A bonafided and certified member of the beer guzzling, NASCAR watching middle class.

Miss 'em? Good Lord,

Miss 'em? Good Lord, no. But, I have to admit, upon finding out that they'd been bumped by the free market, the little bumper spots they used to run proclaiming AA as the 'fastest growing radio network in the country' are even funnier in retrospect.

Of course, if Randy Rhodes mom decided to listen in one week, AA could have accurately reported a double-digit growth rate for the period.

Why is it that lefties believe that 'the people' noted in the 2nd are different than the 'the people' mentioned elsewhere in the Bill of Rights?

Congress Approval Down to 11%

New story out that Congress approval rating down to 11%. Will we hear this on the evening news???

Nazis in your neighborhood

Three stories have made headlines this week that clearly indicate that Nazism is alive and well in local government. The local police have all too often become the problem where there wasn't a problem. The three stories are the unnecessary police tasering of a student asking a question of John Kerry; the death of a wheel chair bound woman as result of 10 taserings by local police; and the brutal and bloody arrest of a 70 year old woman charged having too much brown grass in her yard.

The problem as I see it is that Local officials either don't understand, or don't want to understand the difference between a Civil matter, and a Criminal matter. In criminal cases, the accused is arrested and taken to jail to await trial. In a civil matter there is never an arrest, only a summons, and if found liable the respondent is fined, never sent to jail. Civil cases are exclusively about money, not jail.

Asking a question in a public forum, or stating an opinion is NOT a crime, it is a freedom that is protected by the highest law of the land. Who doesn't get this? If a person becomes disruptive, he can be ejected, not arrested, not gagged, not beaten, not electrocuted, not humiliated, not intimidated, not shot, not stabbed, not tortured, and not killed. But this is exactly what IS happening.

The brown grass story is also disturbing because it shows that local government is out of control. If I own a house and the land it sits on, I OWN the land, I decide what it looks like, if I want brown, green, yellow, or pink grass, that is nobody's business but my own. The neighbors don't own any part of my land and neither does the town. They can't come and arrest me for having brown grass, they can tax me, but they can't arrest me. But now they are arresting people with no right to do so. That is Nazism and this is the USA. We don't tolerate Nazis here. The sh!t needs to stop and it needs to stop yesterday.

Here's what needs to be done first. We need to pass a federal law mandating that Tasers are never to be used against individuals that pose no threat to others or themselves, and even then they are not to be used unless the subject is armed with a knife, club, or firearm. Unarmed small children, wheelchair people, or the aged are never to be tased, all others may only be tased while they present a deadly threat. Subdued, handcuffed, or people on the ground may not be tased. In fact the only time a taser should ever be used is to subdue person who is being arrested for a violent felony when such person is attempting to injure someone, or has a deadly weapon.

Second all local police must be deputized and trained by the Sheriff of the county they work in. The Sheriff is accountable to the people because he is elected and the Sheriff is the highest law enforcement officer in the state, that's right, go look it up.

Third all local ordinances must be vetted by the state for compliance with state and federal law before coming into effect, and any ordinance that attempts to enjoin private property must be approved by the state legislature and signed by the governor.

If we do that, we would be more than half way to restoring justice and freedom to people who live under the boot of unrestricted local authority.

But

wasn't that student preventing [for some rather long period of time] OTHER people from exercising their right of free speech, by refusing to give up the microphone? I believe using the taser was out of line, but he certainly should have been removed. Law enforcement's use of force is not always wrong, in fact, it's more often right. They are there to protect everybody's rights, not only those of the guy who wanted to give a rambling speech and get his 15 minutes of fame in place of the person who was engaged to give a speech and answer questions from the whole audience [John Kerry].

"Our people have shed more blood for the liberty and freedom of other peoples...than all the other countries put together. And I don't feel any need to apologize for the United States of America" - Fred Thompson

My understanding was that

My understanding was that the time for questions had been cut off and this student was upset because he had waited over two hours and the other students were in the process of sitting down when this student spoke up. Kerry was listening to the student when the campus police moved in and Kerry told them that he would answer the students question, the police ignored Kerry, shut off the microphone causing the student to have to shout his question and then they dragged him away from the microphone. Then AFTER they had him on the floor of auditorium, they tasered him. He was unarmed, and did not attempt to injure any one.

Oh, fer Pete's sake, Britcom

Way to take isolated incidents and blow them up into a picture of an ugly country with a Nazi mentality.  "Under the boot of unrestricted local authority?"  eek!  Better change your name from Britcom to Chicken Little.

With the wall-to-wall tabloid "news" coverage we have today, it's impressive that there's so few of these incidents out of the millions of daily contacts police have with the public.   Every local newspaper reporter, columnist, and TV news reader is constantly searching for exactly this kind of story.   Every miscreant (and good people, too) is looking for ways to claim "police brutality" to help their case and/or get a big payday with a lawsuit.

You think much in the way of true "excess force" (and I'm not so sure the Florida cops used it) escapes?

Get a grip.

Mmhmm, Mmhmm...

I can tell you have never lived in a borough in New Jersey or a parish in Louisiana, or any of the other localities that I could name that are run like banana republics. I wouldn't bring it up if I weren't able to document many more cases than you could shake a stick at. Some of them I personally witnessed and even photographed. You see it's continued ignorance and apathy that allows these little thiefdoms to exist unchecked.

Its real easy to accuse someone of exaggeration when you don't know anything about them. I have been studying this for several years, and I have come to the conclusion that this sort of thing is more the rule than the exception in small towns. In fact I'll bet you I can find an ordinance that violates the Bill of Rights in any small town that you care to mention. And I'll even bet that I can find one that has been on the books for more than 10 years.

Have you ever read your local code of ordinances? I have.

Britcom....

Um, help me out here, Britcom.  What does saying you exaggerated have to do with knowing anything about you?

However...."Nazism is alive and well in local government"...."under the boot"...."Nazis in your neighborhood"...."not shot, not stabbed, not tortured, and not killed. But this is exactly what IS happening"...sure thing, Britcom, no exaggeration there.

On to your escalation to "thiefdoms" and "banana republics."  Which of the three original examples you used for your little rant fit those descriptions?  None?  Hmmm.

In any event, if you're a witness, if you're able to document, and if you have "proof" of malfeasance....other than whining about our nationwide problem of Nazi-ism (do you leftists ever get tired of running down the US?), what are you doing about it?  Isn't it "apathetic" to have done nothing?

Sure, there are places where "authority" takes advantage.   Happens all over the world.  But, again, with the millions of police/civilian contacts daily, and considering the 24-hour news business, the percentage in the U.S. is amazingly low.  I'll happily compare our overall policing record to most places on the globe.

.

Brticom just got owned. But to be fair I did "FEEL" for Britcom if that helps.

  I exaggerate not, and

I exaggerate not, and I seriously doubt that I can be considered even a moderate, much less a liberal. Most of those Nazi localities are run by Democrats. That is part the problem. They seriously lack moral fiber and make corruption a career opportunity. They treat their citizens like sheep to be shorn of their tax and ticket dollars and bring them up on petty charges if they step out of line or voice opposition to local authority. The lucky ones are able move out.

So, what makes you think I haven't done anything about it. My job is to expose the guilty, and the corrupt, and I have done that for many years. You might even know my name if I cared to reveal it. In the past I have been called a "Spin Doctor", but these days I prefer to think of myself as a "Public Relations" consultant. Just about everything I do is geared towards defeating that kind of systemic corruption.

So, I have come to the conclusion that legislation is needed in order to close the loopholes of those who are gaming what system exists to prosecute them for their corruption and Nazi intimidation tactics.

If I were to guess, I would say you might even be a cop in a town where they use those Tasers, for "thee dost protest too much" about my post.

Public opinion is very slow to change, but you can make it turn fairly quickly... if you know e..x..a..c..t..l..y where to put the pressure. And this taser story just happens to be one of those little pressure points. Just watch... you'll see. ; )

Not exaggeration? Ha. Britcom, you're funny.

Where to start?   No point in repeating your numerous exaggerations.  You clearly have a blind spot for them.  Lets just say that your repeated usage of the Nazi label is much more likely to come from someone on the left than the right....so you self identify there, bucko.   Add to that your knee-jerk desire to "fix" perceived problems with Federal control, and there you have it....pure leftist.

Have you "done anything?"  I doubt it.  You're just some guy on the internet, complaining about the U.S. and claiming to be "a force for good."  And I might even know your name.  lol!

So this story is going to turn public opinion against tazers?  ha!  The guy wasn't just some shmoe trying to ask a question.  He was a self-aggrandizing clown with an agenda to get noticed, and he probably set the cops up.  He even asked a companion to tape the incident before he started.  Some "hero" you picked to use as an example.

So because I didn't walk away from your ridiculous exaggerations and your painting the U.S. with your Nazi brush, it means I protest too much?  AND I might be a Tazer wielding cop?  ha. You're amusing Britcom, but that's another leftist move......like when Hillary and MoveOn tried to rewrite the character of General Petraeus.

I don't know RJ, britcon

I don't know RJ, britcon may well be telling the truth. I know of a small town police force in Oklahoma where:

One officer will tailgate a car at night. When the car speeds up to get a decent distance between the two, the cop will then turn on his overheads and issue a speeding ticket.

A house in the town was burgled several times. After the last burglary, the homeowners found a diary one of the kids (a 15 -year-old female) left behind. They turned it over to the cops, who managed to "lose" it. It turns out one of the cops on the force was in a sexual relationship with the girl.

The cops in that town evidently thought they were above the law, as they habitually sped, neglected to use turn signals, and often did not fasten their seatbelts. Yet they enforced the h*** out of those laws on the citizens of the town.

They would enforce drunk driving laws on everyone but themselves. One of the cops had at least one DUI conviction in a neighboring town, yet was not suspended, and was allowed to drive a patrol car. Anyone else in this town, and their driver's license was suspended for 6 months on the first offense.

This was a town in which I lived, so I know whereof I speak. And, there are many other such incidents of which I could tell.

"A communist is someone who reads Marx. An anti-communist is someone who understands Marx." Ronald Reagan

The point MikeB, is not whether their are rogue cops

and police departments.  We all know there are.

But Britcom began with a rant about how the entire US is "under the boot" of the police and that we, essentially, live in a Nazi state.

His "solution" is to go Federal with laws controlling local police departments and individual police.

Get the idea of where he's coming from?

How About Those Boston Red Sox?

Can you say "1978"? Double-digit lead in the AL East over the Yankees in August, but two blown saves in the last 5 games and the lead is now 2 in the lost column, with just 10 games left.

Anybody know where I can get a Terry Franconia dart board?

It must be Autumn. The leaves and the Red Sox are falling.

Their fall can be traced back to that stupid trade when they picked up Gagne.   He (and Francona for using him) are the number one reason for the slide.  Before he was injured, he blew several games.  While he was out, the Sox did ok.   Now that he's back, he's screwing the Sox again....but Francona stubbornly says Gagne is still his guy.

I think it is more than

I think it is more than Gagne. They lost too many of those players off that special team that got them the World Series and the replacements (i.e. that cereal guy in centerfield) is never going to be a Johnny Damon.

Also they placed too much on Dice K who never pitched this many games in Japan and tired out. So much for scouting.

Then you have the Yankees - what more needs to be said!

Coco is better than Damon

I liked Damon, and he played all out for Boston, but both offensively and defensively Crisp is better.  His speed gets him to fly balls that Damon could only wave his glove at; he steals bases that Damon can only dream of; and his average is 270, while Damon's is 260.   Overall, Crisp is clearly the better player.

I didn't say it's all Gagne, just that he's the number one problem.   He was brought in to save games, and the saves he's blown would have the Sox still at 7-8 ahead of the yankees.

The current Red Sox team is just as good, maybe better than the one from a couple of years ago, but a BIG current problem is Manny has been out for several weeks, including both Sox/Yankee series.   He bats cleanup after Ortiz (meaning pitchers have to pitch to Ortiz, not around him) and run production has dropped dramatically while he's been out.   Where would you guys be if A-Rod was out for the same period?

One thing the Yankees

One thing the Yankees learned after their string of championships - players don't win championships - teams do.

The Yankees also replaced older players with players who were better on paper but they never were a team that pulled for each other. The same thing happened to the Mets after the '86 team - they immediately replaced the hero of that series Ray Knight and it started their downhill slide.

Boston made a mistake not trying to hold onto their keys players from that championship year and intead looking to improve by the numbers.

Nonsense, GAT

Nice duck on the Crisp/Damon comparison that YOU began.   Kinda blew you out of the water on that one, didn't I?   ;^>

The Red Sox are as good as a team this year as they were then.   And, pitching and defense are actually better.    With the level of today's competition, it doesn't take much to derail a good team....as you found out early in the year.

Seriously, where would you be without A-Rod for the same period Manny has been out?

Yankee / Red Sox

Yankee / Red Sox discussion...I can't resist! RJ, IMO they should have resigned Damon. What they ultimately replaced him with (contract wise) was J.D.Drew (15 mil straight up), who does not play more than 120 games a year. Manny is not as protected by Ortiz as he has been in the past, plus now he just wants out. BYW remember Kerry's "Manny Ortez" line? LMAO.

As for A-Rod, no doubt losing him would hurt. Still the BoSox have to be disappointed with the overall results of their pitching; and bringing on Gagne was a waste-You already had Papelbon.

In the end, it always comes down to this...The best rivalry in professional sports is on yet again coming down to the wire. I'm a pinstripes guy, but I never take the Sox for granted.

So here's to the last two weeks of AL East baseball. Cheers!

Pinstripes in Mass?

Must be a lonely life.

I see people on the subway

I see people on the subway and buses in Boston with Yankees hats sometimes, I kind of admire their guts, more than anything.

"Sometimes?"

Definitely guts, but it doesn't make me think it's any less lonesome, Jason.  Have you ever paid attention to the reaction of those around the Yankee hats?    ;^>

Yeah....us Bostonians

Yeah....us Bostonians aren't known for subtlety around those guys.

the Pats are missing Seymour

the Pats are missing Seymour (all-pro) and Rodney; you don't hear them whining

Jason, I hope you guys are

Jason, I hope you guys are not as stupidly fanatic as some of the Sooner fans here in OK. There was a newspaper article a few days ago telling of a Sooner fan who got in a fight with a guy who was wearing a Texas Longhorns shirt in a bar/grill in OKC. There are a couple of stories of how the fight started, but they all agree on how it ended. The Sooner fan is facing charges for grievous bodily harm because he grabbed the Texas guy's crotch and tore his scrotum. From the sound of it, he d*** near tore the guy's testicles off.

Whoa, I've never seen it

Whoa, I've never seen it get like that, but I'm sure there have been fistfights over the relative merits of Sox vs. Yankees. I'm about as casual a Sox fan as you can find in Boston, I've always admitted that Yanks fans tend to be much more dignified. Plus they don't have that horrible "pahk the cah" accent that makes me want to tear my own ears off.

Dice K

Dice K has been a disappointment, but to be fair to the guy he also hasn't been getting any run support.

The Sox have also been missing Manny.

As for Coco, he's much improved over last season, and has several absolutely spectacular catches.

BoSox complaining about

BoSox complaining about Manny being injured as an excuse for their reduced lead down to 2 (maybe 1 after tonight) is ridiculous. The Yankees lived with one legit starting pitcher for the entire first half of the season because of constant injuries. They finally had to bring along their younger pitchers from the minors who have been darn good.

Sorry, Noel

Sorry, but that has no validity, Noel.  The Sox are "living" with the loss of Manny, and their record reflects it, just as the Yankees "lived" with their pitching problems and their record reflected it.

As I explained before, Manny bats cleanup after Ortiz.   With him in the lineup, pitchers are forced to pitch to Ortiz, without Manny, they can pitch around Ortiz, lowering his ability to produce, too.  Since Manny has been out, overall run production has been down.   He's not the only reason, but with him in the lineup the lead is unlikely to be where it is now.

It's just facts.  Why is that ridiculous or an excuse?

Having said that, a second major reason for the drop is Gagne.  He was brought in as a closer, but has blown numerous games.  Given half of those blown games back, the Sox would now be up by something like 4, 5, or 6.

BTW,are you saying that if A-Rod was out for several weeks, the Yankees would have had the same great run they've had?  He's been phenominal.

"He's been phenominal."  .

"He's been phenominal."  . . . . and then some.

. . . .  and then there was only one. I'm just wondering whose collape is worse: Red Sox or Mets?

It's Autumn

The time of year when leaves and Red Sox are falling.....

Gagne = Last Night's Goat

Gagne blew last night's save. As I recall he walked in the tying or go-ahead run, and then it was all downhill from there.

Ouch del that hurts

Names you should avoid using around Fenway Park:

Babe Ruth

Bucky Dent

Bill Buckner

John MacNamara (Gave the Mets the 86 series)

Grady Little (left Pedro in one hitter too long)

Years that cause hypersensitive reactions; 1946, 1967,1978, 1986.

In my younger wise a$$ years, these things caused several unidentified flying objects to come my way.

PS: never be seen leaving your parked car wearing your Yankee Gear...tires do not hold air well after that for some reason.

You left out Calvin

You left out Calvin Schiraldi and Bob Stanley in '86.

Cal & the Stanley "Steamer"

How could I forget the two pitchers who tossed battling practice beachballs to the opposition the last half of 86...

Here is the difference

Here is the difference between Mayor Bloomberg and Mayor Giuliani regarding radical Islamic facists.

“In a move that has stunned New York, the Bloomberg administration is in discussions to escort the Iranian president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, to ground zero during his visit to New York next week, Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said today”

It was nearly 12 years ago when Mayor Giuliani made sure another Arab terrorist, Yasar Arafat, was booted out of a Lincoln Center concert.
