September 13, 2007 - 11:46 ET by mattm220 years ago two great men and the two future presidents already briefed the American Congress on this issue ...(LINK)
"In 1786, Jefferson, then the American ambassador to France, and Adams, then the American ambassador to Britain, met in London with Sidi Haji Abdul Rahman Adja, the "Dey of Algiers" ambassador to Britain.
The Americans wanted to negotiate a peace treaty based on Congress' vote to appease.
During the meeting Jefferson and Adams asked the Dey's ambassador why Muslims held so much hostility towards America, a nation with which they had no previous contacts.
In a later meeting with the American Congress, the two future presidents reported that Ambassador Sidi Haji Abdul Rahman Adja had answered that Islam "was founded on the Laws of their Prophet, that it was written in their Quran, that all nations who should not have acknowledged their authority were sinners, that it was their right and duty to make war upon them wherever they could be found, and to make slaves of all they could take as Prisoners, and that every Musselman (Muslim) who should be slain in Battle was sure to go to Paradise.""

Harry's Response ? ?
September 13, 2007 - 10:50 ET by JayTeeCan someone on MSM interview Harry Reid and ask him to explain himself ?
I read Harry’s Democratic Response, and it really didn’t make much sense. I was at a loss to understand just where he was headed with his lack of logic. As Ann Coulter said Today, if the Dems are not Traitors, then that just leaves “Stupid” and I think harry and company have arrived at “Stupid”.
Maybe his constituents in Las Vegas can explain Harry Reid, they elected him, although I just think the Dice were rolled on the Nevada Election and came up “Crazy Eights”…but now Reid seems to have dwindled down to just 2 Crazy Eights willing to stand behind him while he talks in a confusing and dazed manner about “Nothing has changed in Iraq”.
I give it another month, and Harry Reid will be standing on the Podium by himself, even the most Liberal Congressman will stop standing behind him, or be willing to follow one of Harry’s dissertations.
This congress needs some turnover, and I think Harry is at the head of the Class.

September 13, 2007 - 12:39 ET by RackieSeveral nutters from Code Pink, sans pink, interrupted a Heritage Foundation presentation a few minutes ago. Reading from prepared BS they blabbed on uninterrupted. The most frustrating thing for me was that there was no reaction from the audience and little from the dias or the hosts. Eventually 3 people were summoned to escort the protesters off the stage and out of the room with a lot of coddling.
Sure, beating them with sticks would not have been appropriate(TV cameras) but surely the passive reaction from the audience and particpants was sickening. The folks on the dias would not even look at the invaders. They were a couple of old broads for Christ's sake. What were they waiting for? What would those PhD wussies do if they where taken over by raging men in their 20's? Curl up under the table?
Imagine a different scenareo where the invaders were hostile and intent on doing harm. Be it in a classroom, on a bus or elsewhere, when something out of the ordinary developes, action is called for, not PC passivity. This is a way different world now post 9/11 and if you don't take action you might not live to regret it.
