Karl Rove

John Gibson Suggests that Jason Leopold was Source for David Shuster's MSNBC Report of Karl Rove 'Indictment'

Dispatch from the Briar Patch: NY Times Demands Dems Investigate Rove”

ABC Blames Karl Rove for Swift Boat Ads, All Nets Scold Him for Plame Leak”

“Chris Matthews Denounces 'Bum' Karl Rove”

Judging by the headlines, the MSM, not being able to touch Rove for six years, are having an epileptic seizure as their headlines scream of their frustration because Rove ‘snookered’ them at their own game - and they don’t like it.

The ferocity of personal attacks on him is directly proportional to their frustration which will only gain in intensity when he leaves the administration and they ‘demand’ that the Democrats take him to the woodshed.

They have yet come to the realization that Rove is ‘untouchable’. He’s been interviewed by multiple Grand Juries in the Plame debacle and he’s come out smelling like a rose. And even though he will no longer be in the administration he will still be under the protection of the President as a former advisor.

I, for one, would like to see him come before a congressional committee and watch Schumer, Leahy, et. al. go into orbit as he quietly takes ‘them’ to the woodshed.

Question?

Since it appears that Rudy and Fred are the front runners, has anyone come across either of their sentiments as to one becoming the others running mate?

"Dear Libs: Please remember that conservatives have guns, they are watching you, and know how to aim. Sincerely - rob6677"

I don't see that happening.

I don't see that happening. Rudi doesn't strike me as a second-in-command kind of guy.  He wants to be top dog.  The main reason Fred is running is because he sees that most Conservatives don't want to vote for a RINO, so I can't see him being very interested in being the number 2 guy behind a RINO like Rudi. In either case, having either of these Type-A personalities as VP is going to cause issues for whoever is President, and I'm sure both guys want to avoid those ego issues.

I think that once Fred gets into this for real, Rudi's numbers are going to fall to the point where he's envious of McCain.  And when Fred wins the nomination I can see him picking a running mate from the second-tier folks.

Ron Paul may be an

Ron Paul may be an interesting canditate. I see it as a seasoning for his unrealistic foriegn policies.  As VP he cant do too much harm and he does have some good ideas on government.

Nuke em til they glow then shoot em in the dark.

Such Sentiments Are Dangerous Now

Picking a Veep mate or even hinting at one right now is a dangerous political game.

1) You don't know if the suggested/hinted at running mate might have a blow up somewhere down the line

2) The target running mate has an incentive to deny any such rumor since it would suggest that he is thinking that he doesn't have a chance at winning.  Thus, if Rudy suggested Fred, Fred would have an incentive to attack back and claim it was the other way around.

3) There is still a large pool of possible running mates that are not in the presidential race and one would not like to send signals early that those people haven't been considered.  By picking a Veep early, you might lose the endorsement of these folks.

I'm also annoyed by the way that Fred is just toying with the race and not officially entering.  This makes me believe that he is indecisive and/or manipulative.  I would like a candidate that stands on principle and can make tough decisions without regrets.

<insert witty signature here>

There's a lot of griping in

There's a lot of griping in the media about Fred taking so long to announce.  I don't know if this is the wrong thing to do, or the right thing to do, but I do know that Fred is no idiot.  What he is doing he is doing for a good reason.  This whole race got jumpstarted too early because Hillary freaked when Obama started soaking up all the press attention, and that was the starting gun for all the other sheep to start chasing off after them like lemmings.  I find it odd that many of the media talking heads will frequently comment that "the presidential race started too early..." and "Fred's waiting too long to enter the race..." during the same show.

In Fred's judgement the best thing to do is wait, and I trust that judgement more than I trust the judgement of media geeks who have never done anything of note but who whine about how Americans will be turned off by the delay.  These are the same folks who in 2003 were sure Howard Dean would be President right now, so how much faith do you really want to put in their judgement.  Besides, what looks more presidential?  Standing on stage with a bunch of wannabes so you can give a rushed 60-second quip about major policy initiatives, or wait till the wannabes go broke and drop out, and spend your time talking to the voters in more serious forums?

I agree with you and

I agree with you and sometimes find it quite hypocritical that I am talking about this stuff so early on, but if the GOP doesn't at least get something moving (including Fred) they will miss out on the moron voters that will already think Hillary is president and that she just needs a vote to feel their pain! I would however, like to see Thompson/Rice as LionKing always states. I am assuming that it is Condi LK is referring to (I know of no other).

"Dear Libs: Please remember that conservatives have guns, they are watching you, and know how to aim. Sincerely - rob6677"

This election is not going

This election is not going to be won based on anything that happens this summer.  Between now and January you can expect to see people changing their minds a dozen times as the process plays out.  The primaries will be decided based on what happens in November/December/January of this year, and the general (if 2004 is a good precedent) won't be decided until voters go in to vote.

All the pundit hysteria is about Fred not being able to raise enough cash, which I think is a blindspot they all share.  If you're on-message, and saying and meaning the things that voters want to hear, you don't need $50 million bucks worth of TV time.  The right message sells itself, and if Fred has the right message (and I think he will have it) then people aren't going to buy a RINO no matter how good or frequent their commercials are.

"This election is not going

"This election is not going to be won based on anything that happens this summer."

I know this at heart, but some reasonable and ethical methods need to be in place to counter all the illegal immigrants, dead people and pets, and dead pets that will be voting dem come Nov 08.

I know the message gets out when a candidate is making sense to the average person, but thats not what we are up against with these loons. They resort to any and all means to make the outcome in their favor, and just knowing the playing field isn't level means you don't pretend it is either!

"Dear Libs: Please remember that conservatives have guns, they are watching you, and know how to aim. Sincerely - rob6677"

Both you and bruzilla make

Both you and bruzilla make perfect sense, but my concern is if indeed the speek of something like Hillary/Obama comes true, I feel the GOP should at least get together with top tier candidates and come up with a plan.

I know that there are plenty of VP candidates that aren't mentioned this early, but that's just it, they aren't mentioned. Hillary/Obama would be trying to target a wide range of voters for obvious reasons, but the simple fact that both names are being endlessly plastered in the media will go a long way should they pair up.

I don't want to see the GOP disregard what little coverage they get by not acknowledging some simple yet effective tactics.

I need a nap, so I hope I'm getting the point across. LOL

"Dear Libs: Please remember that conservatives have guns, they are watching you, and know how to aim. Sincerely - rob6677"

How often do we hear the

How often do we hear the montra "learn from your mistakes"?  I keep looking at the 2004 election, when all the talk was that Howard Dean was going to win.  Right up until the Iowa caucus, all the talk was that Dean was a shoe-in.  But then the rank&file Dems, the ones who spend more time voting than responding to polls, went in to vote and decided that Dean's views were a bit much for them, and they picked someone they thought could win: Kerry.  It's easy to say that NH voters just followed the crowd from Iowa, but NH voters have a solid record of picking their own favorite, and the results were the same: Kerry.

So what can we learn?  First, we know that poll numbers can be skewed based on the questions asked.  Second, we know that the biggest block of voters are the middle-aged and seniors, not the idealistic younger crowd who are easier to hype up with propoganda and say they are going to vote, but then have something more important to do on election day.  This is why I'm not the least bit bothered to hear the same folks who called Dean in 2004 talking about Clinton or Obama walking away with the nod in 2008.

I think Fred deserves a lot of credit.  He's telling the media pundits to go stick it rather than surrender to their demands.  If we say "how can Democrats stand up to terrorists if they can't stand up to FNC", then must we also say "How can Fred stand up to terrorists if he can't stand up to Mort Kondracke and DICK Morris?"

I think Fred's decision is best validated by Eddie Murphy's line in Trading Places, when the Duke brothers are all ranting "sell!, sell!" and Murphy says "They're panicking out there, I can feel it.  I'd wait till you get to 71 then buy. You'll have cleared out all the suckers by then."  Just replace "71 then buy" with "September then run" and you've got Fred's policy.

Point Taken I suppose I

Point Taken

I suppose I started to fall into the liberal trap of trying to outdo the other guy by playing the same game and forgetting that that's not the best way to promote any cause or election or whatever.

I feel something a little more should be done on our side of this election, everyone knew in 2004 Hillary would not run for two reasons: one, she didn't want to go against a standing president and two, after eight years with a republican in office the odds of a dem winning are better than normal. These are of course obvious tactics.

But here we are approaching 2008 and I would like to see that Fred and the GOP don't leave anything to chance. You may be right on the money, and it makes perfect sense to let the others run ragged and then you only need to walk past them.

P.S. Trading Places is my second all time favorite movie, the first will always be The Blues Brothers.

"Dear Libs: Please remember that conservatives have guns, they are watching you, and know how to aim. Sincerely - rob6677"

I find Fred's approach the

I find Fred's approach the most sensible. He avoids wasting time on what are basically ineffective debates. By not officially declaring, he becomes the 800 lb. gorilla in the room. The other candidates can't really talk about him as if he's in the race, or else they're admitting that he's a threat before he's even in the running.

Also, this helps define his character as a thoughtful leader who does what he thinks is right rather than what seems to be the popular thing to do, and sticks to his guns.

Plus, if he's successful and wins the nomination/presidency, hopefully it'll serve as a template that will slow down the process so we don't have unnecessary two-year long presidential campaigns in '12 and beyond.

I'm on board.

Who does Hillary think she is?

Hillary's records as first lady (that was tough to type) will be kept secret until after the 2008 election. Who does she think she is, Valerie Plame? What is she afraid of being outed?

[Interestingly, she is claiming protection under the Presidential Records Act. This act is intended for use by the POTUS and the VPOTUS, not the first lady. Sounds like abuse of power again bythe Clintonistas.]

More Obama Foreign Policy

Here's another little gem that B. Hussein Obama let slip from his mouth while he was apparently trying to shove another foot in there.  This time on Iraq:

Answering a question on how he would refocus U.S. troops out of Iraq to better fight terrorism, he said, "We've to get the job done there and that requires us to have enough troops so that we're not just air-raiding villages and killing civilians, which is causing enormous pressure over there."

Can anyone tell me what this "air-raiding villages" is all about?  Anyone?

Lion

That's just the cap on a very ugly day.

The Kurds represent the very best thing we're doing in Iraq.  That these filthy terrorists would do this is devastating.  My heart goes out to these people.

Sorry, bad day, on my way home I passed the funeral of a sheriff's deputy who'd been gunned down (second one in a week). That made me cry, too.

That there is evil in this world, I have no doubt.  But I'm heartened by those who would keep all of us free, our brave military members, and the law enforcement community.....who put their very lives on the line every day for each and every one of us.

As my friend Timothy H. would say...."sometimes it's not worth chewing through the restraints".

Blonde...

It is hard for me to swallow sometimes...I cannot imagine how our military cope. With all of the negativism from the MSM and libs, sometimes they must really ask WTF are we doing.

As you said, so many put their lives in harms way and get very little respect. I have to deal with my kids all of the time regarding the police. There are so many negative influences and constantly degrading our law enforcement...it is a wonder why they do it...but again, where would we be without them.

Thank God and may He bless them...all who risk their lives for our country, domestically and abroad. Thank you.

If conservatives are RIGHT, then liberals must be WRONG.
Thompson/Rice

Lion,

I know....it just kind of hit me at a vulnerable time.

But I try to think of all of those who are out there risking their lives for our safety and happiness every day. And be thankful that we have such wonderful fellow citizens who would willingly commit their lives to such a path.

And when we lose one, (or one of our allies, like those brave Kurds who are just trying to live their lives)...it strengthens my resolve.  To oppose everything the left would do to accomodate the terrorists, and to oppose the liberal idiots who would appease them rather than dealing with the issues.

You mean to tell me that

You mean to tell me that Al-Qaeda, a group that has such a miniscule and almost negligible presence in Iraq (according to Hater, er, Leon) was behind this? It cannot be! Hater can't be wrong. He just can't be...
