CNN's John King on Latinos: 'Their Priest Tells Them Every Sunday Homosexuality Isn't Just Wrong, It's Evil'
President Barack Obama has apparently completed his evolution on gay marriage. On CNN Newsroom's 3:00 pm segment today, anchor Brooke Baldwin spoke with chief national correspondent John King on the subject and he began by noting "we should say up front it's a bold, personal choice for the president to decide to do this publicly." His analysis included what he perceives as possible risks:
Critically to me, Brooke, in this calculation, African-Americans and Latinos. Many Latinos who are Catholics. They go to Catholic Church, where their priest tells them every Sunday homosexuality isn't just wrong, it's evil. That's what their priest tells them. It's evil.
A lot of African-American preachers in the Southern Baptist -- Southern churches across this country, but particularly in Virginia, North Carolina, states the president carried last time, say the same thing.
King should, if he can, document his sweeping assertion on what priests say "every Sunday." Having attended more than a thousand Catholic Masses in my lifetime, I don't recall homosexuality being mentioned very often. I'm pretty certain that if it were regularly condemned I'd recollect that.
The Catechism of the Catholic Church says in part: "tradition has always declared that 'homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered.' They are contrary to the natural law." It further states:
The number of men and women who have deep-seated homosexual tendencies is not negligible. This inclination, which is objectively disordered, constitutes for most of them a trial. They must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity.
King should apologize for his gross exaggeration of what takes place on Sundays in Catholic Churches, but perhaps he was just caught up in the moment. He's clearly dazzled by Obama's "bold, personal choice:"
KING: And this is a -- this is a big risk by this president. And give me him credit for taking the risk. Many politicians duck from risks. . .
But not Barack the Bold, right, John?

Yeah until their boneheaded VPs screw everything up for them, haha. It was real bold of him to clean up Biden and Carney's mess when he absolutely had no other choice.
I'm not convinced

that was a screw up. I think it was a deliberate plan by the White House to facilitate Obama's coming out. On gay marriage that is.
Which proves my theory ---

Which proves my theory --- the media doesn't understand religion.
Neither does it

I go to Mass and our church's men's group every week.

I never hear our priests talking like that, and I've been a Catholic all of my life. Where in the hell is that fool getting his information?
Catholicism teaches that you love the sinner but hate the sin. It also teaches that Christ's redemption is available to all who ask, and to those who repent of their sins no matter what type they are.
This is nothing more than a liberal smokescreen to make it look like those evil Christian social conservatives (many of whom are Black, Latino and Asian) somehow need to be "evolved" by the Democrats. That is not only deeply insulting, but denigrates the values that Latinos, Blacks and Asians have towards the strength of the traditional family unit. It's also designed to give cover to them when they lose the gay marriage vote by making it sound like only those evil Republicans and conservatives voted against gay marriage, when in fact a good number of otherwise politically liberal but socially conservative minorities do not support gay marriage either.

They really believe it. Not only the "civilians" but the Churches themselves, especially the Catholic Church.
They make no bones about it; they come right out and say it's time for the Church to "evolve" on this, on priestly celibacy, on ordaining women.
Has King Ever Gone To Mass?

Same experience here. Homosexuality gets mentioned from time-to-time...usually when libs are pushing for government sanction, but it doesn't seem to be any more of a pre-occupation than any other sins we are told to avoid. Certainly no one is called evil for sinning.
It is readily acknowledged by every priest I've ever heard that they are sinners, as are we all. The goal is to avoid sin and seek reconciliation when you ultimately fail in some regard. My biggest challenge is lust. I don't feel evil...just human. John King is a windbag with no clue about Catholics or priests.

Homosexuality is abhorent,

Homosexuality is abhorent, un-natural and dangerous. Having said that, whatever these unrepentent deviants do in their own bedroom (or bathouse, WH conference room, street corner, whereever) is between them and God. I hope they enjoy their perpetual life in a very warm, intolerant locale.
it's just politics

The real issue is not about denying two people in love equality and a chance to marry. In the states where Gay marriage is already legal what is the percentage of Gay men that have rushed to the alter? Bet it's pretty low. Take a survey of the Gay scene in San Francisco's Gay districts and find the percentage who have gotten married settled down to a normal married couple existence.
This issue is nothing more than an attack on another tradition that the Left hopes to tear down. When they have broken the people away from all of their loyalties and traditions the Left hopes to step in with their Big Brother government and run everyones lives turning this country into a mega-North Korea.

Yeah, I go to Church every week and have yet to hear any priest go on anti-gay rants. The Church teaches that it's wrong already so why would a priest beat a dead horse?
Of course anyone with common sense and a small knowledge of biology can tell you it's wrong, the parts don't quite fit and the function of sex is procreation, not the right to participate in a gay pride parade.

Yeah maybe obama can attend one of those Gay Pride parades where he can lead a submissive on a leash thats tied to a studded collar around the guys neck. That would really show obama is one with the Gays.
Of course if obama would wear some bottomless chaps that would really seal the deal for the Gays.

Don't anyone try to tell me this was a "risk." This was probably poll-tested 9 ways from Sunday, and they decided that it was a risk worth taking.

Romney nor any other candidate running as a Republican should never bring up gay marriage or respond to it, if asked. The Republican position has to be jobs, jobs, jobs and debt, debt and debt.
In the next few days every single person who will vote in November is going to know about Obama's views on "gay marriage".
There are going to be people who truly aren't going to know who the best candidate would be to fix the economy. They will make their decision on their gut feeling (emotional feeling) about the canditate. The number of items in that might be "I've never voted for a Republican before" or many other factors. But now the liberal media, trying to trap Republicans, will keep driving gay marriage into peoples heads for the next six months. I've always said that "liberalism is a mental illness", which is proven by the libs thinking that the entire U.S. is for "Gay Marriage". Undecided voters, gut feelings, because of "gay marriage" may sink Obama.
