D'oh! In his haste to condemn Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin last night far-left MSNBC anchor Keith Olbermann made a particularly elementary reading comprehension error.
The mistake, caught by our friends at Olbermann Watch, involved a report of a person at a McCain-Palin allegedly shouting out to "kill" Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama.
Rushing to tag the GOP ticket with this as much as possible, Olbermann expressed outrage that "as usual, [Palin] does nothing about it."
Unfortunately, however, Palin wasn't even on the stage at the time the remark was supposedly made as the Pennsylvania newspaper that the MSNBC ranter used as his source for the report stated. The comment was made at 1:25 ET, more than a half-hour before Palin and her husband Todd showed up at the event.
Don't hold your breath waiting for a correction.
Update 10-16 2:55. This entry has been slightly rewritten in light of a formal statement from Secret Service agents present at the rally denying that "kill him" was shouted.

She had a top-secret remote
October 15, 2008 - 08:43 ET by SickofLibsShe had a top-secret remote audio feed, like McCain did when he was on-route to Saddleback. When he got the questions ahead of time.
"And still she did nothing."
This is Keith Olbermann
October 15, 2008 - 13:14 ET by MikeknaJThis is Keith Olbermann we're talking about. He doesn't need to let little triffles like "facts" get in the way of a good rant.

Does anyone really think

Details
October 15, 2008 - 08:50 ET by KC MulvilleOlbermann is the leader in the The Disconnect between agenda and reality. Most media, at least, tether their agenda to some quote or event that can be verified. They may distort the quote or take it out of context, but at least they start their attack based on some smidgen of reality. But Olbermann takes it a step further. What does he need reality for? It's so much easier just to make it up.
This is the guy who ingratiates himself with the DailyKos crowd by accusing Bush of all kinds of inflammatory charges, the more outrageous the better. This guy who peddles rage and indignation. And he's calling for moderation and respect?

Olbermann, has no talent. So his rage and hatred lead him, blindly.
GWB-has not been 100%, we have been safe under his watch,!!!!
Olbermann will give him no credit for anything.
once McCain and the Lady Gov are sworn in, Olbermann should be held accountable for his hate speeches.
and given no access to the White house/

As usual the party of tolerance and inclusiveness
October 15, 2008 - 08:58 ET by c5thenShows by it's member's actions and words that they are really filled with hate, vitriol, bigotry and hypocrisy.
In his haste and verve to smear Gov. Palin, Olbermann doesn't even check to see if what he has planned to say is truthful, acurate or even in the realm of believability.
And as usual, MSNBC producers and executives do nothing about it.
"Kill" was not directed to Obama
October 15, 2008 - 09:09 ET by MeanderingI live in Wisconsin and the person who shouted out "Kill Him" was not directed at Obama. They were talking about William Ayers at the time the "shout out" happened. Just so everyone is clear.
This is what I thought.
October 15, 2008 - 09:22 ET by harqmanThis is what I thought. And it seemed to be reported that way in the beginning. Or at least it was not assumed to have been directed at BO. Because a threat like that to BO would seem to be a secret service issue. And I would think if Secret Service thought it was a threat or even suggestion that someone should, they would come down on that person pretty quick.
Clearly they did not feel it as a threat to BO. If they did the media would be reporting how the Secret Service came down on them.
The media doesn't care that
October 15, 2008 - 10:20 ET by bpjamThe media doesn't care that your interpretation is obviously true. Nobody would ever publicly call for Obama or any other politician to be killed. It's absurd. (Except for any rally by the Left against Bush where he is routinely called a terrorist, traitor, nazi, hitler, worlds worst terrorist, etc and calls for his execution, impeachment and hanging or public stoning)
The media is having another macaca moment where they just literally put their hands over their ears and start yelling na na na na na na, I can't hear you..... They want to change the subject and prevent Palin from overwhelming the momentum the media built up for Obama during the financial confusion.
She actually hates to admit
October 15, 2008 - 10:41 ET by bpjamShe actually hates to admit it.
Let's be honest here huh?? There is no fraud on the GOP side. There is no need for it. But without fraud there are half a dozen battleground states which are simply not doable in most any presidential election for the democrats. Think Florida, PA, WI, MO, NV, NM, CO or VA would be in play if not for huge numbers of voters who are on the rolls who probably don't exist?
Ever heard of polls being kept open until midnight in a Republican heavy precinct?? Nope. Ever heard of a GOP group registering phony voters or duplicate registrations? Never. Ever heard of absentee ballots being submitted en masse by the GOP with questionable backgrounds? Nope. Ever seen voters from NY or NJ voting at home and also at their winter homes down in FL??? Rand Corp said 60,000 democrats did in 2004.
Let's face facts. The GOP is more likely to want to prevent some people from voting based on disproving their qualifications to do so. And the Democrat party is more likely to create voters who do not exist because they are dead, they aren't actually residents of the state or they already voted once in the same election.
ACORN isn't turning in any Republican voter registration cards. Go ahead and ask them. They are only asking people who are minorities or obviously poor or dependent upon the government so they don't end up registering or energizing any Republican voters. They aren't going to malls, downtown office buildings or suburban strip malls. They aren't going to soccer parks, (non black) churches or to military bases.

October 15, 2008 - 09:17 ET by harqmanRachel Maddow is just the same. If you watch her show, keep your eyes on the "enemy" (read opposition), and you will see she has the same show. The uses the same talking points of course. She uses similar non verbals and verbal vocal cues as KO. She is an extension of his show. So it is 4 hours of the same thing with Chris as a book end.
There is NEVER anything pro America in either show. Not one good thing about America between the two of them. It is a shame. And they want to talk fairness doctrine. Yea okay.
If you are a half way decent American...
October 15, 2008 - 10:10 ET by jawebster1why would you subject yourself to watching Olbermann, Maddow and Matthews? All you are doing is punishing yourself and helping their dismal ratings. I let NewsBusters watch these shows for me so I can reinforce my reasons for not watching them myself. Jim Webster

In his own words (28 seconds): Obama's change.....SOCIALISM.
Sorry for changing the subject but...
October 15, 2008 - 09:38 ET by mizflame98...I think you all will find this story interesting. Warner Brothers is delaying their re-release of the movie Hanoi Hilton because they claim they don't want to influence the election.

This part of the article is very telling:
Barry Meyer, the company's chairman and chief executive, last month attended a fundraising dinner for Barack Obama, Mr McCain's Democratic opponent.
So much for trying to avoid being an influence on the election.

MSM Smear Tactics

October 15, 2008 - 10:02 ET by jawebster1for watching "Olberdork's" pathetic show so I don't have to. I can thank "Olberdork" for one thing and one thing only. Before he came along, I could not make up my mind which was the worst between ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN and "MESSNBC". Now I know. Jim Webster
Secret Service
October 15, 2008 - 10:18 ET by iveseenitallThe Secret Service made a "visit" to a woman's house in Florida because of a complaint from an Obama telephone worker. The woman says she won't vote for Obama because of his abortion stances. The Obama worker took that as a threat to Barry. Funny, I never read reports of investigations into what Olbermann says to millions of people every day. He insights traitorous behavior and hatred for President Bush, among other things. If, God forbid, Barry Obama gets elected, free speech will be among the first of your rights to be eliminated. And the state run press will be even more emboldened. Obama is a strange combinatiion of Arab fascism and Marxism. He's anti-Isreal, pro- PLO. He and his wife are radical leftists who despise so many things America stands for. And he may be the next POTUS. Sad.
NEVER,NEVER trust a "liberal"
Don't you love it?
October 15, 2008 - 13:01 ET by ArtisteWhen the dems take issue with one measly dissenter against Obama, yet jump for joy when the call to assassinate President is raised almost weekly or hang him in effegy. Can you imagine if the Republicans pulled that kind of crap on Obama? My god, we would all be called racists. Democrats have been responsible for some of the most despicable displays of hatred and bile and they have the nerve to question a heckler of two against their precious Obama. I can't imagine how they can look at themselves in the mirror everyday.
