CNN Gushes Over Biden's Reception From Democrat-Friendly NAACP

By Matt Hadro | July 12, 2012 | 13:07

A  A

While CNN initially panned Mitt Romney's Wednesday reception by the NAACP as "very negative," anchor Kyra Phillips was quite jovial about Joe Biden quoting scripture to the audience the next day.

A gleeful Phillips gushed that Biden "rolled out the scripture. He got spiritual on them, and they loved it! That is Joe Biden, we had to expect that." [Video below. Audio here.]

CNN's initial reaction to the two speeches is telling. After Romney's speech, CNN focused on the boos he received and reported the reception as "very negative," even though he received plenty of applause as well as a standing ovation from many attendees at the end. Correspondent Jim Acosta did mention the applause in his report hours later.

However, Romney was also speaking to a heavily pro-Democratic group. After the Democrat Joe Biden addressed the NAACP, Phillips broke her stoic reporter's demeanor and raved over his reception as if it were noteworthy.

"Ana Navarro, you have strong opinions to why you think the President did not go and ask Joe Biden to stand in for him," she said to the GOP strategist. "Then you see a speech like this, you get a reaction like this, and you tend to think, okay, it looks like that was a pretty good decision to make."

Democratic strategist Donna Brazile chimed in that "it was a family reunion. Joe Biden, as I mentioned, is very familiar with this audience."

However, Phillips seemed to contradict herself later by asking if Obama made a mistake by not addressing the NAACP in person – even though she had just said it was a "pretty good decision" to have Biden speak instead.

"Is he [Obama] taking the African-American vote for granted just by doing a video message and letting his number two come and make the big speech today?" she asked Donna Brazile.

African Americans For Obama

Submitted by Cool Arrow on Thu, 07/12/2012 - 1:44pm.

Isn't racism cute?

When Joe Biden gets a thunderous round of applause for reinforcing the Liberal argument that African Americans are a protected species, incapable of caring for themselves, I want to puke.

Well, he did say Black kids are stupider than White kids, and there was no outcry.

That's the pits of pathetic.

"Children should be educated to the degree the are educable"

Submitted by bkeyser on Thu, 07/12/2012 - 1:45pm.

I'd like a little more context, but if he meant this as he said it in this clip, how would that not have been considered racist had Romney said the same thing?

Well, Bob

Submitted by Cool Arrow on Thu, 07/12/2012 - 2:27pm.

All Joe Biden was doing was reiterating his stance that black people are stupid.  When asked why student test scores were higher in Iowa than DC, Joe had this bit of bigotry to offer.

“There’s less than one percent of the population of Iowa that is African American. There is probably less than four or five percent that are minorities. What is in Washington? So look, it goes back to what you start off with, what you’re dealing with.”

OK, maybe he's not saying black people are stupid, just their kids.  Wouldn't want to stray from the nuance of Joe Biden.

Cool,

I saw your post just after mine went up and had the GMTA vibe. Seriously, had Romney said any of this yesterday... Can you imagine?

Nice to see lots of people were there for it though.  I understand it's raining down your way. Don't venture out, it's too dangerous.

I'm off to the golf course in 45 minutes.

And the Lord knows I crave a 4" downpour more than I would appreciate a hole-in-one.

I have noticed great clouds of greenhouse gas floating overhead, and they do seem to affect the temperature greatly. Don't know what we can do about it.

When are they going to change their name?

Do they still really want to be called "Colored People"?

Unbelievable! I saw both yesterday and today's CNN coverage. The bias was so stark I am shocked! Oh wait, for a minute there I thought they were a real news organization and not an arm of DNC. My bad.

You're not alone!
