Nicolle Wallace Rides to Hillary's Defense on Roping Off Press

Remind me: before her View gig, did Nicolle Wallace work for Republicans or Democrats? I ask because on today's Morning Joe, she was the sole voice downplaying the significance of Hillary's minions having roped off the press during her July 4th parade walk.

According to Wallace,"we pay a little bit too much attention to [press] access to Hillary Clinton . . . just as an image, I don't that it was a bad press day for Hillary because of the rope corral."

Earlier, Wallace went into a protracted giggling fit while discussing the Greek fiasco. Perhaps she's trying to counter the notion that she's too "wonky" for The View's pop culture chat fest.

NICOLLE WALLACE:  Listen, the press has an outsized impression of how important they are to the outcome of a presidential campaign. They are important. They matter. That's why, you know, Jen's great and it's her job to take care of them. But I think we pay a little bit too much attention to their access to Hillary Clinton.

KATTY KAY: Right. But what you don't want is images like that that get out on Twitter and social media.

WALLACE: It hurts you among other media that wasn't there. I'm not sure that voters say like I'm going to go with Bernie because of this rope. I don't think that's the case.

JOE SCARBOROUGH: You're saying nobody cares?

WALLACE: I don't think it is a decisive matter . . . To the degree it is another proof point in the damaging narrative about her, sure it hurts. But just as an image, I don't  think that was a bad press day for Hillary because of the rope corral.
