Capehart Warns On Drone Strikes: Remember, A Republican Could Become President!

Sure, you might be cool with Barack Obama calling up a drone strike on an American citizen.  But don't forget: a Republican [shudder!] could become President!

That was the Washington Post editorialist Jonathan Capehart's warning to Donny Deutsch when the ad-man-turned-pundit proclaimed he had no problem with the president, under desperate circumstances, ordering a drone strike against an American.  View the video after the jump.

DONNY DEUTSCH: Jonathan, it's Donny.  Am I naive? I have no problem, and I trust my government--maybe that makes me naive. If we got to the point and as I listen to Mr. Brennan, where we were going to do a drone strike against an American citizen, it would be the most desperate of times, and I don't want to have to go through a FISA court, and I've got no problem with them doing it.

JONATHAN CAPEHART: Why I understand why you're not bothered by it, that could be because the President who's implementing this policy is someone you trust, but there are going to be other presidents. And as has been reported I believe on MSNBC yesterday, maybe even by Kelly [O'Donnell] , that it's the precedent that's being set up that is giving a lot of people concern. There's a Democrat in the White House today, there could be a Republican in the White House four years from now, eight years from now who might take this farther than we can ever imagine.
