Barnicle Complains To Carney: When Will Obama Stop 'Swinging At Air' And Go After Republicans?

By Mark Finkelstein | December 07, 2011 | 11:08

A  A

Barack Obama's political tone has become progressively more partisan since his "no red states, no blue states just the United States" warm 'n fuzziness at the 2004 Dem convention.   But President Obama's rhetoric is still not harsh enough to suit Mike Barnicle.

On Morning Joe today, the former Boston Globe columnist demanded to know of Obama press sec Jay Carney just when the president was going to stop "swinging at air" and start calling out Republicans by name.  Video after the jump.

Watch Barnicle in essence call for PBO to abandon any nod in the direction of hope 'n change Kumbayaism and resort to good old attack politics.

MIKE BARNICLE: It would seem to me, just reading the president's speech that he gave yesterday that he's onto the fairness issue, which I think, as we've talked about here obviously for quite --

MIKA BRZEZINSKI: -- will resonate.

BARNICLE: -- is the real issue out in the country: the fairness issue. People know that what's going on and has been going on for years now is just at some level isn't fair. And as we've said repeatedly, we don't care if you're rich, just, I don't want to be poor. That's the deal on this country.  That's the deal. So, Jay, in that context, when do you figure the timetable is for the president to stop swinging at air, which is what he did in a sense yesterday, and name his opponents: Boehner, McConnell, Cantor: Republicans, by name. They say no. They keep doing it. What's the timeframe for that?

JAY CARNEY: Well I, look, I think we've been pretty explicit. The president has, I have and others about what the obstacle is in Congress and we've named the names and parties and we're going to keep pressing on with that.

Note: in his intensely partisan speech yesterday, PBO explicitly alleged that "trickle down economics" doesn't work.  Consider that "trickle down economics" is simply a pejorative synonym for . . . capitalism.

PS: Check the screengrab.  Somebody give Jay Carney a hug!

This little snot-nosed

Submitted by killa37 on Wed, 12/07/2011 - 11:55am.

This little snot-nosed sophomore Carney is a total twerp - and if I were his father I'd be embarrassed as hell about it!! In fact, I'd pull him aside - in private - and line his wimpy ass out in no uncertain terms about being a man!!! He doesn't need a damn hug, he needs a couple of slaps!!!

But aside from that, and aside from the massive amounts of hot air that Boy BlahBlah exhales, spews, erupts, and generates - I'd say that he's been attacking just about anybody and anything that doesn't agree with him, so I'm not sure what Barney the Barnicle is talking about. Hell, in Barry's Teddy 'the original progressive' Roosevelt speech yesterday, he pretty much threw down the gauntlet at real, responsible, hard-working, reliable, dependable Americans................and challenged them to do even MORE for the rest of the lazy, dependant, non-productive, non-motivated people of this country.

Hell, it's not even 6 AM over here, and I've wanted to puke TWICE!!!! Oh.............maybe THREE times, Billy-Boy, after seeing that revolting email that you sent me!!! Hahahahahaha!!!

What the hell was Barnicle talking about...?

Submitted by NeoKong on Wed, 12/07/2011 - 11:41am.

"We don't care whether you're rich. I just don't want to be poor."

That is the exact opposite of what they have been talking about for months. They most certainly DO care who is rich. They tell us every chance they get. They want that money confiscated and redistributed to poor Democrats.

How about when he is out of office?

Submitted by ohio granny on Wed, 12/07/2011 - 11:52am.

Obama (little man that he is) already calls republicans out by name and anyone else who disagrees with him. Starting in Jan. 2013 he will have plenty of time to write ?? a new book. And I suspect his little feelings will be hurt that the American people were too dumb to give him another term to finish the job he started. That job by the way was and is the destruction of this once great nation.

How can someone be president who hates this country? Ask a liberal democrat and they will be glad to tell you. Idiots all, especially BHO.

Submitted by dmaley1714 on Wed, 12/07/2011 - 11:55am.

It is not fair I have to write my own articles, it is not fair I was fired for plagiarism. It is not fair that Pr Obama & the Dems had complete control of Congress for 2 years. 2010 was the Do Nothing Congress because Americans wanted this socialism train to stop. 2012 will be the UnDo Congress when Repubs get control and turn back the spending and regulations.

Mike Barnicle is a Plagiarizer and a Fool

Submitted by Conservator on Wed, 12/07/2011 - 1:20pm.

Joey loves to surround himself with lefties like Barnicle. If Obama was to take-up his suggestion and attack Republicans by name, does this twit realize it would only widen the gap between the two parties and loose any chance of any bipartisanism deal?

Regarding the so-called fairness issue, doesn't Mickey recall President Kennedy's quip that "LIFE IS NOT FAIR?" I love when the leftists talk how Republicans don't believe in science. Yet, they fail to acknowledge that according to the theory of evolution life is better describe as Survival of the Fittest. And that's not FAIR, but it is science.

PBO is always attacking

Submitted by eaglewingz08 on Wed, 12/07/2011 - 3:42pm.

PBO is always attacking repubs by name or having his surrogates do it and then he calls for civility from the other party and for them to unilaterally disarm. The problem for the dems and Obama is that their attacks on repub conservatives are not sticking cause the counrty got an unvarnished look at dem policies over four years and it was disgusted by what was enacted over strong objections.

Does Barnicle not remember

Submitted by Mark Finkelstein on Wed, 12/07/2011 - 4:14pm.

Does Barnicle not remember when the ungracious Obama called out conservative members of the Supreme Court as they were sitting before him at the State of the Union or when he called out Paul Ryan in a similar situation during a speech on the budget?

If Obama Comes Out Of His Hole Anyone Would Flatten Him

Submitted by Avitar on Wed, 12/07/2011 - 5:58pm.

Glass jaw Obama can be taken by anyone who won't pull their punches. Romney might not be willing to knock out Obama but Ron Paul could.
The Republicans have managed to stand up to cheap shots from Barnicle and all of his friends. He is begging for aid from Obama because the Republicans are so much tougher that the public figures are from the other side and it worries him. Given the RNC group call of this week he would have little to worry about but the Public may take off on its own and destroy the Progressives this next year.
