Did Sharpton Hint An Ambitious VP Giuliani Might Bump Off President Perry?

By Mark Finkelstein | August 22, 2011 | 22:24

A  A

Did Al Sharpton just suggest that if Rudy Giuliani were ever to become Vice-President, the former Mayor of New York might try to murder the president?  It sure sounded like it.

On his MSNBC show this evening, Sharpton asked Bob Shrum: "would you ever want to be president with Rudy Giuliani as the Vice-President, given his ambition?" Video after the jump.

AL SHARPTON: Somebody's saying Rudy should be the vice-presidential candidate for Rick Perry.

MICHAEL STEELE: That's an interesting thought. I'm sure that there's some folks talking about that.

SHARPTON: Bob, would you ever want to be president with Rudy Giuliani as the Vice-President, given his ambition? And I'm being very nice about it.

Sharpton's idea of being "very nice" to a political foe: accusing him of being a potential presidential assassin.

Al obviously took to heart President Obama's Tuscon massacre speech, in which PBO called on Americans to talk with each other "in a way that heals, not in a way that wounds."

Al: too much booze, too many "Sopranos" re-runs.

He needs to stop polishing off the five bottles of Ripple and watching "Sopranos" re-runs in his dressing room before MSNBC tapes his babbling.

not that I'm in any great hurry to rid MSNBC of the disaster that is Al Sharpton, but how is what he said not libel?? That's a horrible thing to say about someone. Where is he coming from with that?? Talk about a horrid sense of humor.

Al Sharpton is an idiot and this statement makes no sense at all

Sharpton seemed to be saying

Submitted by Mark Finkelstein on Mon, 08/22/2011 - 11:01pm.

Sharpton seemed to be saying that Perry wouldn't want to pick Rudy as his veep because the ambitious Giuliani might want to bump Rick off.

Bump off?

Submitted by nanabanana on Tue, 08/23/2011 - 12:47pm.

Or - undermine him every way possible so he could run against and defeat him in the following election? Something like that. Surely Sharpton wouldn't accuse someone of wanting to 'bump' someone off? Would he? For the love of Pete, when will all the insanity end?! (OK, OK, I do get the 'Italian thing').

Creature from the Tawana Brawley scandal and Bob Scum

Submitted by nadnad1776 on Tue, 08/23/2011 - 5:01am.

--When Bob Shrum was running a campaign for a democrat who was running against Texas Governor Ann Richards, in the primary,he raised the issue of Ann,s drinking. Governor Richards admitted having a drink or two, but denied there was any problem. Shrum then had his orcs plant stories about cocaine abuse, even thought he had no information whatsoever to indicate she ever used illegal drugs. Like usual, the Scum candidate lost. Seems like if you drag a twenty dollar bill through a campaign, you will find Bob Shrum chomping one the end of it.

Bob Shrum -- run if he shows up at your campaign HQ

Submitted by Galvanic on Tue, 08/23/2011 - 9:25am.

It would take a show like Sharpton's to put Shrum on as a subject matter expert. He's managed 8 major political campaigns to defeat. Whatever he advises, do the opposite.

Raciest Sharpton at it again.

Submitted by phryingphish on Tue, 08/23/2011 - 9:03am.

I can not believe how this RACIEST Sharpton gets away with what he says. The only reason he even alluded to Giuliani "bumping off" the president is because Giuliani is Italian. And Sharpton concludes, since he is Italian, Giuliani must be "connected" and therefore would kill the President of the United States.

Sharpton the Asshat

Submitted by Flig Narson on Tue, 08/23/2011 - 10:13am.

If I, as a seasoned, experienced (but unemployed) professional broadcaster tried to get a show on MSNBC, I would stand no chance whatsoever, because I'm not a "name." But this incoherent, stupid, clownish, racist, murderous buffoon Al Sharpton is handed an hour of national airtime every day. Maybe I should become an extortionist thug and see if I can get my own show. Oh that's right. I'm white. Never mind.

Who wants a VP with ambitions? They might even preside over the Senate, like they're supposed to!

Unless you're a fetus. The US Supreme Court

Or Anwar al-Awlaki.
