Ratings-Starved Uygur: The Devil Makes Me Cover Donald Trump

By Mark Finkelstein | April 30, 2011 | 07:20

A  A

Even at MSNBC, which gets crushed of course by Fox News in every prime-time slot, Cenk Uygur manages to come in dead last in ratings among his liberal peers.

So when Cenk claims that he doesn't want to cover Donald Trump but is forced to do so by The Donald's popularity, the baloney-meter starts screaming. Uygur opened his show last evening with a long segment on Trump, all the while apologizing to his audience for doing so.

View video after the jump.

Watch Uygur's phony-baloney excuse for doing for what he knows will play to his liberal audience--minute as it might be.

CENK UYGUR: Good evening everybody, I'm Cenk Uygur.  I'm going to be honest with you guys: we had an internal discussion here about whether we should do any more Donald Trump stories, because look, the guy is obviously a clown.  We get that, right?  But we decided that we had to.  Not because of Trump, but because of the unbelievable reaction he's been getting.  Last night we showed you that he was leading among presidential hopefuls in the latest poll.  He's leading.  What are we going to do, not cover the leading contender?  We hope that doesn't last, but that is the current situation.

When Cenk was later joined by Bill Press, he continued crying his crocodile tears about being forced to cover Trump.

UYGUR: Bill, you know, we're stuck on this, you know, and you know, damned if we do, damned if we don't.  If he's leading among contenders, you've got to cover the guy, right?

BILL PRESS: Look, absolutely.  I spent an hour on it on my radio show this morning for the same reason.  Here's the problem: there's such a vacuum of serious candidates.  They've got 18 candidates. They don't have anybody other than the crazies that the people seem to like.  Tim Pawlenty could not--it would be like asking him to cross-dress--to talk like Donald Trump.  The same thing with Mitt Romney. They're so boring.

For good measure, Press took a Republicans-are-racist shot.

PRESS: I'll you what might get [Trump] in the end: it's the F-bomb.  [Republicans] will tolerate racism, but I don't think they'll tolerate the F-bomb.

I'm a racist....

Submitted by adamsmith on Sat, 04/30/2011 - 7:30am.

I watched this "thing" on TV yesterday. "Racist,racist,racist..." I figure if him and Chrissy Tingles are screaming "Racist" on a 24 hour loop, they really have nothing left. He referred to me as a racist by implication a number of times and I thought to myself, "Self, you really are a racist. You hate fat, stupid Turkish Communists who pose as real journalists. My God man, you've been a hater all this time and didn't know it."

I don't know how this guy gets on TV, lies through his teeth, then goes home and actually can live with himself. He is yet another example that Progressive Liberalism is a mental disease......

Dear fellow racist.

Submitted by Newsbubba on Sat, 04/30/2011 - 3:40pm.

The funniest part of old Ka-chink Urper is that Mark has more people on his blog reading ABOUT the show than actually watch the show!  Ain't that great?

I'm still looking for someone who knows if Ka-chink is a Turkey Commie, or a Muslim turkey.  Nobody ever says.

Of course the two positions are incompatible since one doesn't believe in any god, while the other hears god telling them to blow up people and stone women.

Which is Ka-chink?  Anybody?  And where does he buy that stuff he greases his hair with?  It can't be lard, can it?

It is amazing how few watch TV and certain shows...

Submitted by Red Jeep on Sun, 05/01/2011 - 10:43am.

...but they stay on the air.

I'd say that NewsBusters probably has more readers than quite a few shows have viewers like Cenk and Joy Behar.

"I plan to beat Fox and be number one in the ratings."

“I also plan to beat them in the ratings and make them fear me.”

So, Cenk, how's that working out for you?

it's all in the name

Submitted by mayjon on Sat, 04/30/2011 - 9:28am.

'sink' is the approprite name for this guy, considering his ratings. He falls in the freaks and geeks category, though more geek. A perfect addition to mslgbt. It's a sad world when big dumb 'mr. ed' has higher ratings than 'sink uglier'. LoL

Maybe they should call him

Submitted by Slyrr on Sat, 04/30/2011 - 10:56am.

Maybe they should call him 'Sink'. Cuz that's all his ratings ever do.

But what did they expect? Wasn't this guy Olberdork's replacement? His ratings were in the toilet too. All of MSNBC is in the toilet.

Everyone knows the only reason this failed network stays open is because Obama is stealing our tax money and using it to keep them afloat - because they're 'his' network.

Chris 'I've Got Thrills In My Pants" Matthews summed it all up on the day of Obama's Immaculation: 'It's my job to make Obama look good!'

MSNBC new motto shouldn't be 'Leaning Forward'. It should be 'MSNBC: giving Democrats favorable coverage in exchange for money for 8 years and counting!'

If a Liberal/Democrat politician/media figure wants to put their arms around you, or pat you on the back, all they're doing is looking for a good place to stick a knife.

As politically incorrect as

Submitted by mostlymoderate on Sat, 04/30/2011 - 8:58pm.

As politically incorrect as it might sound, people simply don't want to listen to a foreigner with a foreign sounding name like Cenk Uygur bitch and moan about how miserable the U.S.A. is when that same foreigner is living the American dream because of how great the U.S.A. actually is.

That is why his show is a failure.
