Cenk Brags That As President He'd Be Tougher With Republicans Than Obama

By Mark Finkelstein | April 12, 2011 | 22:24

A  A

There's an old saw that every time a senator looks in the mirror, he sees a president.  Could the same be true of MSNBC hosts?

Twice tonight on his TV show, Cenk Uygur fantasized himself as president.  The muy macho MSNBCer naturally imagined he'd be much tougher with Republicans than President Obama.

View video after the jump.

Watch Cenk fantasize about giving Republicans the old Head & Shoulders brush-off.  Uygur first strutted his stuff to left-wing Dem congressman Xavier Becerra of California, a member of the Progressive Caucus.

CENK UYGUR: I know my strategy, and it's not the one that the president favors. If [the Republicans] said to me "it's unacceptable," I'd say "all right. It's unacceptable right back at you. This is what I think of your criticism," [demonstrating how he'd brush it off his shoulder.]  But that's not how the president operates.

A bit later, Cenk reprised his macho act for the benefit of the Politico's Roger Simon.

UYGUR: Roger, is that a real threat [left-wing revolt] here for the president?  Because I did this [replays shoulder brush off] just a little while ago about what I would do with Republican criticism? That seems to be what President Obama does with liberal criticism, non-stop.

Cenk Uygur Starring in "The West Wing - 2011"

Submitted by Chris Norman on Tue, 04/12/2011 - 10:54pm.

It seems that the blank canvas screen that was Obama who liberals projected all their fantasy visions of a successful liberal presidency upon three years ago can no longer hold those projections. The Obama canvas is now threadbare and full of holes. Now they are reduced to projecting their fantasies on themselves as individuals. They just can't accept that there can never be a "successful liberal presidency" - it's an oxymoron. Their delusions of success will forever be limited to old episodes of "The West Wing" ....

Who does this piece of Cenk think he is?

Why not fantasize?

The fact that Cenk Uygur was born in Istanbul shouldn't stop him from dreaming of becoming President of the United States.

Ah... "Quien Es Mas Macho?"

Submitted by Mike Bratton on Tue, 04/12/2011 - 10:50pm.

"Fernando Lamas, o Ricardo Montalban?"

Senor Montalban, si, es mas macho.

"Cenk Uyger, o Barack Obama?"

Estos hombres no son macho en absoluto.

Mark, I cannot hear the word "macho"...

...without hearing Bill Murray asking that weighty question.

And the answer is, always, Senor Montalban.

He'll be dead within five years,

Submitted by BBallleaper on Tue, 04/12/2011 - 10:56pm.

Check out the bloated face, the clubbed fingers, the always having to catch his breath (which by the way I'm sure must smell wonderful across the interview table. This guy is a walking advertisement for a heart attack or stroke. I give him five years, a stent or two, an angioplasty here and there, and he's finished. Forget him.

Yeah, keep telling yourself that

Submitted by jon_torlin on Tue, 04/12/2011 - 11:13pm.

Yeah, Cenk, just keep telling yourself that as you keep yip-yip-yipping at the mirror like a chihuahua barking at his own reflection.   You'll be taken just as seriously.

Stupid idiot.

Ok...so what would he do?

Submitted by Tenebrous on Wed, 04/13/2011 - 2:26am.

Would he spend more? Would he get into two more kinetic military actions? Would he redefine more words? Would he say more insane things than Obama has? Would he mispronounce more words? Would he nationalize more companies? Really, what is there left to be tougher about, unless you want to fashion yourself more of a thug and a liar?

Scratch a leftist and you'll find a tyrant -- always. This man, like so many others, is just another wannabe Stalin.

Actually, when BO made his infamous "But I won" statement he was brushing off the Republicans. The last election showed him how well that worked.

Cenk reminds me of the guy in the bar that talks tough but when confronted pees in his pants, screams like a little girl, and runs away crying.
