Schultz Guest: Obama Will 'Come Close' To Castrating O'Reilly Pre-Super Bowl

By Mark Finkelstein | January 07, 2011 | 20:51

A  A

Guess we could get used to Bill a few octaves higher . . .

Radio host Lionel has predicted that Barack Obama will "come close" to gelding [castrating] Bill O'Reilly when the president does an interview with the Fox News host on Super Bowl Sunday.

Lionel, who's real last name is . . . Lebron, made his prediction of what would be news-breaking neutering on this evening's Ed Show.

View video after the jump.

An evidently jealous Ed had kvetched throughout the show about Obama going on with O'Reilly.

When Lionel came on, he explained that it was traditional for PBO to interview with someone from the host Super Bowl network, as he did last year with Katie Couric.   He went on to make his vulgar castration prognostication.

LIONEL: Now I would have gone on The Ed Show, but that's me.

ED SCHULTZ: I'm rooting for you for president, if that's the case.

LIONEL: No, but I'm serious. I know it's going to kill you, but a lot of people are going to be watching it: it is the Super Bowl. But watch him defuse, and, I don't want to say make a gelding out of Mr. O'Reilly, but as close to it as you're going to get [makes cutting sound.]

O'Reilly and Obama--hadn't heard this

Submitted by StarAZ on Sat, 01/08/2011 - 1:00pm.

Another reason to get some root canals on Super Sunday. The problem for Factor viewers like me will be the incessant leadup. Oh, well--we are tough. As for who is gelding whom--my money is on O'Reilly to slam home some of his cherished views, such as cut spending 25% in 3 years, problem solved...If the economy is like this in 2012 (he calls it two-twelve), you are toast. Or: Obamacare is unconstitutional--get over it.  I dunno--I may have to watch...not that O'Reilly won't provide ample clips for the next six mos! I need a nap now after hearing this.

Submitted by truthspeaker on Sun, 01/09/2011 - 7:56pm.

I heard O'Reilly say that he was not against Obamacare, actually thought it might work out but was withholding judgement. As far as cut spending 25%, understand that

#1 - that is nearly impossible, and any conservative that waffles on about spending never seems to be able to articulate exactly what they want to cut. besides, it is Congress who needs to propose these cuts... a prez can't promise to pass bills that haven't passed through both houses

#2 - spending cuts in the midst of a recession are a dumb idea, unless like all the other right wing economists you think you are smarter than John Maynard Keynes. And you're not. Or to put it another way, unless you think that Herbert Hoover was a genius and the Great Depression never happened.

Anyhow, I don't expect Obama or Oreilly to be uncivil towards each other. It would serve neither of them to do so....

I saw BOR last night.  He said the Superbowl interview will be about how about percieves himself as a leader, and things like that.  He's going to try to get extra time to ask policy questions to show for the next three Factor shows.

So you can probably skip the Sunday interview and wait for the good stuff on BOR's show.

I don't like Baldwin, but lets stay out of his family business.

Submitted by Rusty Shackleford on Sun, 01/09/2011 - 2:55am.

I'm thinking this will be a good thing for Obama because O'Reilly always seemed to throw softballs at his big-name leftwing guests.  His interview of Dan Rather was the final straw for me and after that I took his show off my daily DVR recording.  He would strongly challenge lesser known lefties but when he interviews a big name he might as well be Katie Couric.  He also tends to shout down fools instead of allowing them to say their thing, and he's a populist and not a conservative so he will routinely say idiotic trendy things so long as it's not considered liberal.  For example, he'll get on TV and tell people to boycott gas on a certain day because it's not like they won't buy their gas the next day.

So here's the problem:

With Fox having the reputation of being the anti-Obama, and with O'Reilly being one of their biggest names this interview will draw a lot of viewers that don't normally watch Fox.  If O'Reilly treats Obama like McCain treated Obama during the election debates then people are going to walk away saying "Oh, I guess Obama's really not all that bad.  I guess Fox has just been fearmongering this whole time.  Now who am I going to pick for Dancing with the Stars?"
