Desperate Schultz Slews 100% Negative

By Mark Finkelstein | October 27, 2010 | 22:05

A  A

How desperate is the liberal media? How totally has it abandoned any attempt to run on the Obama record?  Ed Schultz's MSNBC show this evening was 100% Obama-record free.  It was—entirely and without exception—devoted to Republican bashing.

Come along, if you dare, down Ed's miserable, fly-blown landcape, as we break down the sorry show, segment-by-segment . . .

Segment 1: Incident prior to Kentucky senatorial debate. Trial lawyer Mike Papantonio refers to Tea Partiers as "primitive, Neanderthal" and repeatedly calls them "tea baggers."

Segment 2: Alaska Republican senatorial candidate Joe Miller a "liar."

Segment 3: Mocking Glenn Beck for his support of Colorado gubernatorial candidate Tom Tancredo.

Segment 4: Glenn Beck's "racist followers" are targeting the Chairman of the Milwaukee Democratic party because he had the guts to stand up to Fox News.

Segment 5: Debate between Republican Ron Christie and liberal radio talk-show host Joe Madison.  Topics: 1.Juan Williams firing.  Schultz again shows pro-management, anti- worker sentiment: "go away: people get fired all the time." 2. Christine O'Donnell's contentious radio interview.

Segment 6:  Focus on John Boehner.  According to Schultz "this guy has absolutely no backbone." Guest, Boehner's Dem opponent.  Focus exclusively on advertising, polling, process.  Questions on opponent's support for Obama agenda: zero.

Segment 7: More Rand Paul bashing.

Segment 8: Interview with Las Vegas Sun reporter Jon Ralston. Focus: Sharron Angle's accusations of vote-stealing by Harry Reid.  Schultz says Nevada Secretary of State has dismissed the accusations.  Doesn't mention said Secretary is Democrat.

So there you have tonight's Ed Show, folks.  Time devoted to advocating election of Democrats based on Obama/Dem-congressional achievements on health care, employment, foreign policy, energy, stimulus, bail-out, whatevuh: 0.00 seconds.  Time devoted to Republican-bashing: eight out of eight segments.

How do you know when the MSM and their Dem cohorts are losing? When all they've got is gashing the other guy, and can't say a word--not one--in support of their own record.

"Come along, if you dare down Ed's miserable, fly-blown landscape..."

I don't dare. I can't take him - even for a second. I don't know whether to get mad at this buffoon or laugh at him. I do know he will be back in South (or was it North) Dakota before long.

Old rule of lawyering:  When the law is on your side, argue the law.  When the facts are on your side, argue the facts.  When neither is on your side, pound the table.

Sounds like ol' Ed spent a whole hour pounding the table tonight.

If a tree falls...

Submitted by neutron on Wed, 10/27/2010 - 10:41pm.

If a tree falls in the forest of falsehoods on MSNBC, where only their faithful libtards are watching, did it make any noise?

Seriously, the MSNBC hosts, guests, and faithful audience are always foaming at the mouth, beating their breasts, wailing and gnasing their teeth about something. It's like freeway noise or having a train run near your house; after a little while, you don't even notice it.

If MSNBC, CNN, CBS, ABC, NBC,PBS/NPR, the NYTimes, Bill Maher and those other two foregetable comics, USA Today, Rolling Stone orand People Magazine were actually powerful, then Obama would have approval numbers of 75+ and the Dems would be adding seats to their majorities. Instead, there is what appears to be a historical tsunami of voter pushed change coming in on Nov 2nd. The voters must have other sources of information than those legacy / dinosaur media outlets, who have been losing readers / viewers and the public's trust continuously for decades.

Personally, I think Lil' Eddie is funny like a flustering blustering comedian from the 1940s, only Lil' Eddie isn't talented. He's just a big joke reading queue cards... like his hero BHO.

I have always been more

Submitted by Chris Norman on Wed, 10/27/2010 - 10:56pm.

I have always been more concerned with the bias (subtle and not so subtle) in news and entertainment shows on the major networks, newsmagazines, and newspapers than the outright liberal cheerleading on openly liberal shows like those on CNN and MSNBC in it's entirety. The former is much more insidious in that it skews reality to the left  for their consumers (those who remain) who still (for some reason) trust the content as neutral.

Ed Schultz isn't insidious or effective - so he is - at most - like a circus sideshow. He's there for our amusement , pity, or horror.

Chris, I entirely agree, and it's that kind of insidious bias that we try to focus on at NB, as you know.  Still, I think it's useful to take Ed's temperature as a barometer of MSM desperation.

No intended put down here

Submitted by Chris Norman on Wed, 10/27/2010 - 11:31pm.

No intended put down here Mark. I think it's important to note the out of control situation on these openly liberal (although I guess they still try to deny it) venues. I just think - on occasion - it's helpful to note the difference in the various forms, locations, and effects of bias.

Quills

Submitted by KC Mulville on Thu, 10/28/2010 - 12:56am.

In a later thread on NB, we see the liberals defending themselves with the fantasy that their ideas are just too complex for ordinary people to grasp.

Motherbelt posted: "Don't forget Mario Cuomo saying that conservatives make their point  with crayons, whereas liberals use fine-point quills."

And right after reading that post, I saw this one about  ... Ed Schultz.

Fine ... point ... quills ?????

It was touch and go there for awhile

Submitted by KC Mulville on Thu, 10/28/2010 - 12:49pm.

I was off NB, and when I came back, I saw those items, with the later one listed first. That's why I saw the Cuomo quote first, and then Schultz. At first, I was certain that this was a setup.

Over the course of the last few days, the Democrat panic has brought out one unavoidable fact about media liberals: they're just plain rude. They come into your home by the TV, insult you as ignorant, and then start blaming you for their own idiocies.

I've also noticed that media liberals think the rest of the country is liberal, and they they're only saying publicly what the country really believes. And while every poll and TV ratings survey tells them the country is diametrically opposed to liberalism, they pay no attention and jabber as if the country is as blind as they are.

"Guest, Boehner's Dem opponent. "

I loved this part.  Hard hitting questions from Special Ed such as "Hmmm.  What does your internal polling show?"

Guess what!  Boehner's out!  (insert laugh track here)

Have you seen Ed anywhere outside of his padded time slot? Not me.  Never on Prime time and NBC wouldn't touch him with a ten foot pole.  Moaning Joe in the morning ridicules him without mentioning his name.

If ,despite hopelessly silly liberal media characters like Janeane Garrafalo, Mike Malloy, and Joyce Behar, other liberals are embarrassed by Sgt Ed Schutz - that's saying something really, really bad about Sgt Schultz. Yikes.

Mark, I said long ago that the Liberal Breakdown would be fun.

Submitted by acaiguana on Thu, 10/28/2010 - 6:47am.

It is fun.  These people seem to be coming out of the cracks like cockroaches every other day.  All the usual suspects have gone bonkers and a new one gets added daily. (pun there)

Sheen for example, in his hotel room is a perfect icon for the Liberal Left.  And he was on probation.  But did he learn?

ummmmm

no.

The playbooks were the same as always for the Democrats and when the Left (about 20% of all Americans) finally got their hands on the horse (forget the car) they started out down the trail sitting side-saddle and are now facing the back, riding away from the sunset and screaming "Whooo Horsey, Whoooo!"

Good one Mark.
