'On Stump Last Night, Obama Was Trivializing' Wright Ruckus

Was Barack Obama's denunciation of Rev. Wright yesterday just some ginned-up anger, a show for the cameras—and the voters? You might think so, to judge by Andrea Mitchell's surprising revelation on today's Morning Joe . . .

View video here.

JOE SCARBOROUGH: What do you think of the Obama statement yesterday? Was it enough to finally put this behind him?

ANDREA MITCHELL: Perhaps, yes. He had to do it. This thing had been a nagging, you know, problem, an open wound really. This was a very public divorce. I should point out, though, that quite to my surprise when he was out on the stump last night, once again Obama was kind of trivializing it, saying "well, my opponents are making fun of me, and trying to define me, and saying I don't put my hand over my heart, and they talk about my former pastor's crazy statements." So he was trying to blame it on McCain, Hillary, whoever, rather than on what he earlier said in a very specific and dramatic way.

SCARBOROUGH: Wow! That's interesting. So he's downplaying it again as silly?

MITCHELL: Well, out there on the stump he was, only hours after this, as I say, very public divorce.

I like how the way the Dems will couch their criticism of something, like the Wright controversy, as it will "give the nasty GOP something to use as an attack against us" - as if, in itself, it's not all that bad.

What criticism?

But of course -- after all, what's wrong with some good anti-American sentiment? America deserves to be criticized -- they think it's just too bad intellectual midgets like us on the right think the President of a country ought to actually LIKE his (or her) country.

But don't worry yourself too much, the media will keep trying to make this blow over, and those racist blowhards on the right will be silenced for good once they get a President in the White House so they can force some "fairness" doctrine down our throats.

Then they can get to the serious work of taking everyone's paycheck for the common good, and introducing [socialist] universal health care, fully funding all abortions, and making sure nobody in America makes more money than a US congressperson.

Like Neal Boortz says, we are headed towards being nothing but a giant assisted living facility.

If you've paid attention to Obama giving a speech, that's how he does his criticism and his defense...he goes into that "cocky teenager" mode, using that smart-a$$ tone, waving his hand in a dismissive manner. He does the same thing when he criticzes his opponents; he's done it with Mrs. Clinton. It's kind of like "Yeah, well they can talk about me all they want, they've got nothing on me.

Soon he'll probably make it a point to "dust off his shoulders" after he does his riff.

If leftist, Andrea Mitchell

If leftist, Andrea Mitchell is reporting this, then it just shows that Barack's "divorce" from Wright was disingenuis and gratuitous.

There is no way on earth that Obama didn't know or hear the things Wright said from the pulpit and beyond. I think he's trying to hide his true colors (no pun intended) just as Jimmy Carter did...beware, beware. You know where he lead us...

marpel, I don't know if

marpel, I don't know if you've seen it, but I've posted elsewhere that Obama and Wright knew a year ago that this was a problem. They both agreed that Obama was going to have to "publicly distance himself" (Wright's words) from the pastor. How would he know that, except that he knew, from years of experience with him, what his pastor was like? So there is no way that Obama was taken by surprise with this.

Mother, I never saw your posting. Thanks for point that out. I'm just incredulous as to why Obama thinks he can pull the wool over everyone's eyes. Like the "Don't believe your lying eyes" excuse from a cheating husband. LOL

Here;s the story, from last

Here;s the story, from last year, if you want to read it. The Wright quote is near the end.

As to your wondering why he gets away with it: because the MSM has no interest in pursuing it. It's like a woman who suspects her husband is cheating but doesn't look too closely or ask him outright; she doesn't really want to know, because the answer would devastate her happy life.

Even today, the NYT, which carried that story and should know better, is simply calling again for a "conversation on race." That's their solution to everything.

Oh, puhleeze.

We've heard of a "marriage

We've heard of a "marriage of convenience". Now, we have a "divorce of convenience".

Chris... ...and from

Chris...

...and from things I have read here to get caught up on it seems the leftists here and there are attempting to spin this for the repubs to pay the alimony....

bt,

LOL. I wonder if Obama would pay Rev. Wright "alimony" if he'd agree to a gag order. :)

Oh yeah Chris...that would

Oh yeah Chris...that would be an affirmative!
