Far be it from NB to suggest any correlation between liberal political orientation and a propensity for prostitution. But in the wake of the Spitzer scandal, the New York Times has run an article profiling three call girls, and we couldn't help but look for telltale signs of their politics. There were no particular hints regarding one of the ladies. But as for the other two . . . well, let's say it's unlikely they'll be turning up anytime soon as contributing editors at NewsBusters.
Ava Xi’an is the apparently apolitical pro. She claims to have gotten into the business to pay for a heart bypass operation for her father . . . who doesn't have health insurance. Bush made her do it, you might say.
As for the other two, Sally Anderson is "an unapologetic feminist" who was "raised in a fancy New Jersey suburb with what she described as 'very progressive parents.'” Oh, and she's planning to leave the profession "to study social work in graduate school." I'd say that wraps it up.
Then there's Faith O'Donnell "a Williamsburg [Brooklyn] hipster with entrancing blue eyes." The giveway as to her politics? she "carries an NPR tote bag and might offer up a few pleasantries on the Whole Foods checkout line." Fan of NPR and Whole Foods? The Obama demographic to a 't'!

If you think I am wrong, ask yourselves why the NYT didn't interview any middle-aged or old aged prostitutes? That is because they go from stupid young girls to burned out hags in a couple of years.
By the way, put aside any notion that prostitution is a "business." It is slavery. These stupid girls are "run" by their pimps. The real money is pimping - that is, if your "hip and cool" fellow pimps don't kill you for your "stable" of whores first.
Whole Food's check out line, indeed! More like a 3am run to Wal-Mart to steal some milk for the kid that was left at the pimps "crib" earlier that day or was it early last week?

Oh -- and would you care to comment on my orginal post that the NYT, in creating a fantasy article around what they imagine is the "world" of "high-class" "call girls" was a great disservice to the actual reality of prostitution.
And that would be a reality in which troubled young women (some as young as 12), runaways, victims of gross male violence, incest and abuse, are dragged down into one of the vilest things human beings can do to other human beings.
And that would be to get them to sell part of their soul peice by piece, to dull their eyes, to take everything they have or will ever have.

It does not bother me that people like Vitter, Spickler and Haggerty went to see prostitutes or engage in gay sex. What they do in their own time is their own business. It bothers me the most that these 3 individuals are such hypocrites. They preach familie values and go after prostitution rings when they are guilty of sins of the flesh themselves.
I'm not saying that being a prostitute is a great profession and there are not many drugs and diseases going on, but not all women that have been in the proffession for many yrs are drawn out hags. Some truly are doing it to put themselves through school or just to survive. I believe the going rate is something like $200 per hour. That is fast and easy money and I don't see anything wrong with them making that choice

Ask any one of many illegal aliens who get free medical treatment, even chemotherapy.
As for the woman with "very progressive parents," I'm sure she's not even using her real name. Why? I'm sure her "very progressive parents" would be ashamed their daughter is a whore. And if it's such a wonderful job, why is trying (so she says) to get into social work?? Social work pays lousy money and it's very depressing. What, the MBA program is too hard?
As for the hipster chick, all of that organic food isn't going to save her from the herpes, clap, and other nasty diseases that are job-related hazards.
