Suddenly Conservative Keith Concerned Rudy Has 'Infidelity, Morality Issue'

Keith Olbermann: new Puritan? Perhaps.

Unless memory fails it's hard to recall Keith condemning Bill Clinton for his flings on grounds of morality. But when it comes to a Republican presidential candidate, has the Countdown host gone Cotton Mather on us?

Newsweek's Jonathan Alter was Olbermann's guest on this evening's Countdown to discuss the issue of Giuliani's accounting for the expenses of his security detail accompanying him on trips to Long Island, assertedly for purposes of visiting his then girlfriend and wife-to-be Judith Nathan.

KEITH OLBERMANN: The other side effect of this, you just mentioned it, what people in New York took sort of took for granted which was this sturm and drang about Rudy and his women and basically firing his wife on TV, which he did. Is there a side-effect coming on this nationally, the "oh-yeah" effect? "Oh yeah, he has kind of an infidelity issue, a kind of morality issue."

So that's Olbermann's new standard? Infidelity is a significant fault in a presidential candidate? Good to know.

Two standards

KOed is consistant on that.Dems can do whatever they want.It is ok if a Repub does it is a big issue.

What's funny about that

What's funny about that is that being gay and having sex with teenagers is Ok if your a liberal but if your a Republican and do it you need to be fired from your post and kept away from teenagers because you may do irreperable harm to them.

It's amazing the press and even the gay activists won't call anbody on it.  Just like it's Ok to call a Black Conservative "not black" cause he doesn't toe the liberal line.

Liberals and the media get so hung up on racism and then don't even realize they are racists themsevles.  Who would ever have thought of a white calling another white guy, "not white"?  We think independently.

Yup

Look at the racist garbage Steele and Condi had to put up with. That is ok.Msm doesnt care because they arent left wingers.

Apparently, Republican

Apparently, Republican candidates have "an infidelity issue, a kind of morality issue," which of course, affects their fitness to lead the country. Once a guy is in the White House, however, the standard changes. He can have an infidelity issue, a morality issue, right there in the Oval Office, and it suddenly becomes a "personal issue, " between him and his wife, nobody's business, and is completely separate from to his ability to do his job as President.

Hey MB, Keith must be under the impression

Hey MB, Keith must be under the mistaken impression that Republicans actually watch his show.

Keith must think that since he's down-the-middle that Evangelical, and/or Moral people are both stupid and gullible enough to watch his show and buy into this dog and pony show designed to trash Rudy.

You're right, and I am so

You're right, and I am so grateful to Mark and the others here who bite the bullet and watch it....so I don't have to!

And in my comment above, I should have said "once a Democrat gets into the White House...."

I have to admit

I actually watch KO occasionally. It’s kind of fascinating to watch Keith sell out his journalist soul. If he has any perspective left, it couldn’t be something he’s proud of. It’s also interesting to try to figure out what sane, rational person watching wouldn’t see through his sick, childish rhetoric.

The media have so many

The media have so many double standards but the most hilarious of them all is when it comes to infidelity. After Bill Clinton not only cheating with scores of women, but also harrassing, groping, and raping, and the msm ignoring or excusing it, but then to suddenly act like infidelity is a big deal when a Republican does it is too ridiculous and hilarious to even comment on. HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA! is the only response.

Keith Overbite is just about the worst of them all when it comes to these double standards. He's gotta be the closest to practically saying, "Hey everyone, my purpose is to promote Democrats and demote Republicans."

Every other presidential candidate knows they will have a life after politics. But for Hillary, politics IS her life.

Exactly.

Keith, great to see you are suddenly concerned about such things.  Now presumably, you will duck the Clinton rape issue because there was no conviction (so OJ didn't kill two people, right?).  But Kathleen Willey came to him upset and in tears and he didn't let that stop him from very sensitively copping a feel and propositioning her.  Comment, please?

I'm totally able to agree that Keith has a double standard

But he's hardly the only one...Let's face reality, Rudy-fans. Your candidate has a "Penis resembling Bill Clinton's" issue, and it's not likely to go-away any more than Bill's did. For me, especially so-soon historically after Slick's Oral Office entertainment issues, it's a problem despite the benefits of "shooting fish in a barrel" easy humor.

Imagine how you'd all feel about all this girlfriend-bangin' on the taxpayer's dime if Rudy were a Democrat running for the Presidency?? (Considering Giuliani's admitted left-wing views on issues like abortion & guns, this isn't THAT far-fetched a party-cross-dressin' fantasy...) Rev. Robertson may have no problem these days with screwin'-around on the wife (for reasons beyond my ken) but one needn't be a puritan to have issues...

sarcasmo

Did you HAVE to call this issue "Penis resembling Bill Clinton's" ?

So much for the rest of my dinner sitting here.

"MY end justifies THAT mean." - Shakespeare (not really)

Yes, sadly I must

After the Pat Robertson endorsement, something was needed to put things back into context, and I'm filling that role as a public service. Rudy-fans should be thanking the Good Lord for the incredible teflon-factor, IMO. If a certain ex-gynecologist had these exact same penis-issues instead of a solid 50+year marriage (to a wonderful potential First Lady I was pleased to meet a few months ago!) people here and in the news media would no-doubt be just as merciless. Sauce for the goose...

The bottom line

It doesnt matter which party or candidate just use the same standard.

KO's just torqued

because he usually has to pay for his.

Yes....

... I hear that Keith wears boxer shorts in the bath tub to keep him from looking down on the unemployed.

Life can be a real b*tch... so why vote for one?

LMAO

LMAO

KO is obsessed with sex

KO is obsessed with sex simply because he can't do it himself. Over compensation.

Is it just me...

... or does Olbie look so creepy in those brownish, gray suits he loves to war? He almost looks like some Tim Burtonesque, 1950s freak to me.

And I still think he's had

And I still think he's had Botox....his forehead never wrinkles.

Speaking of that did anyone see O'Reilly the night he had the Botox'd lady on and he asked her to "look angry"? ROFL!!

At least BOR is botox free

mother -- BOR does have his faults, mainly in inflating the influence of so-called "rightwing" hate groups as if they are on a par with the organized lunacy on the left.  (Which I understand, even though if I disagree.)

But as you can seen by his frequent use of clips from shows 10 years ago, Billy boy is growing old gracefully and botox free.

BATH-TUB-BOY...

It may be redundent, but I might as well remind people that BathTubBoy is called BathTubBoy because during his 1st stint at MSNBC, he would not get out of his tub during the Bill Clinton/ Monica sex/impeachment/purgury scandal. I find it hard to believe that BathTubBoy would give a crap about Rudy's personal life given what he thinks of Bill's sexcapades.

BathTubBoy is simply put, the most hyper-partisan @$$ on the cable news market. He has never had anyone on his show that disagrees with him, ever. His ratings suck, his book sales sucked, he's biased, & he has to be one of the most unhappy people I've seen, along with Jack Cafferty. I have a feeling that if Hillary does not win The White House, he will become so bitter & hatefull he will get himself fired. It won't take much, & since he burns his bridges everywhere he's been, getting another gig might be harder then he thinks.

I must admit, I love the fact that he is this bitter & angry everyday when he wakes up. I will enjoy watching him meltdown, on live television.

Rudy...bad, Bill...not so bad.

Ratings Experiment

I very seldom watch KO's program, but my TIVO is set up to record it every day. I do this in order to be able to review any program segment flagged by bloggers showing his stupidity.

I wonder how much of his show ratings are from people like me? As an experiment I think I will disable my TIVO recording of his show for the period 12/3/07 to 12/7/07 and ask everyone else who records his show but seldom watches it to do the same.

Spread the word. If this drives his ratings into the tank for the week we could continue this and force his show off the air and put him back into locker room interviews where he can keep himself employed and aroused.

DISABLE TIVO RECORDING 12/3 TO 12/7 and watch his ratings

Is anyone surprised?

Is anyone surprised that Keith Olbermann was going to capitalize on this made-up story? This is the man who claimed that a mayor of a city should have stopped airplanes from flying into his city's tallest buildings.

If the man had any honesty at all his next show would be entitled: "Appeal to Republicans: Don't vote for Rudy because I want Hillary to win the general election"

Olbermann

Olberman condemning Rudy's "infidelity and immorality"??? Sometimes there are just no words to describe "liberal" hypocrisy. Any human being who would even think of voting for a "liberal" should take a hard look in the mirror, then go in a room and re-consider his/her own values.

NEVER , NEVER trust a "liberal"
