Politico's Hearn: Hillary's Positive Poll Number 'Exciting,' Republicans Less Authentic Than Dems

Was it just a slip of the tongue, or did Josephine "Josie" Hearn of Politico just let her liberal slip show? On this evening's "Tucker," she sure seemed to wax enthusiastic over a positive poll result for Hillary.

Norah O'Donnell subbed for Tucker Carlson on his MSNBC show this evening, and talk turned to the latest LA Times|Bloomberg poll, which put Hillary at 48%, with Obama at 17% and Edwards trailing with 13%. Norah invited Hearn to comment.

NORAH O'DONNELL: Josie, it just shows she's continuing her wide margin on just about every demographic, right?

Story Continues Below Ad ↓

JOSIE HEARN: Yeah, and I think the most exciting thing, or interesting thing, about this poll is that two-thirds now view her health-care plan, the failure of her '94 health-care plan, as being an asset to her. I think this is a triumph for the campaign, they've turned this failure into an asset. I mean, would you do that in other situations? Would you say, well, Bush's failures in Iraq, you know, that means he's really well-equipped to handle the next foreign policy problem? It doesn't transfer, but somehow the campaign has been able to that, and it's been remarkable, and it's really helped her a lot in using that legacy from the White House as a strength.

The positive poll result on Hillarycare was "exciting"? Now I suppose it's possible that Hearn simply made an unfortunate choice of words, and she clearly seemed to realize that she had goofed, amending her remark to substitute "interesting." But let's test that assumption. Those of you who are reading this who are not, shall we say, huge Hillary fans: what are the odds that in reacting to a positive poll result for Clinton, you would, even mistakenly, ever describe it as "exciting"?

Aside: Here at NewsBusters, we would never engage in guilt by association. But I do note that Hearn is an alum of Williams College, a distinction she shares with a certain . . . Mika Brzezinski.

Update -- Hearn Finds Republicans Less Authentic Than Dems

A bit later, the panel was raking Rudy, a yellow-dog Yankee fan, over the coals for announcing that he's rooting for the Red Sox in the World Series. The presumption was that he is pandering to New Hampshire voters. When NBC News political director Chuck Todd suggested that the lack of authenticity among both Dems and Republicans could incite a third-party candidacy, Josie jumped in.

HEARN: Especially the Republicans have a problem with authenticity because they're all trying to move more to the right. A lot of them are moderates or have been moderates in the recent past.

Say what? Dems aren't shifting positions, too? Like Hillary who was famously known to dislike the military as First Lady now trying to position herself as a hawk? Or Obama, trying to position himself for the South Carolina primary, going into a church and announcing "we’re going to keep on praising together. I am confident that we can create a Kingdom right here on Earth." Or Edwards, who ran for senator from North Carolina as a moderate but now has moved far left? Or Kucinich, who used to be pro-life but became pro-choice when he developed presidential ambitions? Need I go on?

If anyone has a problem with authenticity, it might just be Hearn, trying to present herself as an authentically unbiased reporter.

You know that if a democrat

You know that if a democrat doesn't win in '08, the self-aggrandizing liberal machine will make the 2000 Florida recount look like a county fair raffle. Their sense of entitlement will boil over in a directionless search first for the crumbs of voter fraud, then find a way to blame it on "right-wing operatives". In the end, they will end up like immature that refuse to take responsibility.

Later that day in this same dream, scantilly-clad fraulines bring me german beer and whisper in my ear that the democratic party has dissolved under it's own massive ridiculousness. 9% of democrats realize their party actually isn't operating in their own best interests and new, useful parties emerge. Not to be outdone, the fraulines setup and begin brewing beer for my visual amusement.

Josephine Hearn is a useful idiot of the first order.

I think the most exciting thing, or interesting thing, about this
poll is that two-thirds now view her health-care plan, the failure of
her '94 health-care plan, as being an asset to her.

That statement alone required mental gymnastics of the most painful kind imaginable.

I wonder that when (notice I didn't say if) St. Hillary the Hideous is sworn into office on that bitterly cold January morn, and we of the non-liberal persuasion are soon after being herded into "re-education" camps, will this brainless individual find that exciting as well?

I had a dream...

...that just before the 2008 election, global temperatures plummeted, Osama had a get-together with a Hellfire missile, and Hillary had a melt down - admitting that the whole vast Right-wing conspiracy thing was a ploy to get her psychiatrist to up her anti-psychotic medications.

But seriously, I know several Lefties who claim they would rather eat broken glass than vote for Hillary.  Should I believe them?

Proof of PC insanity: Canadians who are actually against global warming. Burrrrrrrrrrrrrr! Its cold up there!

Liberal Women all have to stick together

Liberal women never grow up from having to go to the bathroom together to discuss "what they think". Suzi Q Hearn is but an example if "Hillary is president then all women are president".

It is the same nonsense of "first woman in space, first woman doctor, first woman fighter pilot"..........as who cares when a male did it decades before. Hearn displays the typical liberal female mental anguish of being nothing until some other woman has accomplished something.

This is why liberals male and female go crazy when W is President as only when their people are in power can they delude themselves into thinking they are not miserable cowards but now winners too...........I can't be the pretty cheerleader but maybe if I let her make fun of me at least I have interaction with her and we are "friends".

Give me a Margaret Thatcher any day as she at her age is still one of the purest forms of womanhood in all their splendor who ever walked the earth. It is very comforting to know you have a woman like her around who is secure in every situation and built all with God and hard work.
Frankly I like Jeri Thompson in the same way as while she has not been PM, listening to her she is a tough woman like old Barbara Bush and Nancy Reagan are.

Those Conservatives will always be ladies and attractive for who they are and Hillary Clinton will always be a growling female dog snarling she is a woman and wants to be a man so she can have her own fleas instead of what she picks up from Bill.

Hearn is going to have her bubble burst though as Hillary as predicted is having a load of criminal evidence displayed against her. I do not care if her judge threw out the video...........there will be a judge one day working for Al Gore who will tell her she either goes away and bakes cookie standing by her man and allows Al Gore to swoop in like a vampire or Hillary will be Martha Stewart locked in a rather grey bar hotel.

PS why Hillary would loose

I just had to add in the demographics touted by Nora O and cooed over Josie and the pussycats that the reason Democrats will tank Hillary for Al Gore is one demographic Hillary looses.

This election is not about blacks as the Louisiana race proved in a Republican win with all the blacks voting Democrat.

This election is about the greedy geezers and whiney wheezers. 48% of the old folks said they will NEVER vote for Hillary. That is a mandate NO VOTE. The old people are in huge numbers in swing states and this block is the block which will tank Hillary as voters vote high when the negatives break to the 50% mark.

Al Gore is the Dem's only shot, but while he does better with the old folks..........he tanks across the board as people just do not want to vote for him.

Rudy and the Red Sox

Rudy may be doing this to curry favor with NH voters and it probably can't hurt, but as a lifelong NYer and Yankee fan,I am pulling for the
Red Sox because I always root for the American League team.It is not
unusual for fans over forty to have an allegiance to a particular
league.Rudy said he would only root against the AL if the Mets were the
NL opponent. As the former mayor of NY he had to say that. But in the
1986 Red Sox-Mets series I and many of my Yankee fan friends all wanted
Boston to prevail instead of the hometown Mets.Similarly, many of my Met fan
friends favored the hated Atlanta Braves in their two series
appearances against the Yanks for the same reason.League loyalty means
a lot to many fans, especially older ones, who grew up without
interleague play.So there's nothing wrong with Rudy pulling for the Sox.It certainly doesn't match Hillary's epiphany in 2000 when she proclaimed herself a Yankee fan

Political trekkies

This is what happens when politics is played as a game. The players treat politics differently than the rest of us. To them, it's a sport, and they think they're pros in the big leagues. It's a way to glorify their own importance. Of course, the rest of us see their gamesmanship as so much silliness, especially when they go to their 'war rooms,' craft the spin-of-the-day, and try to emulate the characters on Primary Colors. They're the political version of Trekkies.

According to the poll, the Clinton campaign manipulated public opinion to regard her embarrassing past as a positive experience. For anyone else, it's an example of crass manipulation, and shamelessly exploiting the short memory span of the American public. To the political Trekkies, they think it's a clever move in their game, and that's why it excites them. They scored a poll-touchdown. Hooray...

Right, leave it to liberals

Right, leave it to liberals to say who's conservative or not. We take care of our own, thank you very much. You can't say that about your side.

The Rocky Mountain Collegian: Illustrating Idiocy

Poll this

Consider the facts.

Yesterday the senate vote on Southwick was large enough to sustain a filibuster. The smartest woman in the world, front runner on the DNC 2008, voted to sustain the veto. She's telling the world the next presidency is hers so what is she thinking?

Why are actions such as this 'exciting'?
