NBC's Gregory: Obama's 'Ultimate Leadership Moment' Dispels GOP Criticism

Anchoring NBC News special report coverage of President Obama visiting Ground Zero on Thursday, Meet the Press host David Gregory used the opportunity to take a shot at critics of the administration: "...this [killing bin Laden] was the ultimate leadership moment for a commander in chief who in some ways had not been tested on this order. Who had been the target of criticism from Republicans..."

Gregory noted how some of the President's critics "have said that he has not shown the kind of leadership necessary to demonstrate he was capable of protecting America," adding, "despite the continuity of this administration with the previous administration's fight against terrorism, whether it's detainee policy or the surge of forces in Afghanistan." Of course, President Obama certainly did not campaign on continuity with the Bush administration's national security policy, but begrudgingly adopted it out of necessity.

Was Obama the One to Say Yes?

Submitted by Comrade Jim on Thu, 05/05/2011 - 2:51pm.

Or was it Paneta? The confusion, story changes, misstatements, and general gibberish coming out of the WH suggests that Obama is still leading from behind, not engaged, unable to make a decision, and not very aware of what is going on (except the next fundraiser).

His role in this seems to be a prop playing president on TV. Gregory who is a TV prop himself fits in this scam perfectly.

When the White House releases

Submitted by buddyc on Thu, 05/05/2011 - 3:24pm.

When the White House releases the Osama death and burial pictures will they also release the videos of Gregory going down on Obama? What a tool.

The MSM is sort of pornographic when it comes to Obama.

Submitted by Red Jeep on Thu, 05/05/2011 - 4:14pm.

Isn't it?

Maybe in their later years the MSMers will reflect on the cushy jobs they all once had prior to selling their souls to Obama and wrecking the industry that once had paid them so well.

"ultimate leadership moment?"

Submitted by Newsbubba on Thu, 05/05/2011 - 4:29pm.

After ONLY 16 hours of "sleeping on it."

This president couldn't make up his mind whether to hit the ground or not if he were in free fall from 30,000 feet.

BIG W

Submitted by Jaylouem on Thu, 05/05/2011 - 4:32pm.

Had to post this... Looking across the river to Lower Manhatten from my office in Jersey City. The construction crews positioned two cranes to form the shape of a gigantic "W"..... Awesome sight.

Honestly?

Submitted by Phryj1 on Thu, 05/05/2011 - 4:55pm.

The only thing this demonstrated about Obama is that he can occasionally pull his head out of his butt long enough to listen to people who actually know what they're doing.

Progressives seem to be completely averse to facts and logic. Apparently, reality has a conservative bias.

Life

Submitted by grammajane on Thu, 05/05/2011 - 10:11pm.

Wonder if the bias reporters on the MSM have a life besides obama? All they do day in and day out is defend every move and every word he says. They must spend day and night writing and looking for anything that is positive for their guy. What a sad way to live,

One single injection is apparently all it takes...

Submitted by Chris Norman on Thu, 05/05/2011 - 10:36pm.

Killing bin Laden is the "wonder drug" the media has been hoping for that they believe will inoculate Obama against the diagnosis by the American voters that he suffers from the politically fatal disease of liberalindecisiveweakenitis.

Obama Does Something Right!

Submitted by Avitar on Thu, 05/05/2011 - 10:59pm.

Obama bungles again the next day.
The reporting needed to echo that theme. President Obama did something very right mostly on the advice of Leon Panetta. He could have followed up by clean house by firing Eric Holder who tried to steer him so wrong but instead became concerned with the feelings of some of the worst people in the world.

If this is Obama's ultimate leadership moment...

Submitted by Bill Brasky on Thu, 05/05/2011 - 11:00pm.

... Then we are in more trouble than we thought. I've been watching the MSM convulsions of over the top praise for Obama simply doing what he HAD to do. What the hell else could he have done? This was the easiest decision ANY president would have to make. What was there to think about? (although I have now heard that Obama dithered for 16 hours after being told that bin Laden was in the house) Anyway, David Gregory is one of the bigger jack-ass-wipes of the liberal media so what else should we expect?
