MSNBC's Ratigan Decries Budget for 'Clinton-Lewinsky Blowjob Investigation'

On his Wednesday 4PM ET show on MSNBC, host Dylan Ratigan denounced the fact that the recent Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission (FCIC), convened to detail the causes of the 2008 economic collapse, only had a budget of $8 million, while back in 1998, the "Clinton-Lewinsky blowjob investigation" had a $40 million budget. He was apparently referring to special prosecutor Ken Starr investigating perjury charges against the former president.

The report from the FCIC was highly partisan, with the six Democrats on the commission claiming that primary reason for the financial crisis was the lack of government regulation in the private sector. As a result, the four Republican commissioner refused to sign on to the findings and released their own dissenting report.

As Alex Weprin pointed out on MediaBistro.com's TVNewser blog, Ratigan's comment on Wednesday was not the first time the term "blowjob" was featured in MSNBC news coverage: "Way back in 2009, a guest on David Shuster‘s MSNBC program referred to the investigation of former President Bill Clinton's affair with Monica Lewinsky thusly: 'And your idea is that after investigating Bill Clinton for a blowjob for like five years, we shouldn’t investigate the huge, grossly illegal things that were done under the past administration.'" Shuster later apologized for the guest's use of the word.

It seems that Liberals can't connect the fact that Clinton LIED under oath to a Federal Grand Jury more than once.  If anyone else had done that they would be in jail, but not Slick Willie.

Don't forget that he and Vernon Jordan also suborned perjury.  I think that's what cost him his law license in Arkansas.

Rat--igan

How old is this guy? When I see his picture, he appears to be middle aged. Yet he uses that language on national t.v.? Shows how low the media has gotten. A prime example of immature, low-life "liberalism". The "liberals" continue to drag this nation into the gutter. Then again, look what is sitting in the White House-- an incompetent, former(?) druggy liar who has spit on our allies and will sit back as communism and theocratic dictatoships continue their march to destroy liberty throughout the world.

NEVER,NEVER trust a "liberal" ( progressive)

The moron can't read!

I used to think that he kept pausing for effect during his show, but I've come to the conclusion that he pauses when he hits the end of a line on his prompter, then has to figure out he needs to look left again to get to the next line.

His brain circuits operate at a very slow rate, apparently.

Besides, if he were up-to-date he would realize that it is redundant to say Clinton-Lewinski and "blow job" in the same phrase.

Look at what they spent to

Submitted by Hunter12 on Thu, 02/03/2011 - 1:24pm.

Look at what they spent to jail Scooter, who's only crime was apparently not taking sufficient notes on a non-issue to be able to reference it well enough for the special prosecutor.  Fitzgerald knew while he was questioning Libby that the source of the leak on Plame was Richard Armitage.

From MSNBC:

Libby was convicted of one count of obstruction, two counts of perjury and one count of lying to the FBI about how he learned Plame’s identity and whom he told. Prosecutors said he learned about Plame from Cheney and others, discussed her name with reporters and, fearing prosecution, made up a story to make those discussions seem innocuous.

From the Washington Post:

The leak of information about an undercover CIA employee that provoked a special prosecutor's investigation of senior White House officials came from then-Deputy Secretary of State Richard L. Armitage, according to a former Armitage colleague at the department.

Armitage told newspaper columnist Robert D. Novak in the summer of 2003 that Valerie Plame, the wife of a prominent critic of the Iraq war, worked for the CIA, the colleague said. In October of that year, Armitage admitted to senior State Department officials that he had made the remark, which was based on a classified report he had read.

So Fitzgerald knew Armitage was the source of the leak, but still went after Libby.
