NBC Suits Won't Comment to MSNBC 'News Anchor' Rachel Maddow re: Brian Williams Suspension

Leaving aside that the jokes just write themselves, this is pretty astounding stuff when you think about it. On tonight's Rachel Maddow Show, the host informed viewers that the suits at NBC News were refusing to answer inquiries from Maddow staffers about the network's decision to suspend Nightly News anchor Brian Williams for six months. At 30 Rock, the left hand won't let the far-left hand know what it's doing.

As Josh Feldman of Mediaite noted

Maddow explained how the whole corporate umbrella thing works before revealing to viewers, “No, NBC News will not make anyone available to discuss this story with us on the air.”

And it was clear this really bothered Maddow:

“You’d think that if they’re going to talk to anybody about this, we might reasonably get a leg up on getting interviews with any NBC News executives to explain this decision if only because we’re right down the hall.”

That must really hurt Maddow, whom MSNBC puts forward as a straight-news "anchor."
