Energy IG Tells Congress the Department Was 'Ill-equipped' to Distribute Stimulus Cash; WaPo Buries on A19
Energy Department Inspector General Gregory Friedman testified before a congressional committee yesterday that the department was "ill-equipped to quickly distribute billions of dollars in economic stimulus funding," reported the Washington Post's Ed O'Keefe in the November 3 paper.
"Friedman's testimony was meant to summarize more than 100 investigations conducted by his office into Energy's stimulus spending. The probes have recovered $2.3 million in fraudulently obtained money and sparked five criminal prosecutions," O'Keefe noted in his 12-paragraph story, which was buried on page A19 of the Post with the bland headline "Energy Dept. called ill-suited to loan project."
"Friedman also criticized the administration for touting the existence of 'shovel-ready' projects" that did not exist, noted O'Keefe.

of giving away, loaning or guaranteeing loans of money to anyone for any reason. That includes foreign aid, the U.N., etc. Need a loan? Go to a bank. Can't get a loan? Get 2 or 3 jobs and save for what you need.
The federal gov't should collect a modest flat tax from every working person to provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare (with STRICT limitations) and ensure the blessings of liberty for our nation.
Individual states should be collecting and spending the lion's share of taxes. Our money should stay in our states, providing services and jobs locally. We are seeing the results of states having to enforce immigration law, going broke over entitlements and pensions. Let each state set their own standards for providing services. People will flock to the states that provide the services that they require for the least amount of taxes. They will gravitate to where the best schools are, the death penalty has an express lane, illegal aliens are forbidden jobs and entitlements and the laws are enforced equally.
No one entity should be collecting taxes and giving them to another entity. Period.
What? A federal agency too incompetent to even pass out cash?

LOL - Why am I not surprised?
And I'm guessing Friedman will find himself unemployed in the very near future, as dissing the Dear Ruler is strictly verboten.
