NB Publisher Bozell Debates Liberal Roland Martin on CNN Regarding Cain Allegations

By NB Staff | November 02, 2011 | 09:53

A  A

NewsBusters publisher and Media Research Center debated liberal CNN contributor Roland Martin on the November 1 John King USA regarding the media's coverage of anonymous 15-year-old sexual harassment allegations against Herman Cain.

"What's the accusation?!" Bozell demanded, noting the media's frenzy over what amounts to incredibly vague, anonymously-sourced accusations from 15 years ago.

"What's he being accused of?" Bozell asked. "None of us know, and we're talking about this for 36 hours?! That's a lynching." Watch the full segment in the video embed below the page break:

A little off topic, but Roland here, disparages all critics of NYC's new sex-ed agenda as "crazies". That's mild compared to some of the ad-hominems he used in that opinion (hit) piece.

That's one way to lose an argument, Roland (and Martin Laugh-In -- Oops! I just dated myself!). Sure enough, it failed to convince me. Quite the opposite, actually. I've lost all measure of respect for him, if I had any to begin with.

I can't watch the video now, but I have every confidence that Mr. Bozell put Roland (and Martin Laugh-In) in his place.

PS:. Yes, I know the show's titile is actually "ROWAN and Martin's Laugh-In", but the word play was too irrisistable to pass on!

A set up

Submitted by Gat New York on Wed, 11/02/2011 - 10:48am.

Brent was on point and didn't waiver.

With the statement issued by one fo the woman's attorney, Joel P. Bennett, I am certain that this entire situation was a set up. What were the motives? For Obama supporters it was the political assasination of Herman Cain. For the attorney and his client it was MONEY.

Politico releases a story about allegations of sexual harassment from 12 years ago. Where did they get the information from since they say have have specifics? It was either from someone inside the National Restaurant Association (who generally lean GOP) or it was from one of the accusers.

The Politico article then become a media feeding frenzy forcing Cain to respond specifically and he does so without violating the terms of the confidentiality agreement (Lisa Weil of Fox is right and Mark Toobin of CNN is dead wrong). Cain never mentions who the woman is and no one would even have a hint who it might be.

Suddenly, and on cue, Politico parent company, Washington Post publishes a statement from one of the accuser's attorney, Joel P. Bennett, claiming that Cain breached that confidentiality agreement (which he did not) and demands that NRA release his client from the agreement so that she can air her side.

We now learn from her attorney that she is married and works for the Federal government. To date, this issue cannot have affected her since no one knows who she is.

So why risk the exposure? She was pursuaded by the political assassins and her ambulence-chasing attorney that she can make a lot of money by using this situation, or she had figured that out herself before Politico ever knew anything.

Why risk exposure?

You answered your own question (I know, it was rhetorical). Follow the money. Always.

I hope the NRA tells her to keep quiet or risk a lawsuit. For restitution of her payoff, and for damages as well.

Submitted by Gat New York on Wed, 11/02/2011 - 11:55am.

This attorney (and the Washington Post) is simply waiting for the NRA to answer. Whichever it is the response will be the same. This woman will go on the record with her name and these allegations. For $35,000 it will not be worth it for the NRA to go to court and claim the severance.

As I said this was a set-up from the outset by a fortune-seeking woman together with a political outfit (the Obama campaign) who have a long history of unearthing sealed legal cases to be used for political assasination (see Obama's U.S. Senate primary and general election campaigns).

The fact that this woman - who up to this point has all her privacy - has been persuaded to go for the MONEY reveals just how unethical and unstable she is.

Debate advice - slam back with very good answers

Submitted by MaximusBraveheart on Wed, 11/02/2011 - 12:05pm.

Easier said than done, I know, but I'll bring it up: Brent did not come off as well on this segment IMO (vs. normal brilliant job). Angry looking (justified) and not at ease (ear thing causing problems). Liked the "what's the charge" points.

Also, very good point about the race aspect as to how liberals go after black conservatives. The other guys say what about the hate for Sharpton and Jackson (?), but no response was given back. Here is my hint, say MEDIA hate & attack on black conservatives! What MSM hate attacks are on Sharpton & Jackson? There are none! THEY promote Sharpton & Jackson & gave a pass on very bad stories they could still run now.

I would also fight back that UNJUST character assination CERTAINLY IS a form of lynching! When there is NO evidence, not even a specific charge, it is clearly meant to harm this black conservative (because being a black conservative is particularly treasonous in their MINDS.) So RACE IS indeed a factor & they ARE indeed trying to tighten a "noose" to ensare and hang him with. Is there really any question on this? NO!

Brent, you are absolutely correct on asking them to define the charge. But I think you dropped the ball when you replied that black conservatives are harassed more than white conservatives or black liberals.

It's absolutely true of course, and you have several examples on this site to back it up. Those specific examples should have been thrown into their faces, and let them try to explain why the black conservative was handled differently than the black liberals. simply saying it as fact wasn't enough. I know there's only so much time. It needs to be told when on CNN, not for the idiot talking head's sake but for the viewers who think Fox News is just a right wing crazy network and never expose themselves enough to other opinions.

John King: Corrupt tool of the Left

Submitted by Ted Clarke on Wed, 11/02/2011 - 12:41pm.

JOHN KING: This crisis could impact that [Cain's position as a leading Republican contender] in part because Cain's explanations have been inconsistent, in some cases, contradictory. At first, for example, he said he was not aware of any financial settlements with the two accusers....

A clip is shown of Mr. Cain clearly stating that he was not aware of any settlements.

JOHN KING: ....Within hours, though, he was discussing one of the cases, including the settlement, in great detail.

A second clip -- one that presumably provides an example of Cain contradicting himself -- makes no reference, at all, to anything in the first clip. King's "power of suggestion" simply creates the illusion that Cain had changed his story.

John King is like a transgendered person who FEELS like a man but is actually a woman. He FEELS like a journalist but he is actually a slimy, disgusting Leftist fraud.

...Jeffery Toobin, Robin Meade of HLN and John King before getting to Brent? - about 7 minutes of a non-stop bias attack against Mr. Cain. Brent clearly won the debate because he spoke with clarity that was backed by facts. You may have notice that Toobin relied solely upon his opinion while attempting to equate opinion as factual details of the settlements. BTW, Brent might be accused of manslaughter after slaughtering Roland Martin's extreme leftist and myopic views on Cain and conservatives.

Also, I would like to mention the coverage that The Post has placed on slandering Mr. Cain over the past 36 hours.

Herman Cain’s accuser wants to tell her side of story, lawyer says - Wednesday, November 2, 2011http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/lawyer-cain-accuser-wants-to-talk-but-is-barred-by-agreement/2011/11/01/gIQA0bOIdM_story.html

This article above was authored by Sandhya Somashekhar and James V. Grimaldi and "Staff writers, including Chris Cillizza, Krissah Thompson, Brady Dennis and Felicia Sonmez and staff researcher Lucy Shackelford who contributed to the report."

Yesterday's story on Cain (see below), the authors were Philip Rucker and Nia-Malika Henderson and "Staff writers Sandhya Somashekhar, Brady Dennis, Krissah Thompson, Perry Bacon Jr., Karen Tumulty and Michael S. Rosenwald; staff writer Laura Vozzella in McDonough, Ga.; and news researcher Lucy Shackelford contributed to the report."

Herman Cain denies ever sexually harassing anyone, calls allegations ‘totally false’ - Tuesday, November 1, 2011 http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/herman-cain-declined-to-address-a....

It would be nice if The Post put the numerous journalists and staff writers to work on a topic like "Fast and Furious," but that's fantasy land for the lefty newspaper.

Roland Martin mentions attacks on Rev(s) Jackson and Sharpton

Submitted by Gary Hall on Wed, 11/02/2011 - 1:35pm.

At the very tail end of this video, Roland Martin mentions attacks on Rev(s) Jackson and Sharpton "by conservatives."

OK - that's fair.

However, the comparison here is in the context of how our national MSM handles such issues. Did the same apply to candidate and President Obama? When did the national MSM go after Jackson or Sharpton?

The national MSM is out to destroy Herman Cain. It was predicted as soon as his poll numbers began to rise - as the MSM ruses to the forefront to shift their attacks to whoever is at the head of the pack, or rising in the polls. Before that it was Rick Perry. Before that it was Michelle Bachmann. Before that it was the preemptive strikes against Romney and Gingrich. If Cain is damaged, and one of the others begins to rise again, this same MSM will instantly be prepared to shift the attacks there.

While the MSM may occasionally find itself being backed into a corner putting out news reports on scandals on the left (Weiner - Clinton), it is few and far between that they dig in with such veracity as we see here - and in past issues involving Republicans  - be they black or white - be there an actual story, or not. Besides, today - Corzine is not a Democrat - just a 1%.

Here's another one out there the national MSM is skipping, and I intend not to attempt to equate it to Abu Ghriab. The court martial trial has begun in the case of the US soldier involved in the "kill squads," in Afghanistan. The details are horrid. This soldier has already been convicted and sentenced to 24 years. Here's one account of the current news: U.S. soldier fights Afghan ‘kill squad’ court martial

Sure, one can find evidence that the news has appeared, peppered here and there in the national media - but there's a big difference; it's not common knowledge - there will be no national media shrill challenging the President of the United States, or the Defense Secretary, etc.

Why? Well, the president is a Democrat, first. And to top it off, he's an untouchable black president.

Obama won't even have to write in his memoirs about how shocked he was to see the pictures of the body parts cut off for war trophies. I mean does he even know about it?

Besides, Obama already wrote his memoir.

Martin's body language

Submitted by Alpha Tango on Wed, 11/02/2011 - 3:15pm.

Roland Martin's uncomfortable laughing with very animated head movements make him appear to be lying. He hates black conservatives more than he hates white conservatives. He is a leftist racist propaganda writer and that is all. John King has the same mental affliction as Martin.

Lately, liberalism is about class warfare, punishing successful people by taxing them more, throwing more money at programs proven to be failures, and killing more, mostly black, babies.

As for Herman Cain:
There are only a few nationally known black conservatives in America. They are personally attacked daily by the main stream media and liberals of all races. They are called stupid or Uncle Toms or sell-outs to their race. It is good to see another black man who is smart enough to see through the fraud and brave enough to talk about it. Almost all liberals are racists. Not surprisingly, black liberals are racist against their own race when a black man does not pledge his undying loyalty to liberalism.

The conservative women of days gone by in America

Submitted by lrgon on Wed, 11/02/2011 - 9:03pm.

spoke of a"man's world" and a place where women should not try to enter into or expect to pay the price. Well that advice of traditionally conservative women was not heeded. The loud mouths like Emma Goldman, Susan B. Anthony and Planned Parenthood Founder and radical eugenics supporter Margret Sanger dominated the women's clubs with talk of "feminist" equality and "liberation." But what these feminists were really advocating was an anti-family agenda and they contributed greatly to the misery of women.

These radical feminists like sanger and Goldman birthed the "liberation" of abortion and "equality." It never entered the mind of the feminists of that era that they were already superior to men so why bring themselves down to their level!

The work place today in the blue collar and corporate world is a never ending spiral of leachery and infidelity by both sexes and "feminism" has it fingerprints all over that picture.

Feminists want to live in a man's world but don't know how to handle it when weak men make lewd or sexually suggestive comments. If you are going to "dress to kill" in the workplace expect that you will.

The genie is out of the bottle and it won't be put back in anytime soon when once again women and men respect each others' worlds. I expect it never will but remember that America was headed in the right direction until the devil's conspiracy against the family took hold and conned the ladies into taking a bite out of the "equality" apple.

"Big mouth don't make a big man." ---Wil Andersen

The feminist notion that "well-behaved women rarely make history" is a full of baloney as history is full of examples of well- behaved women changing the course of history. The world has no better example of a humble, loving woman; suffering without complaint than the Mother of God. In her quiet obedience she not only made history but changed it.

Luke 1:26-38
New International Version (NIV)
God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin’s name was Mary.

The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.”

“Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High.

“How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?”

The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God.

"I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her.
