WaPo Offers Puffy Profile on Leggy MSNBC Contributor Krystal Ball

The Washington Post would have you know that Fox News hasn't cornered the market on political analysts who are easy on the eyes.

In his Metro section front-pager today-- "Leaping from scandal to punditry: Racy photos pushed Va. candidate Krystal Ball into commentary"* -- reporter Ben Pershing offered Post readers a puffy profile on the 29-year-old one-time Democratic candidate for Virginia's 1st District House seat.

Ball's long-shot campaign seized national media attention, Pershing reminded readers, after some risque photos from a costume party came to light.

For its part, the Post opted to offer readers a somewhat sultry photo of Ball (embedded below) to accompany the story on the jump page, complete with a caption that notes that Ball credits "the racy photos that emerged during her campaign last year" with getting her "'in the loop' for television commentary."

Pershing waited until the 23rd paragraph to admit that, despite being tagged often on-air as a "Democratic strategist" that Ball has not now nor has she ever "advised, been employed by or volunteered for any other campaign or elected official," although she certainly "has some clear expertise on at least one topic -- damage control."

*The online edition has a different headline: "Krystal Ball: From scandal star to professional pundit."

And shes not even amongst the top good looking ladies on there-but I guess on MessLSD she takes the prize-then again, look at her competition, lol!

...is trying to get a date with her? Seriously, 20-plug paragraphs on this girl?

She's not all that much to begin with. Throw in a liberal mind and it's a nonstarter. Conservative women are SO much more attractive.

She'll hate Fox pretty soon

Submitted by MCLIJazz on Mon, 09/12/2011 - 2:32pm.

There goes another once-in-a-while Red Eye guest that I'll never see again (because I don't watch MSNBC).  I guarantee she will turn into a fervent Fox hater before long.  It's like an unwritten guideline at MSNBC.  Fmr. Gov. Ed Rendell and Martin Bashir didn't seem to hate Fox (or the Right) until they signed up as an analyst and host, respectively.

Hey, MSNBC just used that exact same headline last month to announce the hiring of Al Sharpton. They're not very creative over there.

(It's probably just me, but I'm not seeing the "sultry" in that photo. Maybe she took sultry lessons from Mooch, cause all I'm seeing is bored and pissed-off.)

Submitted by deerjerkydave on Mon, 09/12/2011 - 3:25pm.

MSNBC is being sexist by attempting to put attractive women on its programs. Didn't the feminist movement teach them anything? Honestly, do liberals have any core principles? ;)

The girl can't help it ...

Submitted by Newsbubba on Mon, 09/12/2011 - 3:56pm.

... if she has great legs and is attractive.

She can help being a liberal and a democrat, however.

Her parents should have been locked up for giving her that name.  I'm betting that they were named Harry and Ophelia, and just wanted to get even with somebody.

The latest offering from Ben and Jerry's is named Schwetty Balls.  I wonder if it is named after the reaction Krystal causes on the Reverend Al.

The Ideal Candidate for Two Reasons

Submitted by RickZ on Mon, 09/12/2011 - 6:38pm.

Clearly, Ms. Ball is the Ideal Candidate for public office:

1 - The only way out of the mess we're in is to use a Crystal Ball

2 - If we can't put the Legislature in Good Shape,
. . . . . . then at least we can
. . . Put a Good Shape in the Legislature.

Krystal Ball, sounds like the name of a porn actress....

Submitted by gruyere cheese on Mon, 09/12/2011 - 8:19pm.

Sorry, no offense to porn actresses -- just trying to make a point. This woman expects to be taken seriosly whe she opens her mouth an offers political commentary on TV? Then again, MessNBC has Mika, and so Fox News needs their own dumb bimbo.

This is an awful picture of her, she is actually quite attractive.

However, be sure to hit the mute button before she speaks. She is as dumb as a bag of hair. Listening to her speak for any length of time is functionally equivalent to having a lobotomy.
