Mediaite's Christopher Melodramatic Over Obama Speech: 'Boehner Should Resign'
If we gave out a prize for the media personality who was the biggest drama queen over the non-scandal regarding the disagreement about when President Obama should address a joint session of Congress, I'd nominate Mediaite's Tommy Christopher, who yesterday insisted that "Speaker John Boehner Should Resign For His Unprecedented Insult to the President":
Every American who has an appropriate respect for the office of the presidency should demand that John Boehner resign, and every legislator should amplify that demand. The problems facing this country are too great to be left in the hands of someone with such contempt for its highest office.
Christopher also groused that the media have been unbiased in their coverage of the row:
The media, meanwhile, ought to abandon its fetish foe [sic] false objectivity, and recognize the facts. All parties agree the President gave the Speaker sufficient notice, and I cannot think of another president in history whom the media would suggest should have been preempted by a routine political debate, certainly not in a time of national crisis. The media is complicit in the insult through its failure to recognize this.

only the highest political prize

I guess this fellow missed the Constitutional class where it is explained that our government is composed of three co-equal branches of government. The President is not the highest office in the land. It is the most visible and solitary but the powers of the President are subject to scrutiny by the other two branches.
Obama was not insulted by Boehners refusal of obama's request any more than Boehnor would be insulted if he was denied the use of the Whitehouse Rose Garden for a speech.
The real reason for obama needing the congress as an audience is because he needs the wild cheering and standing ovation interruptions by his fellow dems as a boost to his speech.
He needs to grow up.

Obama attempted a cheap political trick by not following established protocol to disrupt the Republican debate. If the shoe had been on the other foot, little Tommy would saying the Democrats were "brave" to block a similar address of a Republican president.
Until Tommy grows up, he should not be allowed in the room with the adults and left up in his room with his toys.

[...]" it grieves me so
To see you in such pain
I wish there was something I could do
To make you smile again
I said I appreciate that
And would you please explain
About the fifty ways"
"You Just slip out the back, Jack
Make a new plan, Stan
You don't need to be coy, Roy
Just get yourself free
Hop on the bus, Gus
You don't need to discuss much
Just drop off the key, Lee
And get yourself free"
Why can't they

Why can't they look into the reasons Boehner suggested another night? It is logical, but they can't get past the surface facts of the date change. What has happened to journalism!
Pick one

Either Obama tried to 'one up' the Republicans or he is too stupid to be able to read a calendar.
Take your pick.
How about....

He stupidly tried to one up the GOP.
At this stage, I'm thinking and even hoping this is the beginning of his downfall and he's already lost his chance to leave gracefully(by his pursuing a series of blah-blah speeches). I bet he won't even last before election and he'll leave office in disgrace.
His continuing on the path that he's taking will only lead to destruction and despair, including him while marie moochelle antoinette continues to rack up the vacation bills.
There's no where else to go but down.

If that is the case.

If that is the case, then the majority of elected Democrats should have resigned from 2001-2009 for their treatment of President Bush. Could we make their resignations retroactive?
Oh, for crying out loud!!

This is the 112th congress and 44th president. To think that there has never been a congress and president who wanted a joint session speech before and was turn down on the time he wanted is unlikely. In times of old they did not meet year round due to there was not a thing called an airplane. When congress was in they had very little time to do anything and if the President wanted to talk he needed to be put on the schedule. Not announce when he wants and if that time is not available the speaker resigns even if same party. Even if the House is the second most secure area in the world after the WH it still has to be check again.
I thought Tip O'Neill refused Reagan several times?

Another reason Obama wants to give a speech in front of a joint session of congress is so he can excoriate the republicans and they have to sit there and take it. Remember how he did that to the Spreme Court Justices and to Paul Ryan. It is his modus operandi.
the match goes to Ron Paul

Boehner played the role of ball shag.
The pompous Spkr.of the House was going to concede the game to Obama until the Texas congressman stepped up to demand a recorded vote.
Paul wanted the voters to see which GOP Members of Congress would side with Obama and which would side with the GOP debate over at the Reagan Library. Obama wanted to take viewers away from the RR Library and Paul blocked Obama's arrogant move to go to his friend in the House (Boehner) to give him what he wanted. Boehner had no choice but to say no to the POTUS since the vote approving this Joint Session speech usually only required a "unanimous consent" unrecorded voice vote. Paul's demand for a recorded vote put the kibosh on that and Obama was forced to reschedule.
