Time's Sorensen: Obama Campaign Jumps the Shark with Birth Certificate T-Shirt
Even some liberal journalists are rolling their eyes at the Obama campaign's dopey move to sell campaign merchandise emblazoned with the president's birth certificate.
Time's Adam Sorensen scoffed that the "Birtherism Death Watch [Has] Jumped the Shark" in a May 18 Swampland blog post:
The Obama campaign is sending around e-mails hocking birth certificate merch and Esquire is running bad satire on Jerome Corsi.

These tee-shirts are total Alinsky. Notice, there has been no forensic examination of this guy's "vital records". This is an attempt to paint anybody who doubts this liar as a "birther". How bout this Obama. We pick 3 forensic scientists to visit the Department of Health in Hawaii and inspect your certificate?? After all, it was copied out of a book right? They can look at the microfiche etc. Don't hold your breath America.

I just typed out a long comment that says basically what your comment does. The press is asleep at the wheel here. They are supposed to skeptics, but the accept whatever Obama says as truth without any attempt at verification.
Obama's birthplace is not the issue here. The fact that he went two years without produce a shred of evidence and anyone who even questioned it was accused of being a conspiratorial nut job or racist proves that the media has no interest in vetting the president.
Could you imagine if Bush had done something like this? Could you imagine if Bush had "sealed" his records? Could you imagine the endless investigations if there were rumors that Bush had a Social Security Card from a state other than the one he was born in? The investigations were so fierce into Bush's National Guard records that even fake stories were represented as true. "Fake but accurate" became the standard the media followed. If the story matched what you already believed, it is worthy of reporting, even if it is proven beyond a shadow of a doubt to be false.
