In Wake of Abortion Clinic Arrests, Pa. Governor Fires State Workers, Announces New Regulations; Networks Ignore Development

Earlier this week Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett  fired state workers whom he believes should have taken decisive action to shutter abortionist Kermit Gosnell's Philadelphia abortion clinic. You may recall that Gosnell was arrested in mid-January for murdering newborn babies. Authorities in Philadelphia also detailed for reporters instances of malpractice as well as the unsanitary working conditions at Gosnell's abortion mill.

At the time, the mainstream media mostly ignored the development, although the January 19 CBS "Evening News" devoted a full story to the shocking development.

Now it seems the national media are largely failing to do any followup on the story.

A search of Nexis found no mention on ABC, CBS, or NBC of  the firings or of new regulations Gov. Corbett announced Tuesday aimed at preventing what happened at Gosnell's clinic to happen anywhere in the Keystone State again.

Reported the York [Pa.] Dispatch yesterday:

After a review of the 261-page report, Corbett on Tuesday unveiled changes that include a requirement that regulators make random and unannounced visits to clinics, in addition to a now-mandated yearly inspection.

Facilities found to have deficiencies will be required to have a plan of correction with 10 days or will risk immediate suspension, and clinics that fail to report a serious incident could face fines of up to $1,000 a day, Corbett said during the press conference.

The inspections: Inspectors will come from the state's Division of Acute and Ambulatory Care, which is also responsible for inspecting Pennsylvania's hospitals and out-patient surgery facilities. Additionally, registered nurses from the Department of Health will be trained to inspect abortion facilities for quality assurance and to enforce regulations.

A search of Nexis found that the New York Times covered this development in its February 16 paper with a 243-word item on page A15 and that yesterday's Washington Post ran a brief three-paragraph AP item on page A2. The Los Angeles Times failed to note the firings or new regulations.

Stop George Soros

Comments

→ Dr. Cuddy

Submitted by Cool Arrow on Thu, 02/17/2011 - 12:38pm.

I saw Dr. Cuddy from "House" on that Soros supported back-alley abortion commercial, and noticed right away that the hallway she was walking down was likely cleaner than the building that entertained Dr. Gosner's government-supported slaughterhouse.

I can only suggest that George Soros, if he is again interested in participating in a holocaust, is financially capable of funding them all by himself.

But this time, Soros can get his hands really dirty.

Maybe the way Phil Kline is

Maybe the way Phil Kline is being attacked in Kanas scared state workers in Pennsylvania into knowing what was good for them.

The media are actively spiking the story

Submitted by c5then on Thu, 02/17/2011 - 1:03pm.

They do not want anything to put the on-demand killing of babies by their mothers in jeopardy. Weren't we all promised that this stuff only happens in the "back alley" abortions and that if it was legalized we'd never have to worry again?

Abortion should only be legal when the life of the mother and the life of the baby are in jeopardy and it is before the 8th month of pregnancy (babies can survive in an incubator after the 30th week with little or minimal health problems). The above criteria would allow probably less then 10 abortions in the country per year.

Abortion

Submitted by iveseenitall on Thu, 02/17/2011 - 1:19pm.

Murderers like Gosnell are the logical result of Roe vs. Wade. Then again, as Barry himself has has said, "You wouldn't want to punish them ( young women) with a baby". Disgusting!

NEVER,NEVER trust a "liberal" ( progressive)

Imagine the responce

Submitted by CobraMan on Thu, 02/17/2011 - 1:24pm.

Imagine the media's response if this was about a privately (or publicly) owned hospital or clinic who's illegal and unsanitary policies and procedure were harming people.  We'd be bombarded with this day in and day out for weeks, just as we have in the past. But here, in this instance, since it interferes with the "abortion is safe" message, nay is the word

The Citizens of each State shall be entitled to all Privileges and Immunities of Citizens in the several States. The US Constitution

Unless you're a fetus. The US Supreme Court

Or Anwar al-Awlaki.

Computer News

Spiking of stories that doesn't fit the MSM templates will result in people getting almost all their news from the computer.

I get 95% of my news from the computer now.

Gee, maybe an organization like Newsbusters should have a daily half hour news show available on its website. How expensive could it be with a camcorder and a news reader? Possible title: The Daily Unreported News.

Good on Tom Corbett!

I enjoyed reading his outer space adventures when I was a youngster, and it's refreshing to see him clean up this mess in Pennsylvanic.

Liberal Beliefs

Submitted by m1xram on Thu, 02/17/2011 - 6:05pm.

Liberals believe that it is OK to murder innocents, aka abortion, and let murderers go free, aka the death penalty. The MSM supports this immorality. Why would they ever shine a light on their own evil practices? They don't even see their actions as evil. How can this be?

Put yourself in their shoes. Assume there is no God and that you are smarter than God. Whatever you decide is completely appropriate. You are the elite and anyone who disagrees with you must be stupid. There you have it.

The opposite of Left is Freedom.

Request

Ken:

Could you please edit your post to identify the political party of Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett.  Thank you.

Gosnell was arrested for the death of one patient following a "botched" abortion and the murder of seven newborns.
