Bozell, Hannity Address MSM's Makeover of Obama as Centrist and Reaganesque, Continued War on Tea Party Movement

By NB Staff | January 28, 2011 | 12:05

A  A

"Can you hear the White House communications department giggling right now? Because they're saying this has succeeded beyond our wildest dreams."

That's how NewsBusters publisher and Media Reseearch Center (MRC) founder Brent Bozell responded on Thursday night's "Hannity" to a montage of mainstream media analysts insisting President Obama is shifting to the center politically.

[Embedded video attached after the page break; Click here for MP3 audio]

Yes, Obama's "rhetoric was toned down" in Tuesday's State of the Union, Bozell conceded, but that's because the president "needs to give that perception that he's not as far left as he is," while the "programs are the same," a laundry list of "more and more spending."

Also addressed during the January 27 program's "Media Mash" segment was the media's attempt to create friction between the Republican Party and Tea Party activists:

BRENT BOZELL: Sean, this proves either how little they know, how naive the media are about the Tea Party, or how dishonest they are. You can't have it another way. Look, how can you have a chasm within the Republican Party when the Tea Party movement is not part of the Republican Party? They've made that point abundantly clear from the very beginning. They are an independent movement outside the political parties.

Bottom line, from Luntz's focus group

where can I find a link to Luntz's group?

Submitted by Lipton on Fri, 01/28/2011 - 12:22pm.

CBS had some propaganda focus group saying that 92% of their poll supported Obama's speech.  this sort of reminded me of Saddam Hussein's election results way back.  it is so hard to believe that I can't understand why CBS wasn't embarrased to air those results.

SEE? I'm just like him....and him.....and him....

Submitted by almostacowboy on Fri, 01/28/2011 - 12:55pm.

It must be extremely difficult for Dear Leader; an entire life-time searching for someone to be. With the exception of his parents, the man-boy has had a fairy-tale life, yet he still can't be himself. Not only does he not know who is is, but since he was abandoned by both his father and his mother, he thinks himself "un-loveable"; a view with which I agree from a political aspect.

Meanwhile, he continues to attach himself to past Presidents  hoping that the American people will find something - anything - similar in him that we can like in order that his "legacy" be considered a positive one.

Unfortunately for him (fortunately for us), no one outside the Lame Stream Media and the far-left progressives believe the Ayers' version, the FDR version, the Lincoln version, nor the most unbelievable of all, the Reagan version.

Why does William Fong come to mind?

The fairy tales (and in Boy

Submitted by killa37 on Fri, 01/28/2011 - 12:36pm.

The fairy tales (and in Boy Blunder's case, that is a literal description) continue to be fabricated by the Make-Believe Media. It used to work a lot of the time for them, but I think that people have been getting wise to their BS................including a lot of people who might have believed them in the past..........

I don't think they've come to

Submitted by Hunter12 on Fri, 01/28/2011 - 1:02pm.

I don't think they've come to the realization yet, and that fact alone shows how clueless they are, but the MSM, the talking heads and publications like the NYT and Time magazine, have squandered the trust that giants like Murrow, Cronkite, Brinkley, and others built up in the public eye over time.  Quite frankly, I don't even bother to watch them anymore, because I know it's not news.  It's opinion, and it's uneducated parrotted talking point of opinion to sway the stupid to a line of thinking.  We had years and years of "Bush Bad" hate speech.  As recently as three years ago, a tenth of a percent increase in unemployment was a harbinger of economic collapse and proof of the need to shift the country to the left and into the hands of progressives.  Today, after only three years of Progressive control, we get full 1 or two point increases and the news is unexpected.  The heads can't seem to explain it, but the average person on the street can tell them in a heartbeat what's going on.  The small business owners are hanging on to their money instead of investing in themselves through business expansion becasue they made need those savings to hang onto what business they already have when faced with the uncertainty of all the legislation liberals have crammed down our throats in the last three years.  We've heard Lauer and Couric report that Republicans are bad people because they are against the poor sharing in that beacon of the American dream, home-ownership and then they have the nerve to report that the blame for the economic crisis can be shared equally across the political spectrum, because no one would say no to bad home loan decisions.  The group of people who still believe and tune into the nightly news and buy the papers and magazines is shrinking day by day, as they literally die off.  Most of us seeking the truth are out there are looking for ourselves, using sites like this as starting point in our search for the news and what's going on in America nad around the world.  That's what's driving the calls you hear for control of the internet and the fairness doctrine.  If the FCC passed something like that does anyone really think they'd get a seat next to Katey on CBS and a chance to rebut her idiocy nightly?  This is the left trying to control the conversation, because they can't win through a true exchange of ideas.  Their plans for how a society should function have failed everywhere they've been tried throughout history.

I diagree with Brent on one issue

Submitted by gopcongress on Fri, 01/28/2011 - 1:33pm.

Actually, not so much a disagreement as a clarification. The fact is that the Tea Party may not be part of the GOP "Big Tent" agenda. That part I do agree with Brent. But the Tea Party, BY ITSELF, cannot win elections. At this point, it has to be tied to one of the two major parties to have impetus, and then to one of the two parties that most represent its ideals. That would be the Republican Party, as the Democratic Party is more tied with the Communist Manifesto.

Keep in mind that the Reform Party of the early 90's split the vote on the right and got Bill Clinton elected, and the Green Party took enough votes away from Al Gore to get George W. Bush elected. Had either party integrated with the party more affiliated with it's majority goals, then Bush 41 would have won a reelection, and Gore would have beaten Bush 43 (of course, barring the reelection of his Dad in the prior scenario).

What will be more likely is that the Tea Party will become the dominant operational factor within the Republican Party, displacing the blue blooded RINO faction. As socialism in general dissipates in the US, the Democratic Party will have to return to the center and try to marginalize the GOP. I have predicted that within a generation, we will see a new political realignment of the two major factions to ones that contain the tenets of "Classic Conservativism" against the one that contains "Libertarian Constitutionalism." Note I have no idea what the parties themselves will be called, but it is conceivable that the party names Democratic and Republican will remain.

Just a thought.

Its become quite clear....

Submitted by Kuso Jiji on Fri, 01/28/2011 - 1:37pm.

....what used to be an independant media is now a fully integrated branch of the democratic party  political machine.

members of the leftwing media were schooled by marxists and indoctrinated into the program by their mentors.  their ability to walk lockstep with each is not the result of some grand conspiracy, it is who they are and its a roll that gladly fill.

a funny thing happened on the road to socialism though, the truth got out and now flourishes on radio, over the internet and in one small corner of broadcast media.

the old media is dying because the American public is onto them.

I used to believe they could create a toilet paper shortage just by reporting there was a toilet paper shortage.  I don't think so anymore.

They said he was a centrist in 2008. They said he was a pragmatist in 2008. They said he was in the middle in 2008.

Now he has to move there?

Submitted by Reaver on Fri, 01/28/2011 - 5:39pm.

Many of the media pundits in ’08 who were telling us that Obama was no radical leftist, that he was a pragmatist and would govern as a centrist are the same pundits who are saying today that Obama is shifting to the center. Lincoln was right, Obama is living proof that you can fool some of the people all of the time.
