"If Sarah Palin Weren't a Fanatic, I Might Feel Sorry For Her" blares the headline for Bonnie Erbe's June 30 blog post up at USNews.com. Gov. Palin joins blogger Michelle Malkin as a target of Erbe's rather catty disdain.
The PBS "To the Contrary" host and US News contributing editor alerted her readers of her antipathy for the former Republican vice presidential nominee in light of Todd Purdum's drive-by hit piece in Vanity Fair [see NB contributor Mike Sargent's excellent takedown of that here]:
Gov. Palin is a woman on a right-wing mission. She's clearly not ready for prime time. She's easy grist for any journalistic mill. If she weren't such a fanatic, I could feel sorry for her. But since she enjoys killing moose, wolves, and anything else in her rifle sight, I'll pass, thanks.
Erbe generally has been harsh on Palin, but once lauded the Alaska governor for admitting that for a very brief moment she considered aborting her youngest child Trig:
Story Continues Below Ad ↓Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin displayed one minute aspect of her personality that even I could take a shine to. Speaking last night to an anti-abortion rights dinner in Indiana, Gov. Palin said publicly that she considered having an abortion on that trip—not an easy admission, especially before such a judgmental group
[...]
I see this as brave on her part because when she mentioned she understood "what these women ... go through," that is precisely the problem with much of the anti-abortion rights movement. Many members don't understand or don't care, quite frankly, what women and girls with unplanned pregnancies do go through, except to the extent they want to try to persuade them to have children they're ill-equipped to raise. To go up against that lack of compassion, even though her audience knows she did decide to carry her pregnancy to term, shows Gov. Palin truly does understand what it's like.
The bottom line seems to be that for Erbe -- a radical feminist obsessed with abortion-on-demand and fearful of gun rights -- a popular, politically viable Gov. Sarah Palin is her worst nightmare.
In light of that, may I humbly suggest a campaign theme song for the governor: "Enter Sandman."

But even that's a lie
July 1, 2009 - 12:27 ET by ArcherBWhen has Palin ever said that she enjoys killing "anything in her sight"? When has Palin ever said she enjoys killing wolves? Granted, she allows such practices because THEY ARE NECESSARY IN A PLACE LIKE ALASKA WHERE WOLVES ATTACK LIVESTOCK AND CHILDREN!!!!!! I guess that's somthing that someone who takes a Limo from her high-rise condo to her corner office high-rise would never understand. To her, food simply appears on her table when her servants drop it off and she has no clue nor care as to how it got there.
Also, to this woman, banning abortion is the same thing as forcing her to take her shoes off and work all day in the kitchen when she's not breastfeeding her kids or having new ones. It makes no difference that every woman in America has more access to contraceptives than abortions. The only "right" that matters to her is the right to kill her unborn. She is no better than the roaches that eat their young.

July 1, 2009 - 12:32 ET by Massage_Master07It's not just "handicapped" children, but ALL children to girls or women that don't want an "unexpected" pregnancy. Obviously they didn't get the memo that a woman who has sex with a man USUALLY leads to pregnancy. Of course, that part of PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY isn't taught that much in this day and age. This is after all, the disposable age. LOL
Also, I bet that Erbe does NOT care or realize that hunting OVER POPULATED predators is GOOD for the local eco-system. THAT fact is "conveniantly" forgotten. Of course, with Sarah Palin being a conservative, she'd be attacked for NOT hunting and protecting the Alaskan eco-system.

July 1, 2009 - 11:58 ET by BlondeErbe apparently can't understand that the hunting of game is a means of putting food on the table. Perhaps she doesn't get it, because she is apparently a vegan or vegetarian.
Perhaps she'd like to get back to me (and Gov. Palin) about putting food on our tables after she's harvested all of her fruits, nuts, grains, etc. she has so carefully produced for herself. I'd like to see her banned from all grocery stores and restaurants for a year and see what her attitude is then.
It is truly odd that a so-called feminist would find it so offensive that a woman would not only enjoy the role of hunter, but would be so good at what has been traditionally the role of the male in our society. I thought these radical feminists liked that kind of stuff.

July 1, 2009 - 14:13 ET by konoAmerican taxpayers have no choice about paying part of Erbe's salary, along with her other PBS and NPR cohorts. Forcing us to pay to be propagandized is not all that different from charging the families of political prisoners for the costs of cleaning up after their loved one's execution.
A fitting nickname for Erbe might be 'Maraca-Head', since all there is inside that skull is a handful of tiny rocks that make a loud noise when shaken.

I did run across this article about Sarah Palin; http://www.runnersworld.com/article/0,7120,s6-243-410--13221-0,00.html - too bad the idiots handling things during the campaign didn't show what kind of shape Sarah was in...they could have run her in every state, pushing a 3 wheeler with the baby on board.

July 1, 2009 - 18:20 ET by DoktorFrankenAnd that, I believe, is a major problem with Leftist women. Just look at Governor Palin and then look at Pelosi, Hillary, Erbe, Whoopi, Behar, MO (ugh! no, don't), hell - any of the Left's 'spokeswomen' and you'll see why they hate/envy her.
Sarah is a woman and her own person. She is attractive and smart. She is all that they can never be. Hence PDS.

July 2, 2009 - 09:35 ET by Cape Conservativea happy liberal woman. Even in the most dire times as we are now experiencing at the hand of 'the one', my conservative women friends still see life as 'half-full' - NEVER have I encountered a liberal who does! I think a lot of this stems from the fact that conservatives look to themselves for fulfillment while liberals are constantly looking to others rather than taking PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY for their own lives.
I'm so happy I am a CONSERVATIVE WOMAN! I refuse to give ownership of my state of mind to 'the one' no matter how hard he tries to discourage me! I will take my pleasures in my family, my pet, my quilting, my gardening, my participation in the 4th of July celebration and any future Tea Party events. He can NOT take these away from me! And we WILL succeed come 2010...so watch out!

Besides who needs government funded media when the MSM is in your back pocket for free?
Sarah Palin has 20 plus good years to decide if she even wants to run for president. Personally I would like to see her run for the senate just to see what havoc she could wreak on that sorry bunch of bottom feeders!

July 1, 2009 - 12:50 ET by Lord ErondWay back when, women on the frontier could strip and prepare a buffalo, tend to the homestead all while carrying children on their back and could pick the hair off a gnat's balls at 200 yards with their shooting abilities and defend the home against the wild injuns. Those are the women who made this country great.
Now, many of today's women have become wussified "when's my man going to marry me, and feed me chocolate in bed everyday for the rest of my life?" types. They wouldn't be able to cook if it wasn't for a microwave and they have a headache for 5 days if they have to move a piece of furniture. We have these whiny, wussy, wimpy women like...well like Erbe.

July 1, 2009 - 12:59 ET by DJEddleYou know...I've never really considered myself a Republican (not to be confused with a republican), but to see everyone attack Sarah Palin the way they do - from both sides of the political spectrum - it makes me like her more every day. There must be something about her that the establishment absolutely hates. They're scared...and I like it.
At the same time, I don't like the fact that the same establishment lets Obama get away with things like this:
Obama Fails with Iran and Honduras
And this:
Revisionist History in the Making: Obama and the Iraq War
While I thoroughly enjoy watching the media and the government squirm at the thought of Palin having political clout, I also wish they would be just a tad bit more respectable when it comes to holding the federal executive usurper accountable for his horrendous decision-making and outright deception. But I know that's asking way too much from them.

July 2, 2009 - 07:51 ET by trhugTo me, any toxic broadcast should be deemed unpalatable. Words have the power to feed or cripple humans. Such vile commentary should be treated as foodstuffs with sal monilla or e-choli saturations. I ,if sickened by a portion of "food", will toss such into trash. Usually sane people don't eat or listen to tainted material repeatedly. Poison cannot be accepted as commentary .
One who habitually ingests deadly food , would necessarily accept Erbe's rants and be sickened. PBS equates to taxpayer-funded Progressive Broadcast System. I grew sick of this scheme many ,many years ago. I can remember when TV was something in the future, so I have no qualms with "off buttons" use on any piece of electronic gear. The most peaceful times in my life have been those when power was not available to my abode. Without an audience for dissent or approval, would-be dictators never flourish. I give no audience to speakers who habitually spew false statements. I might add my BS filter has been honed to laser accuracy. I wish my typing expressive skills were as accurate.
"The power of life and death are in the tongue" .That which a man takes into his mouth does not defile the man. That which comes out of the mouth defiles.
