Obama's Hometown Sun-Times on Palin: 'Little-known' Gov of 'Less Than Two Years'

Chicago Sun-Times news alert on Palin | NewsBusters.orgThe following is the News Alert on the front page of one of Sen. Barack Obama's hometown papers (emphasis mine):

John John McCain tapped little-known Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin to be his vice presidential running mate on Friday in a startling selection on the eve of the Republican National Convention. In an announcement, the campaign said that Palin, who has been governor less than two years, "has the record of reform and bipartisanship that others can only speak of."

Kind of amusing considering Chicago is the town that brought America a little-known junior senator to prominence as the Democratic nominee for the presidency.

Is she the most qualified person for the job?

Is this the best person to have as VP incase something happens to McCain?

Cut and Paste Much?

How many NB posts did you cut and paste this into, you Democrat talking point parrot?

You can't see the

You can't see the irony...which is, in itself, ironic.  That was my point.

If we righties criticize Hillary it's sexism, or if we criticize Obama, it's racism - but the same standards somehow don't apply when the criticism comes from the Left.  The hypocrisy is palpable.

Experience, anyone?

PopTech:

Sarah Palin - Even though she is governor of AK, she went over to Iraq a number of times to visit with troops in the AK ANG.  This of her own freewill.  I don't know of many other governors who have done this.  (I am open to correction but I don't think even my own Gov, Rick Perry, has.)

Barack Obama - dragged kicking and screaming to the AOR.

What is wrong with this picture?  One is a governor.  One is a U.S. Senator.   You mean to tell me the governor cares more about the troops than the Senator???

I would have preferred she win another term as governor before stepping onto this stage, but thus far I like the pick.

One more thing: no matter how you slice it, she has more executive experience than Obama.  As mayor of Wasilla and as the governor of AK, she has actually had to make executive decisions, unlike Obama, who may have sponsored the occasional bill or three.  (There IS a reason why legislators find it so difficult to get to the White House, historically speaking.)

Whoever casts a vote for Obama-Biden is nothing more than a common thief.  Whoever fails to vote against them is nothing more than a moral coward.

USA, and in their first

USA, and in their first statement on the pick, the Obama campaign completely ignored the fact that she is the governor of Alaska; they called her a former mayor!

"Today,
John McCain put the former mayor of a town of 9,000 with zero foreign
policy experience a heartbeat away from the presidency."
-Obama spokesman Bill Burton. (emphasis added)

How is THAT for disrespect for and diminishment of a woman!

Pathetic. That's all they have?

The no foreign policy experience card played by the Obama team is laughable.

As noted above, Palin visited the troops in the AOR as a governor.  Obama, the U.S. Senator, was dragged kicking and screaming into the AOR more or less by public opinion.

Whoever casts a vote for Obama-Biden is nothing more than a common thief.  Whoever fails to vote against them is nothing more than a moral coward.

Brave Woman

The first comment I made to my wife this morning when I heard the announcement was that Gov. Palin must be a tough, brave woman.  The onslaught she will face from the left is guaranteed to be over the top.  They have a history of being cruel to black conservatives and female conservatives.  This will get ugly.

Ugly will be an understatment

but the MSM should be warned this coming attack will truly be a double edge sword.

Comments

I watch the number of posts for a given story to get an idea of what really excites NBers. Lyndsi's post on CNN and partisan Roberts (sounds like Comrade Roberts during the revolution) has at this time 213 postings. Maybe a record. I was wondering how long it would take for the libs to start disinformation tactics, CNN didn't wait for the formal announcement. He should have waited. Her acceptance removed all doubts I had about the wisdom of McCain's choice. I'll bet she will scare the hell out of them and the MSM will go to extreme lengths to discredit her, enough so that it will show more people their bias.

DAILY WAVE

Obama's tactical error

With the announcement that John McCain has selected Gov. Sarah Palin as his Vice President, I feel a great weight has been lifted from my chest.

Till now, whether I was going to vote in this years election was iffy. I will now be voting for McCain.

I can’t help but believe that many other conservatives are now feeling the same way.

In a previous post, I had suggested that McCain pick a conservative woman as his VP and it should be Palin, which he’s done. I had also suggested that Obama pick Clinton as his VP because he needed a boost in his flagging campaign, which he didn’t do. As a result, Obama made an enormous tactical error.

Even before her formal announcement was made, the Obama campaign started dissing her as being a small town girl. That may be so, but she has a big town mind.

Obama’s socialist agenda is in serious trouble as I believe conservatives and Clinton women will now be flocking to McCain.

Small Town Girl?

So the Bambi gang has denounced her for being a small town girl? Wow, what morons.

First, "girl"....well, let's sauce that goose....that makes Obama a "boy" doesn't it. Ooops! Now they get to play the race card.

Secondly, "small town".  Hmmm....I guess that would be a reference to those bitter, clinging-to-their-guns folks who didn't grow up in a big town liberal metropolis.  Nice.

Obama and his attack dogs (including the dinosaur media) would be very, very wise to keep their mouths shut when it comes to trying to tear down Sarah Palin....but they won't be able to do it.  I'm watching one now on Fox....sheesh!

This site may soon melt....it's going to be fun!

Right Blonde - the Obama campaign is making huge mistakes

with this. What a joke. Obama is supposed to be the reformer while he's in the pocket of Big City and Big State corrupt politics and has NO record of going against it. No record of Change. McCain and Palin have him on his only montra "Change". If McCain does this right - he can make a mockery of the Obama claim of "change".

Palin brings real change and real symbolism of true reform and her experience trumps Obama's. McCain has shown his willingness to go against his party. It used to piss me off , but now with this pick of Palin - I appreciate it. She'll show McCain how to go against what really matters. I think she will be a great adviser to him. They are both against the waste and corruption and this is a true reform ticket (not just one that gives it lip service). Palin has it right on just about every issue and McCain has it right on my most important issues (The War on Terror, Supreme Court judges, and taxes).

By the way - I think you said you missed the Saddleback debate. It's worth catching and FOX is re-running it tomorrow. Not sure of the time though. I put it on a forum topic so if I find out the time I can put it there.

Just about every attack

Just about every attack they can dream up to unleash on her will cause them to be hoist on the their own petard.

And they will deserve every bit of it!

GOP Vs DNC

Ha they talk about inexperience???  Obama the man who has absolutly no accomplishments  Or Palin???? Shes to inexperienced to be VP. But he can be President.

Palin in 2012.

By By Nancy. You are no longer the Queen Bee.

Question? Will the fairness doctrin cover the "Liberal MSM" also.I bet you they will get arround it. ROTFLMAO

The Double-standard

Can you believe the double-standard the liberals allow themselves?

 I mean, Obama's inexperience doesn't count but Palin's does?

 Are they serious?

Yes, they are

Yes, they are serious.

Sean Hannity was right.  2008 will be known for the death of the MSM.

Sarah Palin - This is what a Conservative looks like !

can't handle it

The sissy boys in the MSM can't handle a strong woman.

Did someone hear a noise?

The thud you heard was the Obama bouncy ball being popped by fresh face Sarah Palin and falling to the floor.

The Anointed One's speech is yesterday's news (literally!)

www.ArmchairEnergist.com

I heard the noise

It was the experience argument going out the window. The single biggest argument McCain had against Obama.

The experience argument is yesterdays news LITERALLY!

wrong

Obama has only 143 days as a senator AND IS THE MAIN TICKET.  Palin has TWO YEARS as an executive in charge of a state, and has MANY accomplishments in those two years.  Palin is also the SECONDARY ticket to McCain.

The bambi's lack of experience is STILL a valid issue, but not as much as his rampant marxist views.

Community Agitator

HA HA HA! Are you trying to say that 2 years as governor trumps 10 years of being a 'community' activist??

 Are you crazy!?

LesserOf2evils '08

yes

Community organizer is SUCH A JOKE. The fact that he did it for TEN YEARS without moving on makes Obama even more of a joke.

Look at what Palin accomplished in those two years. There is no way in hell you can claim Obama has equal experience. Palin can relate to what she has accomplished, where Obama is just empty promises.

mbuel - maybe it wouldn't be a joke if he had accomplished

anything doing it. He accomplished nothing but getting himself in with corrupt Chicago politicians.

bingo

Precisely.....

And why isn't this dirty hay being uncovered by the lamestream media?

Palin has accomplished great things, while Obama has continued to make empty promises that the world owes you a living.

Now

Now we are really going to seperate the men from the boys.

NOWWWWWWWWWWWWWW LET THE WORLD CONTEST FOR CHAMPION HYPOCRITES FOR ALL OF HISTORY BEGIN!

SO 143 DAYS EXPERIENCE IS ENOUGH. WE'LL SEE.

What a crock of shit

The GOP just became the affirmative action party, let the games begin indeed!

what are you talking about

The GOP has always been the affirmative action party, the democrats were against the civil rights bills in the 60's, and MLK Jr was a republican.

Listening to Rush discuss

Listening to Rush discuss this pick, and I gotta wonder if he's smoking something???  He says she's a great pick for the following two reasons:

1.  Women who are upset that Hillary got stiffed will flock to McCain.

2.  The media/Dems will have a hard time criticizing her without being seen as criticizing women.

To the first, the women who were upset that Hillary got stiffed are mostly NAGs.  The biggest issue for NAGs in abortion, so what on earth would make anyone think that the Hillary issue will trump abortion for them?  Also, these women probably might support an older, frumpy, gal, but not one who's former beauty queen.

To the second, the MSM/Dems have been shredding Condi Rice for close to eight years now, and she's far and away more intelligent and capable, AND she's African-American to boot!  What chance are they going to give an inexperienced former beauty queen who's married to an oil industry executive???  Not effin much!

YES YES YES Hillary Voters we need em!

I am so excited the GOP pandered to Hillary voters we need them bad! I mean how did Bush win twice? He obviously got all the Hillary Voters!

This is the biggest hypocritical move ever.

I think it's foolish, but I

I think it's foolish, but I don't see it as hypocritical.  There are several strong, experienced, conservative, women who McCain could have picked.  But this gal???  She's a female version of Obama!  Worse, her marriage to an oil industry exec is going to be a lightning rod.

What kind of nonsense is that???

In what way is Palin the female Obama?  One, Palin is quite clear as to her political philosophy and leanings.  And she doesn't constantly endeavor to conceal them.  Two, Palin has executive experience, unlike Obama, who only has legislative experience.

Three, her being married to an employee of BP must really enrage you personally, as you don't think the laws of economics apply in any way to the oil industry.

Whoever casts a vote for Obama-Biden is nothing more than a common thief.  Whoever fails to vote against them is nothing more than a moral coward.

I know.

There is some absolute insanity out there unsane.

While Palin was CLEARLY a political ploy to try and garner disaffected democrats (and a smart one you arrogant conservatives, it's more likely the party will change them than the other way around!), it IS ALSO a ploy towards conservatives.

EVERY conservative I've talked to who was "nose plugs for McCain" (which in itself was completely arrogant), is absolutely excited about Palin.

This includes conservatives that have sat out several elections because they feel disconnected by the politicians that are on the ticket. PALIN IS REAL. And highlighting her humanity like the liberal media is doing will only strengthen her appeal.

Palin has accomplishments, Obama has empty promises.

Absolutely...

Some time back, I was absolutely in awe that McCain was chosen. I listened to my little brother, who is a Marine (so you know the head is not right there), just singing praises of McCain. My brother had never followed the career of McCain prior to a few weeks before the primaries began.

I stated months ago, when McCain was looking to be a guaranteed candidate, that I would not vote for the man, unless he chose a proven Conservative to be his running mate. While my first choice was not picked, I did do research on Palin afterwards. Everything I could find on her, has shown her to be socially and economically Conservative, to offset the lack of "showing" in those areas by McCain.

In other words... Palin has now enabled me to vote for McCain this year because he HAS a Conservative in the background...

Granted, we don't vote as much for a Vice-President, as we do a President... however -- I see it as linked in many regards.

EFFIN????

OK Bruz-effin-illa: DUHHHH!!!

Let me instruct you. The MSM would crucify Our Lord again if McCain put him on the ticket. There is an element of character that you seem unfamiliar with, an affliction that you apparantly share with dems and the MSM.

It's called courage.

I agree with you that they

I agree with you that they would shred Our Lord if McCain picked him, but you misunderstood the point I made.  My point was that Rush, not me, was saying the media wouldn't be able to attack her out of fear of looking like they are against women.  After watching them shred Condi Rice for all this time, the fact that McCain's pick is a woman isn't going to slow them down a bit.

Well, just like Rice isn't

Well, just like Rice isn't an "authentic" black, I expect them to make Palin out to be a not "authentic" woman.

After all Real (read Liberal) women don't give birth to Down Syndrome babies; they abort them. Real women don't saddle themselves with 5 kids; they have one or two and hire nannies.

And above all, REAL women are liberal Democrats who favor universal health care, a "living" wage and "affordable" housing.

SunTimes going down the tubes

As NB reported the other day, Chicago Sun Times is going down the tubes, nobody's buyin nobody's readin and everyone's gettin their info from the internet and they choose to not read this garbage mostly b/c it spews anti American, family, military and police rhetoric on a daily basis.

equal opportunity employment

Every time Barry speaks about Palins inexperience he highlights his own. Now we can move on to issues. As for criticism, I'm keeping my mouth shut and my ears open.

That's true, but that sword

That's true, but that sword cuts both ways.  Everytime that McCain criticizes Obama's experience, Obama can come back and say "well, my experience level was good enough for your VP pick."  I think McCain has effectively screwed himself out of his best campaign issue.

What's "good enough" for a

What's "good enough" for a VP pick is not the same as the criteria for the main man. Palin wouldn't be running the show. Obama would.

I agree MB - Plus Palin is more experienced than Obama!

It's really retarded of him to bring up her inexperience as an issue.

He's experienced in hob-knobbing with mobster style politicians and that's about it. She's got real independent executive experience. She has taken on her party and Obama has only kissed up and played the same old game.

This was a brilliant pick by McCain. I really didn't think he'd do it.

Grooming vs. on-the-job tutoring

I'd rather be grooming a VP (Palin) than tutoring a POTUS (Obama). Wouldn't you?

Whoever casts a vote for Obama-Biden is nothing more than a common thief.  Whoever fails to vote against them is nothing more than a moral coward.

The Libs are completely taken by surprise...

Sarah Palin is proving to be a brilliant move by McCain. The MSM is beside themselves in frustration and utter jealosy.

If you seen her speak in Dayton, she was far more articulate and more spontaneous than the Manchild. Palin needs no stinkin' teleprompter.

She's intelligent and freaking gorgeous! And classy.

Hillary is whipping herself silly with her cat-o-nine tails!

That she has been selected for VICE President, not President. In fact, given eight years of a McCain presidency she will emerge as a qualified, resourceful head of state who just happens to be a woman ... isn't that what the democraps and the media have been crowing about all along?

I disagree Bruzilla - they won't be able to demonize her

without drawing attention to Obama's inexperience which is much greater than hers.

She has a record of real "Change' and taking on her own party.

Dan Quayle

Wow, this is the second website I've been on today where the Left has brought up Dan Quayle ( who by the way had waaaay more experience than Obama and Palin combined  - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dan_Quayle ). Talking points indeed.
