Liberal blogger Molly Priesmeyer may have bitten off a bit more than she can chew with a blog mocking Republican presidential candidate John McCain for his false teeth. Of course, commenters on her blog have noted that McCain's teeth were smashed out by North Vietnamese tormentors, but Priesmeyer's entry at Minnesota Monitor remains online although it obviously is in poor taste:
If bloggers are saying one thing about John McCain this week it's that the 71-year-old has some serious grit. Of course, that grit comes in the form of McCain Mouth, a deformity that apparently causes teeth to look like a mess of yellowed and contorted Chiclets. Today, BuzzFeed.com has picked up on the mouth meme, turning McCain's piano-key chompers into an official phenomenon.
The consensus? "They're old." And, "He looks like Reverend Kane from Poltergeist II." And, "Dude has had a ton of plastic surgery, can't he afford a dentist?"
Hot Air's Ed Morrissey noted today that Minnesota Monitor is funded by left-wing megamillionaire George Soros:

After acknowledging the fact that she didn’t bother to research her topic, Priesmeyer has yet to write a correction or apology — and the story remains on the front page. Priesmeyer left this as a comment to her own story:
I was not aware of the fact [of the torture]. I simply was linking to a post that revealed “his teeth” had become a topic of discussion on the blogosphere. Buzzfeed.com is an aggregator site that collects trends of the day.

For many, weight issues are not necessarily a "choice." And disliking someone because of their physical appearance is definitely a bigot's hallmark.
Just the way disliking someone over their clothing choice (dashiki, anyone?) can be.
Or assuming someone with long hair is a "hippy." Or that someone with a shaved head is a "skin-head" (aka Nazi).
Making certain "choices" does not open one up to free-for-all bigotry.

Furthermore, the simple fact of the matter is that fat people are lazy and pathetic.
Literally, all you have to do is eat a regular amount of food and get a minimal amount of exercise, and you won't be fat. Take one walk around the block once per day.
If you can't even do that, you're mentally ill or incredibly lazy.

I happen to know a lady with a weight problem. She walks as often as she can. She's had her thyroid removed, that's a lot of the cause of the problem. She also has had surgery on both hips, and they've not been good since, so it kind of limits her walking. She generally eats healthy, but the deck is kind of stacked against her. She's one of the sweetest people you'd want to know. But you wouldn't want to know her. You wouldn't learn any of this about her.
Because, on sight, she would repulse you. That's bigotry.
