Joy Behar: We Never Liked Rev. Wright

Photo of Justin McCarthy.

With recent anti-Semitic remarks, Whoopi and Joy finally condemned Reverend Wright, while Joy ludicrously denied ever supporting President Obama’s former pastor. On the June 11 edition of "The View," Joy Behar logically concluded Wright is indeed an anti-Semite and even branded the reverend "evil."

When Elisabeth Hasselbeck noted such comments are on par with Wright’s past ravings, Behar immediately countered "no one liked him on this panel." While Joy may not have been Wright’s biggest cheerleader, she has attempted to justify Reverend Wright’s extreme remarks even labeling Wright’s "God Damn America" sermon "righteous," spinning an anti-Italian slur as a "compliment" and refused to "sit in judgement" over Wright’s sermons "because I’m not black."

Whoopi Goldberg, who also defended Wright’s rants in the past, added "we never talked about his anti-Semitism" but "the ravings of him being against white people...and America." In Whoopi’s world anti-white racism and anti-Americanism is apparently more acceptable than anti-Semitism.

The transcript follows.

WHOOPI GOLDBERG: Hate is hate, and it doesn’t matter who it’s coming from. Reverend Wright is back in the news. He told the Virginia Daily Press the reason President Obama hasn’t contacted him lately is because, quote, "them Jews aren’t going to let me talk to him."

BARBARA WALTERS: Yeah, and then he said when he’s no longer in office, maybe then Obama will- in other words, he’s, he’s just doing this now because of the Jews.

JOY BEHAR: You know, he’s talking about Rahm Emanuel and Axelrod, who happen to be Jewish guys. If he wasn’t an anti-Semite, he would have said "his henchmen" or "his bodyguards." But because he says "Jew" that, that makes him an anti-Semite. In case you’re listening Reverend Wright, we’re on to you.

[applause]

ELISABETH HASSELBECK: Now, now. I still go back, I mean- this guy hasn’t- it’s not like he shifted what he’s been preaching for the past 20 something years.

BEHAR: No one liked him on this panel.

GOLDBERG: No, no. We never defended- we defended- what we tried to make folks understand was why this man, who’s a reverend and a man whom everyone should have been very respectful of had some of the views he had. We never talked about his anti-Semitism. We never talked about his anti- anything but the ravings of him being against white people is what we were talking about.

BEHAR: And America.

GOLDBERG: And America. And the- the idea that this- that this man could reduce the president of the United States to that is shocking to me. This is a guy who says he’s his friend. This is a guy who’s-

HASSELBECK: It’s not shocking to me. It’s not shocking I think it is what he’s been doing for a long time.

GOLDBERG: No I know it’s not shocking to you, but that’s okay. But here’s what is also- yes go ahead because I have to do something. No go ahead.

SHERRI SHEPHERD: I was going to say Reverend Wright reminds me- everybody has got that old uncle that says crazy stuff and you’ve got to want to put him in the back-

BEHAR: He’s evil.

SHEPHERD: I know you’re not going to get it.

HASSELBECK: You can choose your pastor. You can choose your pastor. You choose your pastor.

GOLDBERG: Oh, good God!

Many liberals on this site never made a comment concerning

Wright's anti-Jewish tirade yesterday.  Nope, not a peep.

KDW, NWAHS, etc...   but they will be the first to argue a movies net financial gain or defend David L's perverted rants.

Equally disturbing is how the liberals on this site believe conservative talk radio caused the murders of other people.

 How telling...

Oh, lol, and NWAHS a Republican ever?  LOL  if you believe that one...

It's official

I just got my talking points from the RNC and we are now officially required to call NWAHS 'Backwards Shawn'.

I've been calling him that

I've been calling him that forever.

But then, I'm on the ultra-high-priority list, so I got the word a looooong time ago....

I didn't think it was physically possible, but this both sucks and blows.  -Bart Simpson

Wright, Behar, von Brunn, Kos, Goldberg, Huffington....

...all of them are anti-Semitic, because they're all Democrats.

There's no difference, except MAYBE for one.

Wright, Behar, Kos, Goldberg and Huffington don't work for a living, so they have time to whip people like von Brunn into a frenzy.

(So how do you like it, Democrats and "moderates?")

Despite some users thoughts

Despite some users thoughts and comments, I've always thought Wright to be a huge A-Hole.  With a capital A! (no offense)  As if the video of him pre-election wasn't bad enough, now he caught again berating Jews.  This is a bad man, and it's about time Obama makes a statement denouncing this racist prick.

We can finally agree on something.

: )

Seriously dude, it's time

Seriously dude, it's time that you give this Rev Wright issue a rest.  I spent all day yesterday commenting on another page and simply did not have time to chime in on this issue.  I've put the Letterman thread to bed now, so I'm happy to talk about Wright all day if you'd like.

Well, we could KDW, but we would actually be in agreement.

I am satisfied that you repudiate his words, as I do.

However, notice the press?  You did not get this from the MSM.  You got this from the alternative media like NB's.

I don't recall where I first

I don't recall where I first saw it, but I definitely saw it on one of the main news stations.  Without a doubt it's not a big issue for MSNBC.  And while I certainly saw it here yesterday, I was seriously too busy yesterday to even read another story, let alone comment on one.  But see - we do agree on some things.  We just need the right stories to hit NB to find out.

Well, the fact that it wasn't picked up and near the top by all

three major networks is obvious to me that they know it can effect the chosen One.

I think NB's does a great job at exposing media bias and presenting stories that actually do affect our lives.

Stories that even Drudge doesn't pick up on until after the fact.

I don't necessarily think

I don't necessarily think this specific incident will affect Mr Obama.  We all remember what Wright has said in the past, but this time he's specifically complaining that he isn't allowed communication with the president.  If Obama wants to speak with Wright, he will.  He's the most powerful man in the world and not even his handlers can stop him.  I think Obama is doing his best to continue to distance himself from this hate-fueled idiot, but I think a statement at this time could certainly help his cause.

Joy!

Joy Behar never like Jeremiah Wright. "SHE LOVED JEREMIAH WRIGHT"!

obama already made his

obama already made his statement about that scum by sitting in his barn for 20 years.

and yet...

And, somehow, he could not remember a WORD Wright said. Interesting!

Ladies & Gentlemen...

Let the backpedaling begin.

“It does not require a majority to prevail, but rather an irate, tireless minority keen to set brush fires in people's minds”

Samuel Adams

Come on Gals of the view,

You all, with the exception of Elizabeth, had no problem with the racist, anti american, socialist, Reverend Wright until Barack threw him under the bus along with Grandma and Bill Ayers. Then you ignored him until this latest rant. Now you're trying to marginalize him in true democrat style to protect his "Wonness".

Just stand up in front of your audience and admit it. It won't hurt and your fans will finally see you as you really are. They may even respect you for it.

We were supposed to think it

We were supposed to think it was OK that Obama went to Wright's church for 20 years and lapped up this lunacy, but now evidently we are supposed to believe that Wright is evil?  I am pretty sure that Wright has not changed over the last few months.

Obama chose this pastor

Every Sunday obama showed his support by sitting thru the tirades he claims were preeching.  does this tell us Obama is not loyal?

Hate is Hate, eh?  So, does

Hate is Hate, eh?  So, does that mean you on the Spue will be denouncing Letterman anytime soon....it doesn't matter to me, I won't be watching...

has there ever been a

has there ever been a coherent thought expressed on this ridiculous show?

They never liked his pastor?

They all liked him enough to give SOBama a pass on where he spent his Sundays!

This was SOBama's mentor for 20 years!

They are from the same cloth and now they don't like the pastor?

They should also change their minds about the anti semite in the White House!

Oh, Whoopi. Let me finish that statement for you:

Oh, Whoopi. Let me finish that statement for you:

GOLDBERG: And America. And the- the idea that this- that this man could reduce the president of the United States to that is shocking to me. This is a guy who says he’s his friend. This is a guy who’s-

- a guy who trashed your last favorite president and first lady (Senator, Sec. of State) as well:

According to Wright, President Bill Clinton, did the talk but not the walk; Wright attacked the Clinton's - both Bill and Hillary - on the basis of his record on, and how she will treat the black community as president. According to Wright, Clinton was no friend to the black community. The transcript of the video, please:

Rev. Wright:  Hillary is married to Bill and Bill have been good to us? No, he ain't! Bill did us [The Rev. thrusting his pelvis to an fro] just like he did Monica Lewinsky!

Congregation:  (cheers)

Rev. Wright:  He was riding dirty!

You gals never knew about that one, did you? Why? Because the MSM did not want the public to see it - it would have greatly hurt the Democrats to have a war going on during their campaign to deliver change.

Joy, Joy, Joy...If you don't "like" him, then you must "hate" him and we should throw your a#@ in jail for a hate crime.  See how silly this hate crime legislation is??

How phony...how convenient

How phony...how convenient when the rubber meets the road.

Any ol' excuse will do now that they have their messiah in office who sat in Wright's pews for 20 years...

Obligatory quote

This Quote should be a must every time there is as "The View" Thread.

Gerald Goode: "The Views is on, The pretty one is saying crazy stuff again."

No he was not talking about Joy being the pretty one. The unpretty ones say all the sane things /sarc

What, no comment from whoopsy

explaining how "that is a very (Jewish) way of looking at it"? I mean that explained everything during the election.

And do they not see a pattern here? This is two, three, maybe more, (I may have missed some) times where wright reveals his innermost self to the world. He MENTORED the 0 for 20 freakin' years. If anyone thinks the 0 doesn't believe this horsesh#%, then they are doing more than just drinking cool aid. SHEESH!!!!!

Repeat excuse

She's used that excuse before, when his rants first became public.

The good Reverend said too

The good Reverend said too darn much for even this gaggle to spin away in his defense.

At least Hasselbeck wouldn't let the Obama twenty year association with this hate merchant slide.

One of the 34% who thinks George W. Bush was a great President. One of the 61% who wants to bring back the stock and pillory (yep...approval for Congress now at 39%...do you believe that!?).

The View

What an insult to intelligence this show is. Joy Behar, We never liked Rev Wright. Can't she think for herself the coward. Did she have to check with Woopi to make sure it was safe to say? Woopi Goldberg the De Facto lead on the show, is one of the most dishonest biggots I've ever seen.

I'd be interested in how many conversations between those the FRIENDS Hasselbeck is left out of. My opinion of this program was this show was a vehicle for ignorance, stupidity, and hatred and now I want to add cowardice.

Only watched part of it a few times--

because of comments here. A big concern on my part is the same concern I had two nights ago listening to Litterman try to justify his scurrilous attack on the Palins and that is the audience response. They definitely enjoy it. They are worse than the show's casts.

Dad was right--there are more horse's asses than horses.

Joy Behar...

is a vile and disgusting hater. She is not that much different than Wright, especially when it comes to her feelings about conservatives.

President Obama is nothing more than a lying empty suit; a Hollywood style special effects smoke and mirrors show that has shown itself to be a total fraud.

WAKE UP AMERICA! SAVE OUR CONSTITUTION!

wright

So now that he's insulted one of them (Behar) he's evil? Anyone preaching a hate message is wrong. I don't understand his hatred for Jews when the Bible clearly shows that they are God's chosen people. If he was any kind of a biblical scholar, he would know that. But any "pastor" who uses the Lord's name the way he has, is no scholar of the Word.

Re Wright

The putrid 'Black Liberation Theology' has always been more about Marxism than Christianity. The movement was invented in South America when the Marxists there decided that the Roman Catholic church was not entirely compatible with their objectives. BLT is more like La Raza than any mainstream Christian church.

This is just sad.

Mr. Wright's comments (I refuse to give him the title of "reverend",) were defended because he was part of the "Black Church," that Ms. Goldberg defended during the election. Now suddenly he's done something wrong, because instead of attacking the entire population of the United States, he focussed on a particular group that she belongs to. I guess that saying "God Damn America" wasn't horrible enough back then. Heck, it was all the rage back then wasn't it...

Remember,  Hasselbeck was pretty much in tears back then saying she wished we could all be one nation and Ms. Goldberg basically told her that we could not be. Blacks were different than whites, I guess "Seperate But Equal" is gaining a foothold after all. I guess I'm an idiot, I always thought that "Seperate can NEVER be equal" was the whole point of the Civil Rights movement.

Mr. Wright wants to be some prophet of truth, and will never be close to that. Just another horror of humanity that resides in pastoral robes. He is not the first.

Ms. Goldberg wanted to be a Richard Pryor but ended up an Eddie Murphy. Perhaps entertaining, but not to be taken too seriously. She will not be the last.

One in a "church", preaching to the converted, and one on the TV doing exactly the same. With predictable results.

Nothing is gonna change that. I really don't blame them for being just a bit bitter about that. History passes you by sometimes. Heck, I'll never be a great football hero, I got over that when I turned 20.

The truth is something that is actually free of charge, yet many people cannot afford.

Mike
