Four Reasons Why Media Isn't Covering Gosnell Mass Murder Trial

By Jill Stanek | April 11, 2013 | 17:31

A  A

Living in Chicago, I've observed press coverage up close on three of the most notorious mass murderers ever apprehended: Jeffrey Dahmer, John Wayne Gacy, and Richard Speck.

Speck tortured, raped, and murdered eight student nurses in Chicago in 1966. Dahmer murdered 17 boys and men in the Milwaukee/Chicago area between 1978-1991, keeping and eating some of their body parts. Gacy raped and murdered at least 33 boys and men between 1972-1978, burying many in the crawl space of his Chicago suburban home.

In each case the press tripped over themselves to recount every morbid detail, anxious to feed the public's fascination with the macabre (click to enlarge)...

AP: ‘Abortions Are Typically Performed In Utero’

By Jill Stanek | March 21, 2013 | 13:52

A  A

As both Matthew Balan and Mark Steyn have noted, the mainstream media has for the most part gone missing in reporting the murder trial of late-term Pennsylvania abortionist Kermit Gosnell.

Gosnell, his wife Pearl, and eight employees stand accused of murdering seven newborn abortion survivors and one mother. Not only has MSM gone missing, when it does report on this horrendous story, it often gets important details wrong or makes inexplicable gaffes.

New Reality Show to Feature Daughter and Ex-wife of Atlanta Abortionist

By Jill Stanek | January 20, 2013 | 09:52

A  A

On January 23 the Style channel will premiere a new reality series, Big Rich Atlanta. It’s a take off of Big Rich Texas, which is take off of the various Real Housewives series, none of which I’ve watched more than a few minutes, because everything about them makes me sad – the plasticity, the exploitation, the shallowness – everything. I just keep thinking to myself, “These poor people so need Jesus.”

But I digress. At least one of the two stars of Big Rich Atlanta merits attention, Meagan McBrayer. Meagan is the daughter of abortionist Daniel McBrayer, who has a chop shop in the Atlanta, Georgia, suburb of Marietta.

The Flagrant Pro-Abortion Bias of the Irish Times

By Jill Stanek | January 03, 2013 | 22:27

A  A

At least one mainstream media outlet on the other side of the pond engages in the sort of pro-abortion journalistic malfeasance we've grown accustomed to in the U.S.

In Ireland, where the battle is particularly fierce at the moment to protect the sanctity of life on an emerald isle surrounded by a sea of abortion, The Irish Times is involved in several cover-ups to prop upthe other side, as exposed in this excellent video (below):

Planned Parenthood Ran a Black Friday Special

Planned Parenthood brings new meaning to the term, “Black Friday,” doesn’t it?

The Media's Strangely Subdued Reporting on Family Research Council Shooter

By Jill Stanek | August 16, 2012 | 22:56

A  A

I was camping yesterday morning when a friend alerted me via Twitter on my iPhone there had been a shooting at Family Research Council headquarters in Washington, D.C.

Frightened for my friends, I began scanning Google for news reports. Ten minutes later the first story popped up, stating an FRC security guard had been shot in the arm, and the shooter had been arrested.

WashPost Notes Departing Komen CEO's Large Salary, Ignores Planned Parenthood CEO's Larger One

By Jill Stanek | August 09, 2012 | 14:01

A  A

Susan G. Komen for the Cure’s founder and CEO is stepping down. Nancy Brinker is joined on her fall on the sword by her president and two board members, all denying the Planned Parenthood debacle had anything to do with it.

Meanwhile, a Washington Post op-ed on Brinker’s demise, “Nancy Brinker’s Komen shakeup too little and way too late,” had nary a contrary word to say about Planned Parenthood or its CEO while noting:

Planned Parenthood CEO Gets Pushback on MSNBC

By Jill Stanek | June 04, 2012 | 13:30

A  A

On May 30 Planned Parenthood CEO Cecile Richards appeared on MSNBC's Morning Joe to tout her group's launch that day of an anti-Romney ad campaign. This was the day after Live Action released its first investigative video of a new series, which exposed Planned Parenthood as a facilitator of sex-selection abortion.

The Live Action videos were not mentioned during the Morning Joe segment, so either they were ignored or Richards stipulated she would only come on if they weren't brought up. Nevertheless, (somewhat) conservative host Joe Scarborough got in several digs against the abortion giant.

Media Ignores Obama’s Failing Focus on Liberal Social Issues

By Jill Stanek | May 24, 2012 | 17:55

Here’s how it is for socially conservative Republican politicians.

If they broach the topic of abortion, liberals howl, “It’s the economy, stupid!” and proclaim them obsessed with divisive social issues.

Multiple Mistakes About Obama and the Born Alive Act Plague New Book, 'The Amateur'

By Jill Stanek | May 16, 2012 | 10:37

A  A

Edward Klein’s unauthorized biography of Barack Obama, "The Amateur," was released yesterday.

While I appreciate that Klein devoted a chapter of his book, albeit only three pages, to Obama’s opposition as state senator to the Illinois Born Alive Infant Protection Act, he got it pretty much all wrong. You can read the chapter at the link above, but here is the relevant section:

Publix Super Market’s Pro-life Mother’s Day Ad Celebrates Pregnancy

By Jill Stanek | May 13, 2012 | 06:10

A  A

Bravo, Publix.

I watched the following ad and was saddened to think how much pro-abortion feminists are throwing away by their “choice.” They can’t embrace pregnancy, motherhood, or Mother’s Day without darkening it with a reminder that still and all they advocate mothers killing their own children.

MSM Claims Komen Donations Down Due to Pro-Abortion – Not Pro-Life – Boycott

By Jill Stanek | March 29, 2012 | 14:22

The mainstream media is reporting that donations to Susan G. Komen for the Cure have dropped substantially in the wake of its decision and subsequent reversal to defund Planned Parenthood.

According to the MSM, this must be due to disgruntled Planned Parenthood supporters, for instance this March 23 CBS News story:

Doonesbury Ultrasound 'Rape' Cartoon Series Stirs Controversy; Newspapers Spike

By Jill Stanek | March 12, 2012 | 13:25

A  A

The last time newspapers spiked leftist Garry Trudeau’s political cartoon series Doonesbury was in 1985 when he parodied the pro-life film documentary, The Silent Scream, which showed an actual abortion. Now that one must have been a hoot.

But Trudeau maintains passing up the transvaginal ultrasound = rape meme “would have been comedy malpractice,” as quoted by UPI. Again, more abortion humor.

Liberals, Media Try to Shift Debate from Abortion to Contraception

By Jill Stanek | February 16, 2012 | 11:53

A  A

I wrote last week about a theory put forth by Washington Post's Sarah Kliff that abortion proponents were shifting strategies to focus on contraceptives rather than abortion, the reason being their own polls show abortion is no longer a winning issue with young people and women, but contraception is.

This week Republican strategist Dick Morris pitched the same theory on Hannity, adding some corroboration:

Jake Tapper of ABC News wrote a remarkable story last week revealing the players in the Obama administration’s internal debate on the contraception mandate.

According to Tapper, President Obama’s top advisers on the issue included Vice President Joe Biden, former White House Chief-of-Staff Bill Daley, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta, HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, former Domestic Policy Council Director Melody Barnes, White House Senior Advisers Valerie Jarrett and Pete Rouse, former White House Communications Director Anita Dunn, two U.S. Senators – and Planned Parenthood Federation for America CEO Cecile Richards:

How Planned Parenthood Used Social Media to Crush Komen

By Jill Stanek | February 06, 2012 | 18:31

Politico's Keach Hagey has predicted Planned Parenthood's successful ambush of Susan G. Komen for the Cure last week will "likely to go down as a textbook case of the political power of social media."

RIP Christopher Hitchens: Abortion Survivor, Post-Abortive Father, Cognitive Pro-Lifer

By Jill Stanek | December 17, 2011 | 11:11

A  A

Renowned liberal author and journalist Christopher Hitchens died December 15 at the age of 62 following a short battle against esophageal cancer, since summer 2010.

One might assume Hitchens was pro-abortion, since he was also an avowed atheist. But he was not, in small or large part due to his history with abortion, as he explained in a 2003 Vanity Fair column:

Ted Turner Defunds Pro-Abortion Website

By Jill Stanek | December 13, 2011 | 16:01

Ted Turner must have promised funding to RH Reality Check for only five years. Either that or he’s not happy with the product.

Or perhaps he has decided to stop promoting abortion, which would be the best news of all.

For whatever reason, Turner’s United Nations Foundation is dropping the abortion-pushing website he launched in 2006 from his list of “Campaigns and Initiatives” as of December 31.

Keys to Abortion Industry’s Success: Public Relations and Liberal Network

By Jill Stanek | December 07, 2011 | 22:23

A  A

The abortion industry’s public relations machinery has always intrigued me. At any given time I can tell which agenda items anti-life groups have directed their PR firms to push by news articles, op eds, and tweets I read. If you pay attention you see there are always particular topics the other side is swarming around.

Right now, for instance, their focus is on making the morning after pill available over-the-counter for kids, and on forcing employers, with an emphasis on Catholic institutions (which actually may be a ploy to divert our attention from the bigger prize), to offer free contraceptives in their insurance programs.

Siri 'Scandal' Due to Deceptive Advertising by Abortion Clinics

By Jill Stanek | December 06, 2011 | 14:03

A  A

Last week abortion proponents thought they had discovered a terrible conspiracy, that covert pro-lifers at Apple had secretly programed the new iPhone feature Siri to be pro-life.

Siri is an “intelligent personal assistant” to which (whom?) you can ask questions, and Siri will answer you. If you ask Siri, “Where can I get a good hotdog?” it will respond, “I found several hotdog restaurants near you,” and list them. Etc.

Trouble: Gingrich Talk of Life Begins at Implantation With Tapper

By Jill Stanek | December 05, 2011 | 14:36

A  A

I’m sorry to say the good people at CatholicVote.org are apparently starstruck. Blogged Josh Mercer yesterday: "The Gingrich campaign contacted me directly last night about the comments that he made to ABC News. The campaign sent me the following statement from Newt Gingrich. (Which is also on their website). I am very glad that the Gingrich campaign was quick to respond to the fallout from the ABC News interview and that they came out with a strong pro-life statement which reaffirms the scientific fact that life begins at conception."

Really? A personal note is all it takes to move past Newt Gingrich’s unequivocal statement to ABC’s Jake Tapper on December 2, that “when a woman has [a]  fertilized egg and that’s been successfully implanted that now you’re dealing with life”?

NPR Chops Pro-Life Talking Points in Program About Abortion in the Black Community

By Jill Stanek | July 20, 2011 | 11:21

On July 18, NPR refereed a debate between Ryan Bomberger, CEO of www.TheRadianceFoundation.org, and Rev. Carlton Veazey, President and CEO of the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice.

I thought Ryan did great, but he reported afterward he would have scored even more points had NPR not severely edited him. “NPR’s liberal colors shone though as they cut out minutes worth of my responses yet kept every single word he spoke intact,” wrote Ryan in a follow-up report.

Ryan identified where and what the edits were in this YouTube video of the interview...

Leno Joke about Weiner Includes Pro-life Terminology: 'Unborn Son'

By Jill Stanek | June 20, 2011 | 12:17

Tonight Show host Jay Leno demonstrated June 17 that getting a laugh is much more important than political correctness to a comedian.

Although Leno is married to pro-abortion feminist Mavis, he knew “male fetus” just wouldn’t get the response “unborn son” would.

Watch the clip beginning at 12:28 for Leno’s quip, “Trending tomorrow, Weiner’s unborn son tweets his sonogram picture to over 500 girls”…

Salon Abortion Story Conflicts with Original

By Jill Stanek | June 07, 2011 | 13:33

A  A

Pro-abortion ideologues have been known to blame "recall bias" on stories or studies that don't go their way.

But here I believe we have an actual case of pro-abortion recall bias.

Recall that on May 26 liberal online journal Salon published the first person account, "Abortion saved my life," by writer Mikki Kendall. Kendall claimed she almost hemorrhaged to death because a hospital doctor "didn’t do abortions. At all. Ever."

The writer, a blogger named Mikki Kendall, was relaying her first person account of supposedly nearly hemorrhaging to death because a hospital doctor refused to perform the one procedure that would save her life, an abortion. Here was the quote I pulled:

On Time Magazine’s Top 10 List: Angie Jackson, Live-Tweeting Abortion Mom

The mother who live tweeted her abortion earlier this year, Angie Jackson, has had her 15 minutes of fame extended, making #6 on Time Magazine's Top 10 Tweets for 2010.

Seems to me Time used the most unflattering screen shot of Jackson it could find from her announcement video, and it also painted an unpleasant portrait of her overall. Read Time's blurb on Jackson after the jump....

Husband Says Abortion Internet Vote a Hoax, Wife Says No; She Was Fired

By Jill Stanek | November 24, 2010 | 11:51

A  A

Read my previous post here.

Well, no wonder the true intentions of the couple putting their preborn baby's life up for a vote were difficult to decipher. Turns out Pete Arnold is pro-life and his wife Alisha is pro-abortion.

(Baby boy "Wiggles" is pictured above, waving at the camera at his 17-wk check-up earlier this week.)

First, his side of the story. CNN reported yesterday Pete admitted "they never intended to terminate the pregnancy":

Arnold... bought the domain name "birthornot.com" before wife Alisha became pregnant about 4 months ago... adding that his wife is pro-choice but agreed that abortion was not on the table for them....
Arnold told CNN... the site was not a hoax even though there were never any plans to accept the vote results if abortion won.
"A lot of people elect representatives based on this issue alone, yet nothing happens, nothing comes of it, nothing changes." he said, adding that the couple called the baby "Baby Wiggles" to give people more to think about.
"My intent is not to deceive people, but at the same point, I do want people to talk about this. This seemed like a pretty good way to further the discussion, because people don't ever seem to want to talk about it for real if there's no name on it, no Baby Wiggles," he said.

Meanwhile KSTP reported late Monday night that Alisha had been fired from her job at software firm TempWorks as "a grave threat to the reputation of the company." TempWorks went further, requesting employees to defriend Alisha on Facebook.

About That Couple Taking Votes Whether to Abort...

By Jill Stanek | November 19, 2010 | 00:11

A  A

I got a heads up about the blog BirthorNot.com about a month ago.

A pregnant married couple is taking votes whether to abort their baby boy or carry him to term.

The last day of the pregnancy they say they can  legally abort in their home state of Minnesota is December 9, a day before the baby is 20 weeks old. And, they say, they will go however the final vote tally goes.

Although the posts appeared plausible when I perused them, the concept had "scam" written all over it. So I didn't buy in. My thought was the couple was trying to punk pro-lifers.

In the last few days the blogosphere has gotten hold of the story, and I've received several emails to write about it. It appears Gawker started the chatter after interviewing the couple, Pete and Alisha Arnold.

The reaction has been most interesting. Pro-choicers think this is a scam against them. Now, while pro-lifers are becoming incensed and begging the couple not to abort, pro-choicers are becoming incensed and wanting the couple to be shot.

CNN Documentary on Young Conservative Journalists: James O’Keefe Messed It Up For Everyone

By Jill Stanek | October 04, 2010 | 11:05

A  A

CNN aired a documentary featuring young conservative “guerrilla” journalists four times this weekend.

One of the four activists spotlighted on “Right on the Edge” was pro-life activist Lila Rose, who singlehandedly shattered Planned Parenthood’s image with her undercover videos exposing the abortion behemoth as a pedophile protector and disinformation dispenser.

I thought CNN treated all four conservative young guns quite fairly. One complaint about Lila’s segment would be there wasn’t much discussion of her findings at PP.

We can thank James O’Keefe (pictured right) for that, who sucked at least one quarter of the documentary’s hour away from the featured four with his incredibly stupid plan to punk CNN.
