Oscars 2011: Which Cause Will Inspire the Most Obnoxious Political Statements?
Well it’s that time of year when all of the rich leftists in Hollywood get out their $40,000 dollar gowns, put on their millions in jewelry, climb into their limos, and head up to the Kodak Theater to pat themselves on the back for being working class heroes. I couldn’t care less about which picture or actor gets a trophy, I just love listening to the political correctness and monumental hubris on display for the world to see.
In the past I have tried to guess the Oscar winners by trying to decide which films best fit into the current liberal Hollywood zeitgeist. My favorite nomination this year is the truly mediocre “The Kid’s are Alright.” It’s about a lesbian couple’s kids who seek their biological father and realize the moms make better dads! If this movie had ended with the one woman admitting she digs guys and leaving her lesbian partner, do you think it would have been nominated?
This year I have decided to add my own category. The category is: Which liberal cause will come up most often during the evening. And the nominees are:
Republicans Destroying Unions: Starring: The State of Wisconsin, Screenplay by John Trumka and Mitch Stewart. I predict that at least three people will mention how they stand in solidarity with the government workers in Wisconsin, and around the world. Forget the fact that the Screen Actors Guild and AFTRA, the two largest performer’s unions, don’t allow their “poorer” members access to the union health care plan or pension at any price. Multimillionaire union actors will stand with their brothers and sisters who are being asked to fork over a few bucks for their lavish benefit packages. As we already know, SAG has been drumbeating for the folks protesting in Wisconsin already! I love how my unions spend my money on causes with which I don’t agree, but I’m getting off the subject.
Revolutions are Us: Starring: Countries throughout Africa and the Middle East, Screenplay by Google and The Muslin Brotherhood from an original work by Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. I’m sure someone will mention how great all the revolutions are in Africa and the Middle East. Forget the fact that the first people who an Islamic government will line up against a wall are Jews, homosexuals and artists.
We’re Still Here: Starring: Whoopi Goldberg. The Whoopster made a lot of noise on The View about not being mentioned in a New York Times article about the lack of Black nominees this year. Please note she wasn’t upset about the lack of Black nominees but that she wasn’t mentioned as an Oscar winner. Maybe Ms. Goldberg has made so many turkeys since Ghost in 1990 that the writer was trying to be nice to her by not reminding people that at one time Whoopi was considered a serious actress.
One could make the case that winning an Oscar is a bad career move for an actor or actress of color. In addition to Ms. Goldberg the careers of Jamie Foxx, Cuba Gooding Jr. Louis Gossett Jr., Jennifer Hudson, and Halle Berry have certainly not been on the upswing lately. Even the great Sidney Poitier was never recognized again after winning in 1963. To be fair to the Academy, most of his movies after 1967 were very forgettable.
I know people will be critical of me so let me state for the record that I don’t say Mr. Poitier or Ms. Goldberg shouldn’t have taken any of the less than stellar roles they were offered. Trust me, if they make “Sister Act VII” or “They Call Me Mr. Tibbs 4” and offer me the most minor roll, I would jump on it like Bob Goldthwaite jumped on “Hot to Trot!” Hey you gotta pay the bills and make the minimum to get your union health care.
The real minority in Hollywood that gets ignored every year are conservative actors, directors and producers. Are any conservative actors, directors or producers up for an award this year?
Who do we see about that?

I don't really care because I won't be watching...

I gave up watching the Oscars at least 10 years ago because I couldn't stomach the bs political propaganda that inevitably is spewed just about every year. The morally bankrupt, intellectually challenged fools in la la land should just do what Laura Ingraham said in the title of one of her books..."Shut up and sing"...If they would just do that, just entertain us, which is what they are paid to do, I wouldn't have the issue I do with most of those in the entertainment industry. The vast majority of us are not the least bit interested in what these fools think or believe politically, but every year, almost without fail, some of these yutzes take the opportunity to use the platform that the Oscars gives them to "share" with us, their ignorant, uninformed and almost always biased thoughts on politics, or whatever other hot button topic has grabbed their short lived attention spans....Watch that??? Thanks anyway, I'll pass.

Of course it's solidarity with Charlie Sheen, or Wisconsin Teachers Union, or Lindsey Lohan, or the plight of Guatemalan nannies.
Still here?

The absent (minded) state senators from Wisconsin will probably receive a standing ovation at the Oscars. Not that any Hollyweirdo would be able to discern fiscal reality from their agent.
Unfortunately, you're probably right...

This "cause" is just the kind of thing that the Hollywood fools would love to try to make hay out of...And with many if not most who work in Hollywood, belonging to various unions, the mess in Wisconsin and Indiana is a perfect topic that some pinhead can use as liberal propaganda.

Oscar worthy

I don't watch because I think the quality of movies is so poor. I'm not saying all the movies are bad, but it's not like I think, "oh, these two are both nominated and they were both so good who do I root for?" I'm always happy if there's one movie I think is worth and award.
The best thing about the Oscars is the month before when TCM and AMC air a month of previous Oscar winning movies.
And just once, when these stars talk politics up there, I'd like to hear them say, "I'm giving every penny of the money I made in this movie to ____ foundation, so that I'm putting my money where my mouth is".
My sentiments exactly...That 30 days of great movies...

is the absolute best part of the Oscars every year. For one month, you know you're going to have some great TV to watch, as opposed to the other 11 months which are usually awash in garbage. This week has been great with lots of Godfather to watch along with many other truly great films...Too bad they don't make 'em like this anymore...Sad.

I enjoyed "King's Speech" and "Black Swan"
Submitted by Texndoc on Sat, 02/26/2011 - 11:34am.
Only two I saw. The Oscar voters have a "conservative" reputation and I'd enjoy seeing King's Speech win over the Facebook movie I have no desire to see.
Saw an unknown movie critic with Tingles Matthews at the end of his show yesterday and it was comical how Tingles wouldn't let the guy talk! The guy was some idiot critic from New York Magazine I think who had to add he hoped somebody would "say something about Wisconsin!". Yeah, right.
I don't care about the Oscars anymore

The Oscars, along with virtually every other award known to humanity, have become overly politicized (to the hard left) to the point of no return. Frankly, Hollyweird hasn't turned out decent original movies for a long time; I don't care about the Oscars anymore.
As for what the "presenters" and "winners" will spew out, who knows and who cares?

I would bet the real story, which will no doubt go untold, is about what they don't talk about, rather than what they do.
In the past, many have railed about "the war" and about "bringing the troops home". As more soldiers have died in Afghanistan since Obama took office than in the entire time Bush was President, I look forward to their deafening silence about this subject and their lack of hammering Obama about it.
When they are silent, when they don't say a word about it now when it is worse, they will show that they did nothing more than use soldiers, dead soldiers, as not only political pawns, but as tools to increase their own celebrity status at a self serving Hollywood love fest.
Limo Liberals really do make me want to puke. They think they are the best America has to offer when indeed they really are examples of the worst of the worst.
