The hits keep coming from libtalker Ed Schultz, who's kicking off the new year on a roll.

First week into 2013, Schultz insisted that Bill Clinton was never tried in the Senate after he was impeached by the House. Schultz followed with the laughable claim that gun laws in Chicago, a city with some of the nation's toughest restrictions on firearms, "don't even exist." (audio clip after page break)

NewsBusters has performed an invaluable public service -- prompting a course correction from libtalker Ed Schultz after one of the dumbest things he's said in years.

On his radio show Friday, Schultz actually made the ludicrous claim that gun laws in Chicago "don't even exist," thereby providing fodder for him to be justifiably ridiculed. (audio clips after page break)

Oh to have been a fly on the wall for this one.

In the wake of Al Gore's Current TV being sold to Al Jazeera, the Islamist world's equivalent of MSNBC, Geraldo Rivera was reminded of Gore's holier-than-thou attitude the last time they met. (audio clip after page break)

This isn't the self-imposed idiocy commonly exhibited by liberals, but a rarefied strain found in left-wing radio and MSNBC. Ed Schultz, standing astride both, embodies it.

Bad enough that Schultz insisted on his radio show Friday that heck no, gosh darn it, Bill Clinton was absotively, posalutely never tried in the Senate after he was impeached during the Lewinsky scandal. This from a man whose radio program begins with the lead-in, "where truth and common sense rule." (audio clip after page break)

Ed Schultz's grasp of American history in the BB era -- Before Barack -- is tenuous at best. And when Schultz is wrong about something from that ancient realm of our past, he makes a fool out of himself.

On his radio show Friday, Schultz got on the wrong side of an argument with a better informed caller. Naturally, Schultz couldn't resist hanging up on the man and labeling him an idiot. That's when you know Schultz is 180 degrees off the mark -- he becomes dogmatic about being right. (audio after page break)

Liberal radio host Bill Press is boasting of a recent encounter with Biden in which the vice president graced him with the f-bomb, according to Press, in a characteristically Bidenesque manner. (audio clip after page break)

Never thought I'd see the left-wing bedwetters at MSNBC as relatively sane. That they are compared to the denizens of the fever swamp known as the Daily Kos.

Based on my previous meanderings on the site, I know that reading through its diarists' posts is among the least fruitful wastes of time imaginable. All seem to follow the same outline: conservatives as sick and/or evil and solely responsible for leftists not creating their inevitable utopia on earth.

Think that congressional Democrats are done lusting for the lucre of those they perceive as the filthy rich? Think again. They're far from finished.

Senator Barbara Boxer is showing how far she will go in her endeavor to do something, anything in the wake of the Sandy Hook massacre.

Appearing on Ed Schultz's radio show yesterday, Boxer says she is filing legislation that would allow governors to activate up to 4,000 National Guard soldiers nationwide to provide security at schools. (audio after page break)

What a shock it's not -- liberal radio host Thom Hartmann responding to last week's unspeakable atrocity in Newtown by demanding redistribution of wealth.

That the rampage occurred in a leafy bedroom community in one of the most affluent states in the country has apparently eluded Hartmann, as has the fact that Connecticut is among the states with the most stringent gun laws. (audio clip after page break)

Remember how liberals feigned reverence for the Constitution during its alleged wholesale destruction while George W. Bush was president? With a Democrat ensconsed in the White House, they are reverting to old habits when it comes to the blueprint for our republic.

On his radio show Friday, Schultz argued with a caller who said he usually agrees with Schultz, citing "socialized medicine" and higher taxes as examples of common ground they share. But the Second Amendment must be protected, the caller said, lest changes to it erode other freedoms enumerated in the Bill of Rights (audio) --

Rachel Maddow is often absent from the MSNBC show which bears her name, thereby allowing one of her alternating guest hosts to serve up unintended comic relief.

Providing the hilarity last night was Washington Post blogger and Bloomberg columnist Ezra Klein, who predictably spun the story about Michigan legislators passing a right to work law (video after page break)

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich is rarely at a loss for words, unless what he says is edited by Rachel Maddow.

On her cable show last night, Maddow swooned in response to MSNBC colleague and avowed "extreme left" socialist Lawrence O'Donnell's alleged success in an exchange with Gingrich on "Meet the Press" this past Sunday. (video clip after page break) 

He who first invokes the Nazis during an argument loses, posits Godwin's Law. Allow me to introduce Cook's Corollary to Godwin's Law, whereby he who makes a patently ludicrous analogy to the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor forfeits all credibility.

How can you tell when conservatives really annoy a liberal?

When his hyperbole exceeds even the broad parameters of absurdity embraced on the left. Case in point -- attorney and "Ring of Fire" radio show co-host Mike Papantonio's appearance on fellow libtalker Thom Hartmann's show on Wednesday. (audio clip after page break)

Sometimes the obvious stops being elusive even to a liberal.

For most of the young millennium, use of the term "Bush tax cuts" by anyone left of center has more often than not been accompanied by the words "for the rich." The pair have been joined at the hip so often that a Google search for them yields more than 5 million hits. (audio clips after page break)

In their reverence for all matters governmental, more liberals should know the difference between conservatives and anarchists.

Instead, it's the left winger's most hackneyed conceit -- that because Republicans see immense and wasteful government as undesirable, they are intent on wrecking instead of reforming it. Hardly a week passes that I don't hear this argument, just as that length of time rarely elapsed years ago when I was a leftist and fell back on it myself. (audio clip after page break)

You could see this one coming and hardly a surprise that it came from Ed Schultz.

On his radio show yesterday, Schultz was talking with a caller about Kansas City Chiefs' linebacker Jovan Belcher killing his girlfriend and committing suicide over the weekend when Schultz made a predictable suggestion (audio) --

Remember when a person had to actually betray our country before he or she would be labeled a traitor?

Left-wing radio host Mike Malloy keeps reaching for new lows in depraved discourse.

Liberal radio host Randi Rhodes cut loose this week with some pre-Thanksgiving venting about the vast ignorance of Republicans extending to condoms (audio clips after page break; h/t for audio, Brian Maloney at mrctv.org) --

Translation: Israel is no better than Hamas in the eyes of Geraldo Rivera, though Rivera can't bring himself to acknowledge this.

Instead, the veteran squishy conservative tries to come across as even-handed in his criticism of Israel and Hamas during their most recent flaring of hostilities, though it doesn't take long for Rivera's sympathies to surface. (audio clip after page break)
