By Rachel Maddow's Illogic, Oprah Winfrey is Birther
Brace yourself for a shock ... Oprah Winfrey, of all people .... she's one of them ...
At least if judged by the same jaundiced standard that Rachel Maddow applies to Newt Gingrich.
On her MSNBC show last night, Maddow criticized Gingrich for asking why Obama waited as long he did before releasing his birth certificate (video after page break) --
MADDOW: Newt Gingrich, potential presidential candidate responding to this incident today by saying of the president's decision to release his long-form birth certificate, Mr. Gingrich's response was, what took him so long? As if to say, the conspiracy continues, why did it take so long?!
Sadly for Maddow, Winfrey displayed a similar tendency toward elephant-in-the-room inquiry when the president and first lady were in Chicago yesterday to tape an appearance on Winfrey's television show --
WINFREY: Before you came today you had a press conference. By the time this airs it will be all over the world that you outed the birth certificate, you let us see the birth certificate. (laughter and applause from audience).
MRS. OBAMA: He was born here!
WINFREY: Yes, and that, it's confirmed again that you were born ...
PRESIDENT OBAMA: Once again.
WINFREY: ... once again in the United States. Why did you, why did you wait so long though?

Obama never answers Oprah's question to WHY it took so long....he only says what he did recently.
I love it that when Obama's journalists report that Hawaii only recognizes the newer computerized records. Sure Sure....everyone in Hawaii has had their old copies invalidated, and they now need to request new ones. I don't think so.
Don't most of us have our own copies of birth certificates....for things like getting a passport. Obama being one of the greatest minds on earth (according to Chris Matthews), and a lawyer....its odd that he does not even have his own birth certificate copy, that the only one available to him was the 2007 laserprinter copy.
Really? He had no use for his own birth certificate in all his years, his Passport, and legal affairs, until his campaign getting that copy in 2007....really?
No one disputes that Obama has spent significant legal fees in stopping access to these simple things....they do debate if its was 2 million dollars....but not the fighting....the question remains to why.....Oprah asked it.....Obama ducked it.

I was just listening to that bit of the interview on a podcast of Steve Malzberg's radio show. Obama did start to answer, but Oprah conveniently stepped on his answer with something else.
However, his answer was beginning with something like, "I had written to the Hawaiian officials two and half years ago...." Was he going to blame it on slow bureaucrats??
Not sure what he had intended to say, but I'd bet his answer would have been an un-answer.
